I have to agree with Nanuq

My newest buy is the Lundhags Forest.. A real good shell boot! Hiking tried and true. Mountain winter and summer.

For normal everyday wear.. Merrell Refuge Ultra GTX.. asfalt, gravel, light terrain

For very cold days in the winter Sorel Caribou.

All I need.

Hey Asci, great minds think alike.  :tu:

I have a pair of Merrells too, and they feel "cheap" when I'm climbing.  The upper and footbed have no support, they're like a tennis shoe.

My favorite wife talked me into trying a pair of "Keen" low boots for hiking, and they are night-and-day different.  At first I scoffed at them, but now I swear by them.  I pull them tight for descending and I feel like Superman.

For mountaineering I use Montrail Verglas with the carved beech footbed.

@Nanuq - having spent some time in your neighbouring country I can fully appreciate that. Got a great pair of Ecco Yaks last time, they are the business
