Ronin Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Nice. Now repeat that picture with a Dunhill Lighter.
JoeyB Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 I thought it was a Ronson. Nonetheless, I only had a Zippo and retired that when I quit smoking. I thought the Bic was a nice touch, though.
panerai153 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Beautiful watch sir, the lighter is a a nice touch. Don't think that Bic's are period correct though!!!
JoeyB Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 It's an old Bic... Thanks! Football is over, baseball hasn't started yet, basketball season is boring, March Madness yet to come. The BlackHawks are doing great, but like basketball, the playoffs are everything. So I went through my drawers (ahem) and made an easy one! I'm still a 'Pusshy Galore' fan (ala Connery), but the old Subs are beautiful too.
freddy333 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Nice shot, Joey. This was my take on the Goldfinger scene shortly after I completed the project a few years ago I chose to fit the bracelet instead of the Bond-style strap to be sure people knew it was a new pic & not a screenshot from the movie 1
JoeyB Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 My photo skills are not very good, but here is a dial shot. I think it came out nice.
JoeyB Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 Ah, if only I had freddy's money! I had to borrow the shirt!
JoeyB Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 Thanks, guys! Take a look at the clip we've all seen so many times, and freddy posted pics of. In that split second of the bright light you can see the 'gilty' gilt in the dial. The movie was made in the early 1960s, so the watch is likely less than 5 years old. I think that all we get to see of the gilt dials are those that have oxidized over 50 years. I found this old pic of a gen that shows the 'gilt' as i think it likely was when new.
txrob779 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Schwing....that just made my pants go crazy
panerai153 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Hey Joey, I bet the gilt on dial on the 6538 looked just like this one when it was new.
Nanuq Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Here's mine after 54 hard years. Still looking pretty gilty.
JoeyB Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 I think the gilt Rolex did in the 1950s had the look of gold leaf when fresh from the factory. @Nanuq: I didn't look that good after 54 years...
redwatch Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Stunning! Great looking piece! Nicely done!
