Do hour markers EVER come off gen Rolexes?

Royal Oak

Recommended Posts

I've owned many a Rolex rep over the years of many types and qualities from all our dealers. The one consistant problem that send them to the watchmaker is the markers falling off the face.

Does this EVER happen with Gens?

Quite extreme circumstances though from that link.

I spot a single hole too, so if these were rings, not cups, how/where does this ring mate with the hole above?

On real dials they are cups just like on reps. The big difference though is that on real dials the cup posts go all the way through the dial and they are soldered on from the back. Once that is done the remaining bit of post is ground down. As a result each cup is attached very firmly to the dial.

Most reps just have small holes drilled but not all the way through. They are the glued in place.
