denimhead Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Simply one of the best 1655 reps ever built, glad the parts worked out for you my friend Cheers M
blue. Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 What a beauty! Congratulations for this great Explorer II. Wear it often and in good health.
rower Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Outstanding! Definitely the best 1655 on any forum.
martijnp Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Stunning watch! Wear her in good health
dbane883 Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Looks terrific. Why is there a "?" on the gen dial?
denimhead Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 Looks terrific. Why is there a "?" on the gen dial? When i originally bought the dial it was clear from the stampings on the back that the dial was Genuine Rolex, however I was unsure if it started out life as a 1655. Or possibly a re-finished one. Using my 1655 obsessive eyes, the shape and size of the frog foot coronet is correct for a mk2 T SWISS T dial and the lume looks original and un-touched. DH
franz1158 Posted December 18, 2013 Author Report Posted December 18, 2013 (edited) True, confirmed by two experienced watchmakers. take a look at the printing of letters and the coronet .... so I think I remove the "?" .... Edited December 18, 2013 by franz1158
AKTime Posted December 18, 2013 Report Posted December 18, 2013 That's a real work of art. Hope you hang on to that one!
Eppenger Posted December 19, 2013 Report Posted December 19, 2013 a great watch at a great value, so stunning
TgfRulez Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Congrats my friend... I need some time to make a review of my pieces now Sent from my iPhone 5C
hava Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Looks great. The ingod case is much better that Josh 1655 case? I think Josh 1655 case was very good.
ghost Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Nice one! Did you preserve the feet on the dial? Seeing as how you used an ETA movement, how did you get around it? If you didn't...well you're a braver man than me! A genuine question: Could tritium still be glowing after all these years?
franz1158 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 @ hava: thanks Mate ... there are two different things ... in any case JoshCase is not bad, but you must do some work (CG) and if possible change the bezel to have the correct flat four. However, there remains the problem that if you use a dial type Yuki or a genuine dial we have not correct distance between the indexes and the rehoult Here is a comparison between a Josh's case (worked) and Ingod protype case
franz1158 Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 @ ghost: Thanks Mate ... feet have been removed ... Domi has a special ring to attach the dial. with regard to the tritium i can not answer .... certain is that after a long exposure to light the glowing is really poor!
ghost Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 owwwie! Removing feet off of a gen dial?!
hava Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 @franz1158 thanks for the pics. Then the ingod option is best option than Josh one. I love 1655, to be honest i love all vintage Rolex.
redxds Posted December 27, 2013 Report Posted December 27, 2013 Wow that is perfectly done! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
