juicemouse Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Can anyone shed some light on what ref. 1680 means? As far as I can tell, everything is original although the cyclops looks like it has shifted? Is that possible? Still waiting on some pictures of the movement.
6now Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Show some photos? So everyone can see the dial, case, bracelet wear etc.
freddy333 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Every Rolex watch model has a unique model number. The 1680 is model number of a Submariner (diver's) watch with date Current values average between $5k-$7k, depending on factors like age, condition & provenance.
ogladio Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Amount of red text on the dial also affects price... 1
username here Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 there's one listed now at vrf for $5k- box, papers, all service receipts. This is a fantastic buy.
cc33 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Did you say something? I think those things should be mentioned publicly when noticed
marrickvilleboy Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 if you're referring to my comment then yes, the ad says it.
username here Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Ah. I didnt read the ad! Saw this post and just glanced at the forum. What would you guys fair value for that watch? I looked, the recase was done by rolex
alligoat Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Good question, what's a recased watch worth? IMO, probably less than the $5K being asked, maybe $4.5K. It still has value as a beater, but it's not really a piece for a collector.
freddy333 Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 As always, it is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it.
gavidoc Posted January 24, 2014 Report Posted January 24, 2014 Recently sold a 76 1680 for $5500 to a friend. Would have listed for higher Ina public sale.
juicemouse Posted January 27, 2014 Author Report Posted January 27, 2014 Thanks for all the replies. If anyone sees a good condition 1680 from 1978, hit me up!
