I just hope it's worth the high price

martijnp
That looks promissing! I'm curious about your opinion when you receive her +1 for Hodinkee, great to follow. Love those "talk about watches" video's

Loupe System
Hello everyone! Long time watch collector, turned loupe maker. I hope it is ok for me to post here - if not, please accept my apologies and delete this post. I will not comment on whether our loupes are worth their price (though I'd love to if you really want me to!), but if you have any questions as to what sets them apart from all others, what accessories will be coming for them, and how these loupes came to be, feel free to ask... Cheers, Alberto
Bidle
Nice, also ordered a 6x, waiting on mine. Just bought the rubber version as I can't justify the higher price for the other versions. Also think the rubber sits the best in your hand. Cheers, Alberto Is 6x the highest magnification? I typically use 10x and 15x loupes.
GenTLe
Is 6x the highest magnification? I typically use 10x and 15x loupes. Yep, actually when I work on tiny details of the movements (like the hairspring) I even go for 20x. It would be nice to have some budget models there... I mean... Good quality but maybe 2/3 lens and 100$...
Loupe System
Is 6x the highest magnification? I typically use 10x and 15x loupes. For now, 6x is the highest we offer. We are working on a 10x loupe, but I am not currently happy with the performance of the optical design we were able to get thus far (though to be honest I am in the minority here, as most people who have tried it are impressed), and I will only bring it out if we manage to put together something extraordinary. No point making "just another 10x loupe" - we are striving for another disruptive game-changer, like our Model 01 6x loupe...
dbane883
Ok thanks. There definitely are limits in eliminating chromatic aberrations using small lenses. Here's the best I could do (handheld) with a 10x strapped to my iPhone. Note the ugly CA around the tips and edges of the coronet. Looking fwd to your sample pics cc when you get your new toy. Loupe System
Ok thanks. There definitely are limits in eliminating chromatic aberrations using small lenses. Eliminating chromatic aberration on the edges of the image field is exactly one of the points we are working on...
Loupe System
This, BTW, is what you can get on an iPhone 6 with our 6x loupe if you also zoom in with the phone. It is just an ordinary invoice, obviously printed with an ink-jet printer at 8pt font size, I would guess. http://instagram.com/p/vLuQNfrG5f/

dbane883
Very nice. Definitely improved field of view over typical loupes.
dbane883
As a comparison, here's a shot I just took with my 14x olloclip and iPhone 6+. While the center focus is ok, the extremely shallow depth of field and distortion on the outer edges really bother me. I might have to give your lens a whirl. Loupe System
To be honest, I think that for an olloclip that is pretty good. Bear in mind that our loupes have 5 multi-coated optical glass elements in them, some as large as 38 mm (1.5 inch) in diameter, so it is not really a fair comparison... dbane883
38mm is liveable for improved performance. Certainly better than this option, which I briefly considered (until the drugs wore off):

Loupe System
On an iPhone 6, our loupe is just a tiny bit more compact: http://instagram.com/p/vLswcbrG8z/ http://instagram.com/p/vLsyLXLG9D/
cc33
You are more then welcome here Alberto. It's a pleasure to meet you. Thanks for dropping in and THANKS for making what seems like the most advanced loupe/macro lens available today, way to go!! You have given us a new toy to play with, Merry Christmas to us all! cc33
I'm able to get ok macros with the olloclip, but after taking my latest set I was left wanting more. The ca is terrible and I can't get a sharp enough image without post processing. Here's hoping this one takes my pics to new levels. I'll be the first one to buy a 10x when you finish developing it! It should still have the same number of lenses, just more magnification right?
