bigmouth
Last monday i've received the PAM 187 from Joshua. Nice rep, really like it, everything OK but... that Wrrrrr sound of the movement, when you move your wrist in a certain way, kind of irritates me. This is my 3rd rep with the Asian 7750 movement. PAM212, IWC GST Ti and now also PAM 187 they all have this Wrrrrrr sound of the rotor. PAM 187 is the worst, the Wrrrrr sound is really loud. Isn't this a big giveaway? I have never had the genuine watches on my wrist but I think that the wrrrrr sound is not hearable on a gen. I am I right? Last night I handed my PAM 187 over to a friend of mine, first thing he said was "what's that noise, is it defect"? Does the Swiss 7750 also make so much wrrrrr noise, or is it just an Asian "flaw"? Richard Tracy
....all 7750s Asian or Swiss make the same sound... I actually enjoy it !
bkatbamna
My gen swiss 7750 makes the same noise.
chrgod
I agree with you Bigmouth.. I have never liked the noisy 7750-rotor.. I suppose it is the bearing which makes the noise. The regular ETA-movement sounds much more high-end. Just bought a Daytona 6263 rep with the manual wind Venus 175 movement.. That feels much better than the 7750. It is a pleasure to wind it up each morning.
gioarmani
$3200 Omega Sea Pro chrono, and I can still hear the rotor in that thing.

xwoodbutch
I have 3 Asian 7750's and 5 Swiss Eta's and they all make a rather loud whirrling sound when rotated. The Eta's seem to sound a bit smoother in comparison but this is jmo!! If you get one that doesn't make noise, that would be a dead give away!! bigmouth
If you get one that doesn't make noise, that would be a dead give away!! Ok, but not all the gens has (modified) swiss 7750 as movements. I'm not a specialist in movements but if you have for example an rep PO chrono or IWC GST with the wrrrrrrrrrrr than to me that's a dead giveaway. I would not hand over that watch to a salesman from an AD or other expert. Ok, so the Swiss 7750 does also wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr? Hmmmm think I have to deal with that wrrrrrrrrrr in my life because i love the watches Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Defender110
ALL 7750 have rotor worble... write up in this months magazine (watchtimes or watches -cannot remember) on the ETA 7750 caliber and AGAIN it is stated that the wrrrrrrrr is a characteristic of the caliber. chrono903
IWC GST with the wrrrrrrrrrrr than to me that's a dead giveaway. I would not hand over that watch to a salesman from an AD or other expert. The gen IWC GST uses a 7750. Thom
crystalcranium
I love the sound of an audible automatic winding. I used to be facinated by the sound my Dad's Girard Perageaux made when I waved it next to my ear when I was a kid. Want a quiet watch, buy a quartz! millwright
Shaking my GEN by my head produces quite possible the loudest whirring I've ever heard. The only thing louder is my FA Jones. (ticking, not whirring.) Edited December 26, 2006 by millwright79
bigmouth
Want a quiet watch, buy a quartz! I have 4 quartz watches, I hear the ones which has secondhands too! I do not need a complete silent watch but I think the ones with asian 7750 just make a cheap sound. You don't need to lay your ear next to it, you hear it already when you just move your wrist in a silent room. But OK, i like a lot of watches with the 7750 movement and keep buying them, just have to live with it. Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
bigmouth
The only thing louder is my FA Jones. (ticking, not whirring.) I have the FA Jones too, it's indeed LOUD, but it does not sound cheap to me. 7750's wrrrr sounds cheap to me. But ok, that just me.
hk45ca
so a genuine 5,000.00 navitimer sounds like a cheap peice of crap from 5 feet away? thats what my rep 28,800 7550 navi sounds like. everybody that hears it asks me if something is wrong with it. crystalcranium
Mechanical watch, mechanical sounds. This thread smells like the OP is scared to death something is going to give away his precious fake to the ignorant peanut gallery. "OMG, my replica is whirrrring, the girl I'm trying to impress is going to notice!!!" Relax man and enjoy the watch, don't abuse the illusion! She's wearing a rep PAM too Believe me, I really enjoy my automatic watches. It's really only the PAM 187 that is a bit too noisy for me. But, I am not the only one who thinks the wrrrrrr sound of a rep or gen 7750 movement sounds kind of cheap and there is a fix! I don't quite understand how being able to hear the rotor on your automatic watch operate translates to a judgement of cheap. I've got on my genuine SMP Chrono today and I can hear the rotor very clearly when I shake it close to my ear. Anyone calls this watch cheap, they can dig it out of their skull!! morgan123
The 7750 wobble is a trademark characteristic for that caliber- Swiss or not. I'm VERY confused.... I've been reading all day (obsessed, I know) about this topic trying to figure out if the Tag Link Chronograph SS I ordered is going to irritate me or not with the spinning sensation (the wrrrr) on my wrist like the cheap reps the sell on the street in Thailand did. Yesterday I went to Macy's to try on the gen Tag Link Chronograph and it was totally fine. I didn't notice the spinning at all so I decided to purchase the rep, but now I read that Asian 7750 do make the spinning wrrrrrrrs? According to some of you, the Asian 7750 is the same as the swiss 7750... If the rep Asian Tag Chrono is identical to the gen Tag Chrono I will not mind, or even feel the spinning... Can anyone tell me if the spinning will be the same or not? I'm too impatient to just wait for it to com e in the mail and find out for myself. Thanks
