This is the first watch I build from the mainplate up. I disassembled the movement, I cleaned the parts, I oiled it including the Incablocs. I rebuild the movement, I regulated it, I cut and filed the stem to size for the case, put on the dial with dial dots, installed the hands, cased it.

It was a mess in so many ways. But I succeeded. It is certainly nothing special, nor is it my most beautiful watch. It is just crap from the net put together.

But [censored] it I am sooo proud. :-)

Thanks to all the enthusiastic guys and the inspiration of this forum. If it wasn't for you guys I would have never done it.

Congratulations, you have every right to be proud, I would be too. Hell I was proud the first time I managed to decase a movement? I'm slowly working towards servicing and you bet I will be very pleased too when I achieve this.

Congrats my friend, starting out on a 6497/8 is the way to go, very forgiving movements to work with, and ideal for any beginner.  Looks great :clap2:

Congrats. Been there, and done that. For me it is the most rewarding part of this hobby.

Sourcing parts, servicing the movement and building the watch makes a watch more special for me.

Agreed. I started on a Y3135. I paid for it in more ways than one. Thank goodness for the people here to help me with advice and replacement bits that flew across the room.

Well done mate :notworthy: every time I try to service a watch it ends up either in the bin or with one of our trusted watchsmith like SSteel to sort it out for me, good on ya and it looks great btw ;)

Congratulations on a job well done. Certainly is a skill that not many of us have.
