FlipLockBuckle
This is a frankensub with gen insert, gen dial and CG's reworked to perfection and drilled lugs. Feedback appreciated! Still have the Alpha caseback on, kinda like it: Edited February 26, 2007 by FlipLockBuckle
Pugwash
And you're telling is this is a replica? So, tell me what CG mods were done and why you didn't replace the crown/tube while they were removed.
alligoat
Nice job, and I like the cg's. What case did you use so that you could fit a gen dial in it?
FlipLockBuckle
Nice job, and I like the cg's. What case did you use so that you could fit a gen dial in it? Hello, I used an "alpha submariner" case as the basis.
Pugwash
Hello, I used an "alpha submariner" case as the basis. ... and the comedy continues. I'm sorry, this may be an almighty and amazing casemod, but ... but it isn't, is it. A friend lent you his no-date, didn't he. ps. Pretty elaborate hoax or modding breakthrough? You decide. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=18559
cjeffers58
Well if that's the same case he use for this "project", then he is one hell of an artist. It seems that the alpha case does not have case holes and the "project" does. I bought a few of the Alpha watches last year for presents, not one had case holes. elprimerozen
This joke must stop. It's not funny anymore. The watch in the pictures is a GEN no-date sub.

HauteHippie
This joke must stop. It's not funny anymore. The watch in the pictures is a GEN no-date sub. Yes, it is a gen indeed. Otherwise he would have mentioned the gen non-SEL bracelet too.
Pugwash
No mention of the crown/tube, either. Alphas don't have triplocks yet no mention was made of the crown/tube, even as they would have to be removed to get the CGs that perfect. Danny, got any work-in-progress shots or won't your mate let you dismantle his Sub?
FlipLockBuckle
Yes, it is a gen indeed. Otherwise he would have mentioned the gen non-SEL bracelet too. Hey chief, The only thing that is gen in this bracelet is the endlink that is connected to the clasp (the one with the two spokes)
z80
So.. all he needs to do is pop the bracelet off and so us a pic that DOSEN'T say 14060 on the lug. Right?

elprimerozen
Yes, a caseback and lugs shot will end this argument for once and for all. Yes,he is never going to do that. And even if he does do something, the picture will be so bad that we won't be able to conclude.

bklm1234
The amazing part is he could raise the crown without mentioning he changed to a thinner movement. The alpha and just about any other rep have a lower crown position while the gen has a centered crown position on the sub (seadweller has even a higher crown position). It's because the deeper rehaut of the sub and the thickness of the movement (most sub reps use 2836. Had the factories use 2824 or 2892, they have a chance to center the crown on the case). Look at the 2nd pic, though blurry, you can see the crown is high. See how much closer it's to the the bezel compared to any other sub reps. How did he achieve that he didn't change the movement? And how did he re-drill the crown hole with the existing one low in the case? He had to fill the old hole and drill a new one. How's that possible? I'd like to learn that. -bm Edited February 25, 2007 by bklm1234
Stephane
I sincerely think I am going to buy a 1980 Yellow Lada Break and send it to him for mods so I can drive a yellow Maranello
bklm1234
one more: he didn't mention he sanded down each bezel teeth to make it pointier (note between every 2 teeth, the U is a wider U. He had to sand every U down to achieve that) or maybe he didn't mention he got a gen bezel and somehow managed to fit it on the rep case. -bm
