bertieng
The bracelet looks pretty big. Are there sufficient removable links to fit small wrist?
bertieng
By looking closely again, are the metal ear parts on the side of the watch not quite the same dimension as the gen? Or is it just the angle of the picture taken? The gen. measures 43mm with the crown inclusive. Any idea on this issue?
ubiquitous
This is really growing on me! Ubi, when I first saw your PP, I thought the styling was strange, but now it comes across so elegant, and such a classy looking watch. Please stop posting pictures, or my bank account is going to take a serious raiding Indeed... At first (and sometimes 2nd, 3rd, 4th 5th, etc) glance, the watch does appear to be a little odd in styling. But, it's a very distinct style, and one that provokes interest; sometimes interest enough to appreciate it's unique qualities. It's not a watch for everyone... But those that understand it can quickly become consumed by it's beauty. The bracelet looks pretty big. Are there sufficient removable links to fit small wrist? Yup. Mine fits perfect on my 6.75" wrist... I can still remove two more links. By looking closely again, are the metal ear parts on the side of the watch not quite the same dimension as the gen? Or is it just the angle of the picture taken? The gen. measures 43mm with the crown inclusive. Any idea on this issue? This watch measures 42mm across w/o crown, which is correct for a 3700. The 5711 is the new Jumbo, which measures 43mm as the hinges are curved outward adding an extra .5mm on each side.

bertieng
If this is reference as 3700, then there should be no second hands. The hour 12 o'clock indicator is wrong, and the minute markers are wrong either. and then the hour window is wrong too. In terms of accuracy it is quite far off. Are we just talking about its build quality to justify for a top notch league position?
ubiquitous
Maybe you should read some of my earlier postings on this thread. That's already been covered. If the 'inaccuracies' bother you that much, don't bother buying one.

Kollektor
For whatever it's worth... I think it's one of the most interesting, unusual and elegant watches out there. It is dated and yet timeless at the same time. Old and new. Simple and sophisticated. Probably repeating everything that Euno and Ubi have already stated. As far as accuracy is concerned, only a super WIS rep geek would know the difference IMHO. Like most everyone here, my eyes constantly dart to the wrists of passersby, and I hardly ever notice anyone looking at my watches. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than finding someone who even knows the 3700 (outside of this forum, that is). gregers
There seems to be quite a few of us who are interested in these wondrous MBK's but can't find out the supply details. Does it require some kind of initiation ceremony involving blood products and funny handshakes?
vtx
I too would love to get the Patek but the secrecy surrounding where to get it is very frustrating. Can anyone enlighten me and others or should I just give up on owning this beauty? VTX
manuel
I too would love to get the Patek but the secrecy surrounding where to get it is very frustrating. Can anyone enlighten me and others or should I just give up on owning this beauty? VTX With such little contribution, what else can you expect? I will definetly not enlight you..the answer to your question is in this thread. You just only need to take a look at the title of the thread and guess where it does come from. I think I have said enough. There is say in this forum..."Do the search button" or "read read and read" Now you can raise your post count with questions like who has the best sub or where can I get this watch. vtx
thanks for your help. I know MBK is the shopping centre in Bangkok - but I don't live there - So judging from your very helpful reply it would seem that you expect me to do fly there and search for this watch! The word crazy springs to mind. with the greatest of respect may i suggest that in future if you cannot be helpful butt out. VTX
ubiquitous
vtx... If I may... I think Manuel was simply trying to point you in the right direction... Which it appears you have discovered. Yessir... MBK is where these are typically sourced. That said, there are some members and 'collectors' who either visit Bangkok periodically or live there. Asking one of those members for assistance in procurring one of these may prove to be quite fruitful. Please understand... I myself have chosen not to disclose sources as I believe it may violate forum rules regarding 'collectors' (we don't have dealers here). However, if you look around enough, the answers are all there... Best regards, R
Kollektor
Man i keep coming to this topic at least 23 times a day!!! Im so hyped to get it next week!!! //robi Yes, I'm obsessive compulsive about this one as well. Every watch is the "last" one I'll be obtaining in a while... until the next Wrist Check. Insidious... ubiquitous
Understandably so... It's a fantastic watch; pics only whet the appetite. vtx
Thanks for the calming words. I take your point about "dealers" and violating rules etc. I do not want to break the rules of the board and get banned. Unless I totally off the mark I anticipate a fellow collector with T*K in his name may be helpful Like most here I too am an avid "collector" with more than 20 pieces and counting - I am waiting for 3 more to arrive this/next week VTX vtx... All that you know about mbw/mbk watches has been a precious secret for most of members in this forum. But now that we all know where this watches come from we still have to order watches from dealers because most of us cant go there buy the watches, drink a nespresso and get back home for dinner. And yes, you are right, "the collector who helps other collectors" that you mention can help you out. why did you do all that writing if you already knew the answer? vtx
What a lovely watch you have Manuel - i am envious :-) Hopefully I will have one on my wrist soon. As for the post I just wanted confirmation - always better to have verified information than work with assumptions and guesswork - the latter can end up way off the mark. There seems to be some mystique about MBW watches and how only some special collector(s) chosen by God have access to them - I am sure this is not the case. Perhaps I will hop over to Bangkok and have a look for myself. Have been to BKK many times - its a great place (apart from the traffic) and the Thai's (God bless them), like all other Asian's, will rip you off mercilessly, but may be worth a whirl. At the end of the day they want to sell and get your money. I am planning to hop over to Guangzhou this weekend and who knows maybe I will be able to pick up this beauty there. manuel
You are right vtx, mbw watches (1680,1665) were retailing for 500 usd to average members. For instance, I remember paying 430 eur for a vintage 1680. Not to mention the Nautilus I have on my wrist...It was expensive and price was on request.. In early times some special collectors chosen by Maria got his pieces. Other requests were declined : No watch for you! People joke about him as the Nazi Soup Then came Lucyyy with his porn watches You are right about the thais. the guy who brought to me this watches went to Lumpini Stadium with his girfriend (he did boxing in his early years) and there thais were charging 50 eur to each tourist.
