gran
Before the Internet, before porno videos, before XXX theatres on 42nd st, before you could imagine a time there was porn...there was porn. Very austere & traditional timepieces with concealed secret compartments depicting graphic mechanically animated and intricately painted sex acts. Some featuring such taboo match-ups as three-ways and multi-ethnic couples. Generally the animation consisted of the "thrust" with others much more complex. All produced by integrated or separate automaton movements. It's a rich & dirty tradition that continues today with some of the most respected watch companies (Ulysse Nardin, Blancpain, Chopard, Hublot and Gerald Genta) and not forgetting Svend Andersen selling their own modern haute-porn. Rarely advertised by any of them and some with price tags well over $100,000 US. eunomians
There was a book printed in Japan that featured the erotic watch collection of several world famous japanese collectors. I recall looking through the book many times while on my way to the subway station, but I never bought it because I did not want to carry it. The bookstore was always closed on my way back home, so I never could buy it. Well, the day I decided to buy it, the book was no longer there, and it was out of print. Lucky me. Daytona4me
Wow, I may have to thrust myself into the world of erotics! I have seen Reg come up with a couple decent ones. These are classic and are truly a part of horology history imo (becuase there is science in those [pun]movements![/pun])
Victoria
Wow, I may have to thrust myself into the world of erotics! I have seen Reg come up with a couple decent ones. These are classic and are truly a part of horology history imo (becuase there is science in those [pun]movements![/pun]) First, love this thread. Love the watches, and second the call for no Paint proggie censorship! Secondly, I have nothing really to add, save to say that King Leopold II of Belgium was famous for his pr0n collection at the time, which was said to include the largest collection of pornographic watches, along these lines. I tried to Google, but no pix came up. Also, an anecdote: I once interned at a sports photography studio, whose staff photogs seemed to follow Anna Kournikova around like glue. One day, the head photog got a smashing, but today rather common-place shot of Anna adjust her knickers surreptiously behind her. We sent them all over to interested customers, including ESPN the Magazine, SI, and European newspapers. I was in front of the computer, when I got this email from Marca, in Spain: "Anna pic great!!1 Please have you more erotics?" I have dined out on that story for years.
