tootall Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Hello everyone. I had made this strap a few months ago for a good friend. I put this on another forum and wanted to show it off here as well. I am extremely proud of this piece, and since I don't post much over here I thought it would be a great way to start doing just that. Anyways here are the thousand other words I could say: Let me know what you all think
lazarini Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 bravooooo now thats unique ... my congratulations tootall, blown me of my sofa ! regards laz
skcheng Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 If that strap had horns, it would be Hellboy
a german in denmark Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Wow, tootall, beautiful and... different, love it I have seen stuff like that on knife-holsters, there are some very gifted knife-makers here in Denmark. Trying to figure out how you did it. Regards, Volker ps.: the edge-coat a bit massive for my taste, I prefer burnishing the edges by hand....
sssurfer Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Very original. And I suppose not an easy one to make as well. Congrats!
fishgodeep Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Like it a lot .....not sure if it's my taste to wear but it looks superb..... Would love to see it on a Ferrari piece ? Thanks for the post FGD
tootall Posted August 27, 2007 Author Report Posted August 27, 2007 Thanks guys for the compliments. I was trying to make it look more like a muscle. Regards, Volker ps.: the edge-coat a bit massive for my taste, I prefer burnishing the edges by hand.... It was easy, LOL. j/k. I did it with multiple layers of goatskin. I used goatskin, because it stretches the best. If you can hand burnish goatskin be my guest. Goatskin imo is impossible to hand burnish, especially soft temper goatskin. It stretches too much and with the amount layers I used, it would be a problem. Just PM me if you want to discuss it more, I made a word doc explanation on "how" I did it. Here is a good example of how I hand burnish other pieces (make it slick as glass)
Victoria Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 *sounds of jaw dropping on the floor* Have you named it yet? Since it's goatskin, I suggest "chupacabra".

And no, I can't hand burnish goatskin
HauteHippie Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 This strap, while not my style personally, is really a work of art. Very impressive. I can't wait for my "boring" tumbled black tootall strap to arrive!
TeeJay Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 As above, not my personal taste in terms of something I'd wear for myself, but damn that is an impressive piece of craftsmanship and artistry, so kudos there
Guest carlsbadrolex Posted October 20, 2007 Report Posted October 20, 2007 That is amazing... I have been playing with very simple designs for a couple months now. Ive invested quite alot in tools, books and materials, but THAT is truly artistic! My hat is off to you!!!
jjfesq Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 When I saw the pic of this strap I thought it was a Shayne Delaurian. Please take that as a compliment! Beautiful strap!

mjmurphy926 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Only one thought comes to mind...How the hell can I get one?!? Maybe not other's style...and I do like simple and classic straps, but I love this as well...Definitely my style!! BEAUTIFUL!!
dluddy Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 TooTall is a true craftsman as evidenced by this strap. Too bad he doesn't post much here as I know there are a lot of members not exposed to his stuff ...
sssurfer Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Did anyone notice the year of this thread?
