@robert and jetsons: Great collections. And I still love that Longines. Not to mention that Tudor Sub. ;)

@marrick: Isn't that Seiko model still in production? Looks very familiar... and nice.

Keep 'em coming. I'm sure we'll have a good thread. Lots of members own plenty of great vintages.

My Seiko was made in 1977, the 6309 models were discontinued in 1987, but there are similar models e.g 7S26 Divers, they look very similar to the 6309s, some of the modern divers have the crown at 3'o clock.

@ Ubi

thats one fine collection! Not a big fan of Rolex, but wow!

The 6309-7290 would be from 1987 (if the first digit of the serial number is a 7, the second would be the month of production). The 7290's were made at the end of the 6309's run and used the same case as the next model, the date only 7002. These cases look very similar to the newer 007 style divers with the difference being the crown is at 4:00 instead of 3:40.

Here's a few of mine in rough chronological order (only the ones I've had since I bought a digicam) :D

thanks for the information longshot, but i've asked TIMEZONE SEIKO forum and was told that it was made in 1977. I even put the serial and model number in a neat little program which works out the date produced and was told 1977.

Goegeous watches & pics, gents. :thumbsupsmileyanim: This is eyecandy at its best! Keep them coming!

Bytor, since I know you like Tudors, you might check this link out. Very nice collection of photos plus history of the watches, http://forumamontres.forumactif.com/viewtopic.forum?t=1013

Longshot, that is one terrific Seiko collection you have. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Palp, the 5508, 1655, 5512 and 5513 totally rock! I wouldn't mind owning that GMT as well. :)

Randy, I've said it before but your Seamaster 300 is the business. I hope you don't restore it too much. Looks terrifc as is!

Offshore, thanks for the compliment. The Longines is a great piece and adds variety to the collection. I don't believe the case has ever been polished as it has all the original factory brush marks. The tall and thick convex crystal distorts the heck out of the dial which gives it a very cool effect. You might also check into the Bulova tanks from the 30s and 40s. Their art deco designs from the era were gorgeous plus they had quality movements back then.

Here is a pic of the Longines movement. It keeps very accurate time and is super smooth to wind. They certainly built them to last, once upon a time.

Nope it's 1987 B)

That program was written by and is hosted by my friend John/Jayhawk (in fact the grey dial CR220 Sealion I posted the pic of is now in his collection!). The flaw in it is; if Seiko used a movement for over 10 years the only way to tell the decade the watch was made is by the case number, not the movement number, so the program defaults to the earlier decade. In 1977 the only 6309 divers made used the large cushion case (the 704X case). The newer slimmer case was not even designed until the late 1980's, and was first used for the 7548 series quartz divers then the 6309-7290 divers.

You could always post your pic here:

And ask, but everyone will tell you it's 1987 ;)

@ Longshot

thanks for the info...shame....i was hoping it would be 1977..... =(

It's a great watch! I've had 5-6 7290's and there is just something special about them. Plus I'm sure it's running great at almost 20 years old, with no service.

I actually like the 7290 dial with the square markers so much I committed the sin of making a franken by putting a 7290 dial in the big 7049 cushion case and then polishing the whole thing
