World Traveller
Today I met up with omega1 and we compared his Genuine Tag Heuer Aquaracer Chrono with my 2 week old Rep of the same watch. It was a good opportunity to compare the two, since they were the same color and model. I was having trouble noticing the difference, the feel and weight are the same too. Omega pointed out that the AR had a bluish tint on the rep, while the gen had no tint, the other things visible in person are that the Gen has a lighter dial color and the printing is a little more crisp and fine on the Gen. Can you tell the rep from the gen? It's pretty scary how close they were. With the info I gave above you can tell but without that it might be too hard to tell! Omega1 also has a superb Omega SMP with Genuine dial and superlumed by The Zigmeister.
docblackrock
Thanks for the side-by-side From memory, I always suspected the blue dial would not be a 100% match to the gen, but I actually prefer the rep's slightly darker blue-grey hue. Having worn the gen last year, I went for the black dial (blue on it's way for my brother) - but regardless this watch is scarily close as your pics prove. I also recall the clasp engraving may be a little smaller/different on the rep vs. gen but only very slightly? And the caseback, again almost perfect - unfortunate you didn't take pics to compare though. But the only other thing I spot is the font on the inner bezel but again I prefer the crisper squared font of the rep - calendar wheel swapout and IMO the rep's the better watch! phaedo
I'm sorry, are you saying one of them is NOT genuine??
docblackrock
I'm sorry, are you saying one of them is NOT genuine?? One on the right, the slightly darker blue is the rep p.s. you know you stole my preferred avatar don't you?
By-Tor
Wonder if the different blue shade is actually due to different AR coating reflection... or does the dial itself have different color?

docblackrock
Sorry, everybody! (In a Dr. Nick accent) BT I'm sure it's the actual dial colour, same with the inner bezel ring - there's no crystal there after all
azerbyjam
I also think the end links don't line up to the case 100% on the rep, leaving a small gap. In picture 1, the watch on the right has this problem. On my father's Aquaracer the spring bars are bent for the end links to fit into the lug holes, which annoyingly allows the bracelet to move around slightly. Perhaps the factory designed the watch around the rubber strap to begin with?
omega1
One on the right, the slightly darker blue is the rep p.s. you know you stole my preferred avatar don't you? You are absolutly correct about the dial color, but the rep is not always on the right! We switched them up a couple of times to see who we could fool. For the record, my gen is the one with the 1:40 time. @World Traveler----good times! We will have do it again. Thanks for posting the pics up
omega1
Wonder if the different blue shade is actually due to different AR coating reflection... or does the dial itself have different color? Hi By-Tor, the color is definately the dial, not the AR. It appears that the rep dial is about 2 shades darker then the gen.

Matter of fact, the pictures were taken on the dash board of his car! World Traveler and I will get together again and try to do a full photo shoot from all angles for everyone to see. Also, the inner bezel ring on the rep is painted blue, while inner bezel on my gen is annodized. I will stop pointing out differences for a bit. I'll let others chime in before I say everything that I saw. But I must say, aside from the dial color it is VERY hard to tell the rep from gen unless they are side by side. cornerstone
Absolutely amazing pics!!! Wow! Although you can spot the gen - I too prefer the rep. Now - question - do I really need another watch?!

subzero1
I like the color of the rep better. Amazing how close this rep is, especially for such a complicated watch (ie, customer bezel, multi-textured dial, etc).

Amazing how close this rep is, especially for such a complicated watch (ie, customer bezel, multi-textured dial, etc). One other thing I forgot to mention that omega1 pointed out was the bezel on the Gen is anodized, it does not appear to be on the rep.
arminvanbuuren
lol this is even better than SFSO!.. its scary because the rep is better than the gen (AR coats, etc.) lol

notguilty
whoa! thanks for this.i too prefer the dial color on the rep. oh,and what gave it away for me is the misaligned date.
Guest rafib
Very nice pictures, I prefer the dark blue of the rep, this may convince me to buy one because I like dark blue or black dials but not the light blue as in the gen. I have a few black dials (BCE, steelfish, TAG carrera and UPO), so this one may be my blue watch. Thanks
