thanks for the comments fellas!! it really is a great watch...my first genuine breitling....i can NOW see and feel the difference. the one problem i can see the rep-makers having with this one could possibly be the sub dials....half of the subdial turns a different color when you look at the watch at different angles...one way it looks really dark black and the other way they look almost white/silver...very cool effect, but hard to capture on my pics. thanks again guys.

VERY NICE! I love how deep the dial sits in the case and the AR is amazing! Congrats!

That's one quality of the watch I really like too. On the 'black steel' version, with the red markings on the black rehaut, with the depth of the rehaut- it's a really cool effect.

I think there was a good point made about the problem the rep makers could have in trying to do the subdials properly. One thing that they seem to struggle with is trying to get the depth of the 'grooves' right on the dials of these breitlings that have the circular 'engraved' type of dials. I guess the steelfish is probably as good as the gen, but I don't think the Evo is.

I think getting dial textures right is still one of the problems with our reps. Even the super-reps. With the Big Bangs, the 'carbon fibre' dials don't live up to the gen standards, as far as the finish of the dial and the detailing.

What made you decide to get a genuine one? Did you buy it online or in an AD? I am thinking of getting a genuine one too. The Blacksteel one is really cool with a rubber strap, I have not seen it for sale anywhere though.

i guess i bought the gen because this is by far my favorite breitling and i wanted it to be perfect. i dont have too many problems with the small inaccuracies of our reps, but what does bother me is when i get a new watch and it has the AR scratched on the outside....the dust under the crystal or misaligned datewheel....issues like that made me want to get this one as a genuine.

i got it at an AD....the blacksteel is a limited edition of 2000...so trying to get that is pretty much impossible....i like the ss polished bracelet so i decided this one would be perfect for me. it retails for $3920 and AD's will usually give a 20-25% discount and throw in a couple straps....atleast mine did.

Congrats on the Skyland! I had the SS version on yesterday at my AD. Very very nice watch :) also my favorite current Breitling. I previously had a gen Chrono Av (and the rep of course) and think they really hit all the right buttons with this new Skyland. I was hoping they would have a blacksteel version but alas no luck -- said maybe next month as they are getting many new and special pieces in prior to a major Swiss watch event at the AD.

I was wearing my gen GP Sea Hawk 2 USA-71 (on bracelet) yesterday :) which is 42mm - I was suprised that to my eye the Skyland (45mm) was no larger (though much thicker). To me, my 44mm PAM is visually larger than my USA-71. I have nothing but rave comments about the Skyland but it really wasn't fair to compare it to the GP which to me is one of the most aesthetically pleasing divers ever crafted and the best bracelet by far that I have owned. I do want to see the blacksteel Skyland however -- but it will have to super impress to make me switch from my current chrono sport watch the GP R&D-01 -- the central minute chrono indicator, four subdials and left-hand chrono pushers are superb :)
