So therefore since me lives on an island .... everything.. has risen due to the shipping fuel . lanikai Posted March 21, 2008 Author Report Share Posted March 21, 2008 what's really bizzare.. is before this big jump.. i was filling up every 3 day's ... about 90.00 usd now that gas is jumping again I fill up every 4 day's..better gas mileage my buddy's father is the chief chemist at the refinery.. he won't answer when i ask if they are adding additives for better mileage .. ergo less trips to the station but more profit for the proprieters.. makes sense.... from their point of view.. Shundi Posted March 21, 2008 Report Share Posted March 21, 2008 $2.99 in Sudbury, MA for regular... my new Infiniti G takes about 15 gallons when I fill up (usually twice a week when I'm home) but it takes premium so that's a bit more expensive...around $3.34/Gallon. Rxus...you're thinking like an American. "It's all the corporations fault", etc. It's not just the oil companies. The reason petrol is so high is that there are a lot of fuel taxes which EU GOVERNMENTS impose. In the UK we have two -- fuel duties and VAT (value added tax). The US doesn't have VAT, because each State has it's own individual tax scheme and Americans don't have bureaucracies like socialised health care to upkeep. There were huge protests in the early 2000s with British lorry drivers angered over rising taxes. Added to the congestion charge one faces in Central London, and it's a wonder the art of motoring is alive in the old capital. Of course, Americans can look forward to driving the G-Whizz one day, so that's nice. P.S.: In Brazil, hailed as a marvel of independent petroleum production/hybrid ethanol autos, it costs $5 per litre to fill 'er up at the State-run Petrobras.
