Bond 22

Even "Bond 22" would have been a better title...

Sounds too much like Bond 77 - the title given to the soundtrack piece written by Marvin Hamlisch for the skiing scene in The Spy Who Loved Me, which he said he chose because he couldn't come up with anything better

I enjoyed the comments in this Guardian Blog (the article itself is crap) where they're trying to write a theme tune to rhyme with a Quantum of Solace...

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/film/2008/01/q...rse_bond_t.html

They could get a Scot to sing the title song: 'Quantum of Solace, ye best call the polis...'

Be thankful Sean Connery's retired, we'd be hearing about the "Quantum of Shoelace" if he were involved.

All together now to the tune of Guantanamera....

'Quantum of Solace

I need a quantum of Solace

Quantum of So-o-o-o-o-o-l-a-a-a-ce

I want some quantum of Solace...#'

BTW, any truth to the rumours that this film has a scene with Bond torturing a donkey? Then the donkey is put through a matter disintegrator, and one miniscule part of this is found to conceal a miniature computer chip with the latest plans for world domination....Hence: Quantum of sore ass.

I'm thinking Beyonc

Brilliant (especially the one about the polis).

Funny how folks have exceptionally short memories though....

Anyhoo. David Arnold wants Amy Winehouse to do the theme song, and I have more than just a suspicion that her entry to rehab (despite saying 'no, no, no') today might be related.

Her personal life is pretty much a train-wreck, but I think she has a great voice (reminds me of Nina Simone) which would work really well with David Arnold's music.

Bond should look like a killer. Clive Owen doesn't look like he could punch his way out of a wet paper bag.

The ultimate choice, and christ knows why the Broccoli's never cast him, has got to be Adrian Paul.

I did not even know the name but when i googled it and saw who you were talking about i agree he would look like a good bond

Hmmm...

Gemma Arterton looks like a dodgy flasher in that photo. Note how the mac is being held closed at the bottom... No visible clothes at the neckline either. Looks like she's about to do a flash

PS Best not let MI5 see that photo... All those dark-skinned men with rucksacks might make their trigger fingers itchy again ;)

Definitely something 'strange' going on with Agent Fields there. IMO the casting of Miss Arterton was a throwback to the bad-old-days of putting flavour-of-the-moment eye candy British actresses in Bond movies.

Spoiler : highlight to read..

But thank goodness her character gets killed off.

PS. The suit is an Alfred Dunhill.

I liked pierce brosnan better.

It is more english type you know and he wears brioni.

and he was more loyal to the original because he had a walter ppk despite he later got a p99.

my sister says the new bond seems to be from East Europe.. like polish instead of english.

btw, does anyboduy notice that craig does not wear belt with the slacks?

What do fashionistas think about this? Is the belt dissapearing in nowadays wardrobe?

Hmmm. Strange logic - you say an Irishman wearing an Italian suit is more 'english type' than an Englishman wearing an English suit?

Pierce was OK, but he was chosen for the role when Roger Moore was the present incumbent, and the Moore era was as far removed from Fleming's character as Bond ever went.

Bond has now returned to his roots, and Brosnan would have been irrelevant to that.

Daniel Craig was and is the right man for the job.

I'm fine with the no belt with a suit combo, no need for one really

Speaking of actors that Ian Fleming actually recommended to be the movie version of Bond, there were three:

David Niven did indeed play the role of "Sir James Bond" in the earlier (funner) Casino Royale.

David Niven -- one of the best blokes to walk this earth. Scottish elegance personified.

I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond after Sean Connery ! Maybe even better in some ways.

I loved Casino Royal !

The darker way the story is told is so much more interesting than stupid gadgit jokes and funny sex names.

Bring me more bond movies like this and I will continue to love and anticipate them.

I thought Bond movies were dead after the last 5 or 6 sucking so bad. Come on that one with Peirce on the BMW bike was like a Jackie Chan movie but with out Jackie!

But with Casino Royal I was there ! I mean I was so hooked right from the opening scene !

I want more!

Cant wait for Bond 22 !

Absolutely spot on. Bond needs to look like a killer. I mean a secret agent with a licence to kill is far more likely to be a horrible bastard than a annoyingly suave wise cracker (Moore excluded). I watched one of the Brosnan films yesterday (the one with Terri Hatcher in) and I had forgotten just how bad he was. His fight scenes were embarrassing. DC plays bond how I believe he should be played.

IMHO, the choices for all the Bonds were spot on, for their RESPECTIVE ERAS.

Sean Connery's macho, suave, Hugh Hefner-inspired early-60s 007.

Roger Moore's drippingly sarcastic, elegant James Bond a perfect foil for the classless 70s.

Pierce Brosnan's post-yuppy, exceedingly OBVIOUS 007 for the exceedingly OBVIOUS 90s.

Now, Daniel Craig, a tough, clipped sentences guy for a time where cocktails and dinner jackets would look bizarre fighting turbans in caves.

Even Lazenby and Dalton fit well, and in fact, Dalton is considered the best Bond by a lot of people (not I, I'm a Connery girl).

I'm a Connery fan myself, and was prepared to hate Craig. Casino Royale proved me wrong, and it ranks right up there as my favorite Bond film.

I think Victoria is right, selection of the respective Bonds, and also the style and direction of the movies was done with specific intent. I believe selecting DC and the style of CR were a specific response to the Bourne movies.

Will be interesting to see how these two "series" play themselves out ... :D

Never really thought about it like that and you are dead on. I loved Moore as Bond but for more of a comical angle. I also thought Dalton played the roll very well but my favourite so far is Craig. Saying that we shall see how he gets on in his next film.

Dalton and Lazenby were two of my favorite Bonds. To be honest, I didn't have any problem with Lazenby at all. I think people just didn't like him at the time, simply because he wasn't Sean Connery. (also, I'm not too sure how people of that era took to new actors playing established characters. Could just've been a 'culture shock' for them, where nowadays, it's something folks are quite used to...)
