Nanuq Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Who can spot the most things wrong with this piece? It can be YOURS, for only $15,000
sydneysider Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 bezel numerals and generally bad, case much too shiny, hands and lume generally bad, white rolex font bad, crown incorrect, swiss t<25 also incorrect, no?
NAVIGATER Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) As far i know the hands should be golden and the dial printing also more like this Edited February 15, 2008 by NAVIGATER
stilty Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 My guess is, the brass should be starting to show on the coin edge bezel. They were just plated brass and for a watch that old, there should be signs of wear. btw.. I really love those bezels.
Victoria Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Hey Nanuq! I asked after you only yesterday. Who can spot the most things wrong with this piece? It can be YOURS, for only $15,000 Drat. I was going to use my cheat sheet. http://bjsonline.com/watches/gallery/index.php Not there. http://bjsonline.com/watches/gallery/index...ex_Turn-o-Graph
Nanuq Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 Ask, and ye shall receive! Here's the brass showing through. Nice crystal, eh?
Nanuq Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 Hey Nanuq! I asked after you only yesterday. Sorry, m'dear ... I've been busy as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest. Busy as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs? Busy as a one-armed paper hanger? How's THAT for evocative speech?
Victoria Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Busy as a one-armed paper hanger? You've been conquering Poland??? (Only history buffs will get this. ) Seriously, though, that last side shot of the "bubble" -- if you ever make that into wallpaper size, please post it. I'm so there. FOLLOWUP: Thanks! My desktop looks gorgeous.
deltatahoe Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 wow that dome shot is incredible deltatahoe
Nanuq Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 WHY does that last picture remind me of Jane Seymour?
Victoria Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 WHY does that last picture remind me of Jane Seymour? Because you've been horny since 1976? *runs!!*
Guest Carl Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Because you've been horny since 1976? *runs!!* No No No. It's the brass showing through. Carl
Nanuq Posted February 16, 2008 Author Report Posted February 16, 2008 Because you've been horny since 1976? *runs!!* It's been that long? No wonder... even Una was starting to look pretty good to me.....
Dizzy Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Wow thats an awesome superdome!!! So whats the verdict? Superfranken? Im still not up to speed on these vintage models yet but this one looks pretty damn good to me. The white dial and hands throw it off a little but thats an easy fix if you want to age them a little. Nice looking watch regardless. dizz
POTR Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Interesting TOG... The bezel is nice, the insert really doesn't look that bad... (early/contract/proto?)... Swiss - T<25 is correct... I seem to recall seeing a "silver" dial and hands TOG, but it was "pencil-style" hands with the bubble on the end of the seconds hand... crown should be Twin-lock, but looks to be later with the smaller coronet... now that we've been introduced, can we take a peek between the lugs and see some of that bubble back now? Should be easy since it's missing my favorite bracelet.
HighDef Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Crown below the 12 and T<25 Edited February 18, 2008 by HighDef

yellomen Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 The TOG looks pretty good to me. The case is quite new and has fairly sharp edges... maybe it wasn't used a lot and never got serviced. The crystal looks pretty new or at least not 30+ years old... so that one got replaced. The rest... guess it's a nice watch and i couldn't tell if it's a 100% gen or frankenwatch... but it is nice
POTR Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 I only have one more question? And I am pretty sure I know the answer already... A260 or A296? I gonna guess early 1953 with an A260, and since that was a confusing year the serial could be either between 116XXX and 132XXX, OR between 84XXXX and 94XXXX... or...
POTR Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 OK, $15K is cheap, definitely 1953, the serial is 73XXXX, and the crown is the only thing newer, but not by too much, except now you've added a bracelet and end pieces to the mix... and the bracelet and end pieces are wrong.. (the original x80's left their wear marks deeply on this one...) WhadduIwin?
