a few more pics of my franken 1016

Just received this NOS 7836 folded link bracelet and installed it on my franken 1016.

I've been looking for the proper vintage bracelet for the project and I think itt is now complete. The dial is a 60's version, so I needed the vintage bracelet.

It is not as heavy or chunky as the 78360 w/580s I had installed, but I think it suits the project a lot better. Original Franken 1016 post here.

I will have to remove one link on the 6 side, but will probably leave that to an AD with the proper tools.

Here are a few pics. Enjoy.

That is a beauty Freddy! One day.... one day... I'll get one. I was fortunate to hold a gen in my hand about a month ago. fantastic watch.

Haven't experienced the hair pull yet as I have yet to wear it. I need to take it in (the bracelet) and have a link removed. Something I don't want to attempt myself. I got a smokin' deal on the bracelet, but it still wasn't cheap and I don't want to mess it up.

Incredible Trev- tremendous score on that one. I don't know what it is about the folded bracelets, but I love 'em. Also, they haven't been able to rep the folded bracelets very well, otherwise I would probably have just used a rep option for a bracelet.

Incredible to see a 7836 in NOS condition!

Hey UB7 and Manuel. Please see my original franken post for details and photos. Link in topic #1 of this post.

The case is a genuine Rolex 16234. Modern DJ. Why this case? It was the closest I could find to a 1016. The caseback gasket setup is the same, whereas the vintage DJ had a different system than the 1016. The depth rating is 100m on the 16234, same as the 1016, but the vintage DJs were only rated to 50m. Also, the Tropic 22 fits the modern DJ case.

The only real difference is the crown and tube. They are all 6mm crowns, but the tube on the 16234 is 5.3 as opposed to the 6mm tubes of the vintage models. You can only tell the difference by unscrewing the crown and I bet 90% of the people wouldn't know the difference unless I told them.

Also, the majority of vintage DJ cases I have seen have been overpolished and I would not be able to have the lug holes drilled. I spent a lot of time researching this, and feel this is the closest I am going to get to a gen without dropping $5-7K.

Here is the gen 1016 back:

This is a 16014 back:

And here is a 16234 case back

Haha, thanks Freddy. Yes I'm sure I will.

I see you did not remove any links on your folded. all 13 are there. Maybe I'll just leave mine the way it is and shorten up the fine adjustment. I only wanted to remove a link from the 6 side to center the buckle.

I have a 7" wrist & was able to fit the bracelet comfortably (loosely, which is the way I wear them) by moving the pin in the clasp. While I have removed links from these before, it is a job best avoided if at all possible (the sheet metal is easily warped).
