tazzman Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Order already placed at joshs... will post own pics in a couple of days
LegendofSpeed Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I was close to pulling the trigger but the caseback just looks a little off compared to the one on the chopard website... could be a bad angle though.... i'm a nitpicker though and it's a gorgeous watch....
Antonio_Montana Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) $438 for the grey one... Watch looks very nice, 1:1 blabla and all parts exchangeable with Gens, and superb AR..hmmm. But that issss a lot of money for a rep Just like the HBB release.. maybe this is a good investment and within 2months the price will go skyhigh to $800 Edited March 19, 2008 by Antonio_Montana
Watchmeister Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 tazzman- Please review it when you get it. I have seen the watch at an AD and it is beautiful. If it is that good than it will be a must have for those who like big watches. Thanks for the alert. I haven't bought a new rep in quite a while. And I do have to add that in spite of all my whining about the price I have been getting enjoyment and jealous stares from other folks on my ceramic bezel HBB while on vacation at the beach. And yes $450 appears to be the new basic price for upper end reps. Then again $450 was $350 a year ago (from a currency perspective).
verbal Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Oh man, can't wait for your review, I've been waiting a long time to get this keep us posted !
chronology1066 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 At these prices I think its about time we started seeing warranties on these things. Oh and maybe availability of spares etc. Nice bit of kit but like I said, some positive support would certainly help me justifying the additional price hike.
bertieng Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Buying reps is always a kind of luck. With such price hikes, it really demands for better quality. Often scratched hands/dial/chipped screws are seen. It is time the factoey should look into these issues when they are asking for such amount of money for a rep. Still, at this price, it really demands for a better engraving/etching of the caseback.

In sweden it has dropped from massive 11-12 SEK/$ in 2001-2002 to 5.98 SEK/$ today..so its almost cheap
Watchmeister Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 In truth between the loss in the currency and what is clearly a full blown recession I do believe that even American demand of reps is going to suffer. I still can't wait for this one though. It is one of a very few I am looking forward to this year.
tazzman Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 I agree that the caseback could have been better, but I am not that picky about the backside ..well..not yet anyway.. and regarding to price its lot less than my HBB RG Tuiga Ed for $1200, which is the most beautiful rep I ever seen. Its looks good in daylight but during nights out in the bar it looks amazing..wonder if it is the drinks that enhances it or just the light?! .. I will put up a review with a lot of photos as soon as I get it from mr. J /M Buying reps is always a kind of luck. With such price hikes, it really demands for better quality. assasi9 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 everything looks better after a few drinks at the bar, no?
BobM Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Josh's announcement says of the movement, "first of its kind .. Asia 7750 28800bph with functional regulator". What does that mean ... functional regulator?
jdkno Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 tazzman- Please review it when you get it. I have seen the watch at an AD and it is beautiful. Kruzer maybe you could help me out a bit on this one. Looking at Chopard's website the subdial rings look alot more black than the subdial rings on the rep. Is it just lighting or is there really a difference here?
tazzman Posted March 19, 2008 Author Report Posted March 19, 2008 Original: Rep: Looks pretty strange, maybe its the flash or some lightning-thing.. I will publish good pictures in a couple of days.. stand by.. - tazz
spookycord Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Does anyone know what improvements were made on this version vs the last one that was released?
Rxus Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Josh's announcement says of the movement, "first of its kind .. Asia 7750 28800bph with functional regulator". What does that mean ... functional regulator? Please correct me if i'm wrong, this new movement looks a lot like the ETA7750 movement, and if it is a trully functional regulator it's an improvement in aesthetics mostly, as the majority of us will never bother to mess with it Notice the dagger looking thing surrounded by the "C" shaped metal in my perfectly round circle I believe thats what Josj is referring too
Mickey Padge Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 The photos have been adjusted from the pre-production sample watch, I assume they have not received the actual watch to take photos of yet... King has the latest photos here: http://www.kingshowbox.com/gallery.php?id=800 Looks better to my eyes
TomRiddle Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Order already placed at joshs... will post own pics in a couple of days please make sure to post wrist-shots when you get it
chad Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Thanks alot guys.................. I just ordered one......
Dario33 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I'm a big fan of this watch -- eagerly waiting reviews.
Dario33 Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Also...why would gray dial be more expensive than black dial?
lanikai Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Please correct me if i'm wrong, this new movement looks a lot like the ETA7750 movement, and if it is a trully functional regulator it's an improvement in aesthetics mostly, as the majority of us will never bother to mess with it Notice the dagger looking thing surrounded by the "C" shaped metal in my perfectly round circle I believe thats what Josj is referring too it is like the swan neck in it fine tunes .... and it works... @Dario.. the limited edition genuine that was purchased was the Grey Dial. may be cost involved in disecting and manufacture...
jdkno Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Also...why would gray dial be more expensive than black dial? Only thing I can thing of is the 6 and 12 being in the crystal of the gray dial...In reality I think it is just charging more for the more demanding model.
TomRiddle Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 post wrist shots!! and not an upclose wristshot either -.- situate it, take multiple shots, i wanna see how teh watch looks ! COME ON PEOPLE :X god im tempted... oh so very tempted.. but grr argh! ARGH lol
