007omega Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 So i decided the Planet ocean is simply way to big for my tiny wrist so I came to the conclusion I would go with a SMP. The perfect clones version is 250 and looks just like this http://www.pc-80108.com/omse10004-2007-sea...362-p-2775.html What are the major issues of this watch and can they be fixed?
andreww Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 bad pearl bad he valve placement bad CGs
FxrAndy Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 250 for that???????????????????? the worst pearl CGs and SEL i have seen for a watch of that price
007omega Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 bad pearl bad he valve placement bad CGs No way to fix the above either I keep hearing about this long lost factory that made really good SMP reps... is anyone selling one of those? Were they that good?
007omega Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 250 for that???????????????????? the worst pearl CGs and SEL i have seen for a watch of that price really? I thought josh was known for quality stuff.... would you suggest the silix SMP: http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?cur...USD&id=1319
takashi Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 None of the current batch SMP is good. I repeat... NONE. Main flaws centre on He Valve placement as well as rehaut depth, pearl and lousy bracelet. Take note of m on the Seamaster too.. It's more like Seanaster.
andreww Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Save your money and wait for a new version to be released. All current models of this watch are crap. Go for the SMP Chrono instead
007omega Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Save your money and wait for a new version to be released. All current models of this watch are crap. Go for the SMP Chrono instead What are the main errors on the SMP chrono: http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1693 Also, what happened to the factory that was producing really good SMP? They were shut down for making such accurate reps ?
FxrAndy Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I would go for this one discussed here or the one from king dicussed in the same thread, i think they also talked about the silix one there as well, if you read the whole thing then you will know the points to look for
takashi Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 datefont and Seanaster on the dial. Not very obvious unless you have magnifying glass. Misalligned insert and bad pearl are common too. But this is a good rep. Factory was closed... Some speculate it's because the rep is too good
triplehd Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 What are the main errors on the SMP chrono Welcome 007. Currently, no matter how good the reps are, they will have some type of flaw(s). Some you can live with, some you cannot. I woudl advise you to review By-Tor's excellent Guide to Omegas (see the link within the Omega section). His guide will provide you with the answers that you are seeking. Also, what happened to the factory that was producing really good SMP? They were shut down for making such accurate reps ? They never paid their property taxes so the bank took seized their property and sold it. Currently, there is a KFC at the former site and plans are in the work to expand to include a drive through. Hope that helps.
b16a2 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 The best at the moment is the Silix version, where the main flaw is the He valve placement. There is talk of a new rep being released so hopefully it might be as good as what we have become to expect from reps these days
capice Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 check out ByTor's reviews on Omega....lots of info there....
mars08 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 The one from Josh is horrible! As far as the full-size Bond SMPs at the moment, the one from Silix/King (and apparently houseofsouvenirs.com) is the most accurate. The major flaws with this version are the CG and He valve location (the pearl isn't THAT bad). Otherwise it's the best of the current crop. The jury seems to be split 50/50 on which is the biggest crime... the CG or the He valve.
KevinCa316 Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 im hardly an expert, im just now gettin back into the game since my 007 SMP got obliterated lol, but that Silex watchs pearl is completely wrong. i remember back when i was researching the hell out of the perfect SMP 4 years ago just about the only thing that i could spot was the pearls. they just glare at me i dont know why but thats what always helped sort the good reps and the crap ones to me

Currently, there is a KFC at the former site and plans are in the work to expand to include a drive through. TripleHD is telling the truth, i've seen this KFC.

I'm starting to think that because you can get them for under 1k gen. I might just buy the real deal instead of waiting for a perfect rep.
