Pugwash Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I just got a new watch, courtesy of the great LordRasta, and was considering doing a review, but there are better ones than I'd write listed in the Breitling Guide. Besides, you all just want to see pictures, right? Without any further ado, here's my new Skyland! Clicking a picture enlarges it. All shots are taken in harsh light to show just how good the AR is - best I've seen on a rep out of the box! I never wear this kind of watch on the steel bracelet, and I already have a leather strap waitling for this, but I didn't own a rubber strap, so I took the opportunity to get this one. What a gorgeous dial! Here's a comparison of the BCE and the Skyland. See how much deeper the Skyland is?
Pugwash Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 So how do you like it? Very much.
Fidestro Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I never liked mine, but I had it on a bracelet. Methinks I need to buy a new one on rubber. Which version is this? I can't see anything at 3 o'clock.

piratedzeus Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) Very much. Great I do not see any lume dot issues either, call yourself lucky Maybe CN fixed that now? Anyway, great watch. Edited October 22, 2008 by piratedzeus
robertk Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Great Watch, Pug. It has to be at the top of the chain of "perfect" reps. Your photo's are really intriguing. Wear it well.
andreww Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 You always buy the reps I'm shopping for Pug. Now crack that thing open and reset the 6:00 subdial hand
Pugwash Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 You always buy the reps I'm shopping for Pug. Now crack that thing open and reset the 6:00 subdial hand Yeah, the chrono at 6 keeps running. No big deal, and not worth sending it back for.
By-Tor Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Congrats Pug! So many members have purchased the Skyland... must be the most popular rep of 2008.
SubFrog Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Yea, this watch is currently my fav. I have the v2 and it is worn almost every day...every now and then I'll go back to my SD or the 005 logo. I also have this on the steel bracelet...everyone loves it.
dluddy Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Looks great Pug. Nice shots. Talk about rehaut.....That thing is deep
Pugwash Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 Starting and stopping the chrono has fixed the running hand at 6.
piratedzeus Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Starting and stopping the chrono has fixed the running hand at 6. Only reps can you get you that kind of happy surprise
Toadtorrent Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Awesome as always. I'm wearing mine as we speak. It really is a great watch...and on leather, doesn't wear nearly as heavy as steel. If you don't have one already...you know you want one.
Timepiece Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks Pug, great pics as usual. After my own pictorial I was really anxious to see what angles you would come up with to show off this beauty.
LordRasta Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 It was my pleasure Pug. After all you've done for us over the years it was the least I could do. It was worth it just to see the pics. I've been wearing the Pugmariner quite a bit but you have inspired me to wear my Skyland for a day or 2. Or 12.
RobbieG Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Nice piece Pug. Hey, different lighting on this shoot. Certainly atypical setups for your style. What are you doing differently. It looks like you are experimenting with fill flash or something?
Pugwash Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Nice piece Pug. Hey, different lighting on this shoot. Certainly atypical setups for your style. What are you doing differently. It looks like you are experimenting with fill flash or something? Let's see ... I took these shots in the kitchen with no camera lights and no light box, just harsh kitchen spots. Some shots are exceedingly long exposures and a lot are stopped doen -1/3ev or -2/3ev to stop the highlights burning out, then brought back up in iPhoto. Why harsh lighting? Three reasons - first, because I wanted to show the AR and that sort of lighting does the best job. Second, I just got home from a night away from home (Mogwai gig in Edinburgh) and didn't have time to set everything up. And yes, it always pays to experiment with different lighting. Oh, and the third reason for the kitchen? It's a homage to Ubiquitous's granite surface.
cornerstone Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 It's a homage to Ubiquitous's granite surface. 'Filmed in Ubivision' is the official title of that setup Great watch. My mission for Christmas will be to seek out the right strap for it.
Bibbs Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 I just got one of these (yesterday) from a member here too (xslyyx - thanks again!). I'll add my pics here instead of making a new thread (hope that's cool?). Few rubbish pics (including my wrong way watch wearing) as I'm only using my camera phone.
Pugwash Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Oh, to confirm, that's a whole day the sub-dial at six has been well-behaved. It was just a rep glitch, nothing more.
