Justasgood Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Venus 188 serviced only once in the late 50's. Movement: Case: Bonus watches.....'cause he's cool..... Comments always welcomed.
jkerouac Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 That's a beauty. Congratulations, and wear it well. By the way, what is the size (diameter)?
Guest Carl Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Awesomely beautiful. I am still trying to get my hands on something like that.... Maybe from Wittnauer, Bucherer, Rolex, Wakmann, I'm not really particular.....
Shundi Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Very nice...I assume you had a service done to it?
Justasgood Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 That's a beauty. Congratulations, and wear it well. By the way, what is the size (diameter)? Thanks. The diameter is 36mm w/o pushers. That is beautiful!! Even better on the wrist.
Justasgood Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Awesomely beautiful. I am still trying to get my hands on something like that.... Maybe from Wittnauer, Bucherer, Rolex, Wakmann, I'm not really particular..... I am very fortunate. I think the design and layout is classic and timeless....keep searching. You just never know.
Justasgood Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Very nice...I assume you had a service done to it? Not yet. It has great amplitude and is keeping very good time as per the machine and my wrist. Besides, I need a little one on ine time before I send it off....
Shundi Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I know the feeling...got my vintage Constellation back a few weeks back and it's keeping time between -1 and +2 on the wrist- it's not coming off for a while
Nanuq Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Magnificent piece! Those babies were made when men wore understated, serious timepieces on their wrist. No bling or gaudy colors necessary, thankyouverymuch. It shall be judged by the content of its character, not the quantity of gold plating and cubic zircons stuck to its dial. Simple, classic, timeless. Except it's keeping time. So that means... um, wait. It's "timeless" not TIMEless. As in, um... Oh heck... just wear the thing and enjoy it! She's a beauty.
Corgi Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Ain't nobody gonna complain about the subdial spacing on this beauty!!
freddy333 Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Great find & do not lose that watchmaker.
alligoat Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 I have the V72 Wittnauer, it looks almost identical to yours, except with the 3rd subdial. I was going to use it in a franken, but could never come to tearing it apart. So I just wear it from time to time instead.
Justasgood Posted November 4, 2008 Author Report Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks to all. I will post movement shots when I break it down to clean it and replace the crystal. The finishes and case styling have really caught my eye. I haven't taken it off yet.
Cucumber_Jones Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 I swear I have that same watch. I am on holiday and when I get home I will check mine. Is the case solid gold? Mine is...
