  1. ...almost 6 month ago I joined this forum without any rep in hand but one already on its way (Noobmariner/Regmariner bought over at RWI). Only a few days later I bought my first rep from dutchguy2 and from this moment on I had been hooked. The 16610 superrep I bought from dutchguy2 unfortunately had some problems with the movement and arrived DOA. Good thing was that this issue showed and proofed that dutchguy2 really is a stand up guy. First arrangement was that I should hand the watch over to Domi and since he is only 15km away I agreed. But I wasn't able to meet Domi in time and meanwhile dutchguy2 offered a very nice 5513 which caught my attention. I need to have it and so I sent back the 16610 superrep and received instead the 5513...watch Nr. 1 Since the 5513 had been priced a little lower than the 16610 dutchguy2 said he owed me some... Well...that was the start of my actual collection... Dutchguy2 is very good modder and since I searched for a decent 1675 he offered me to build me one...he planned to build one himself either so he said it's no big deal...watch Nr. 2 During this build he started to build himself a 1680 and so I asked if he kindly would build another one for me too..."sure mate" was his answer...watch Nr. 3 Building watches is something that needs time and patience...not my strongest sides I must admit... So one day devilseam offered a very decent 1665 and since I missed the inital sale I sure had to take off of him There were only two things that 1665 was missing and that was a gen T39 and lume...lucky me...dutchguy2 had some gen T39 and is pretty good in luming so I sent the watch over to his place and he perfected it for me...watch Nr. 4 The 1665 was back at my place pretty fast and the build of the other two was still in progress so I hit and miss some other meanwhile...a 5514, a 116509, a BTR Chrono, a Cousteau Divers Chrono, a Vintage SMP 300, a 16570, a 16750, a 16622, a 16600... But all didn't last long...two to three weeks... One day dutchguy2 offered a SMP300 Chrono and since I knew that his watches were always in good condition (otherwise it's no problem to find an arrangement) I bought it in an instant...good choice! During summer I had this SMP many times on my wrist while swimming at the public pool, jumping from 5m, diving down to 3,3m and I even used the chrono under water just like with the gen...it still is watertight!!! ...watch Nr. 4 The last watch I got in a trade with dutchguy2...I promised my wife not to buy any watch during a 12month period but I needed to have that SMP dutchguy2 offered. Since I always had a little problem with watches with no date I traded the 5513 for the SMP...watch Nr. 5 I like the SMP pretty much but still I regret trading the 5513 for it...the 5513 is such a nice watch...to nice to be traded (If you read this H...wear it in good health ). For now I think I can keep my promise for the remaining 10,5 month...my rep collection stays closed for now Rep collection: SMP 300 Chrono 1680 Kermit 1665 GW 1675 SMP But...there was a life before reps...I had been a real serial flipper with gens before...just some examples... 2. Hi all ! I've just picked up a gen breitling navitimer sliderule from the bay (title says it's from a vintage navitimer), And i've got a modern navitimer rep (tricompax). The sliderule marking on the rep is pretty much identical on the gen part i've picked up and the rep (correct me if i'm wrong), would it be a good idea to swap the rep sliderule to the gen? the only difference i've noticed between them is that on my rep navi - for a gen, the sliderule red "arrows" (on the 60, 10... positions) should be thin. and on the gen sliderule i've picked up they are tiny bit thicker. Here are pics of my rep navi, a gen navim and the gen part - let me know what you think. Thanks! db1 P.S: i'm not sure if it's important but i've also have got a gen dial for this watch (same dial color and marking as well) Photos are uploaded as follows - fist my rep, second the gen sliderule picked up, third a gen watch example

  5. Tuesday... Need to wear this more often. Rare old school broad arrow, ST19 hand wind with nice Omega engraved bridge. Not produced anymore and don't see these around too much.

  6. Neither of those brands but pretty close to the mark. I like to think of these as an AP/Hublot hybrid rip off to use your term. The price point is the key Tom vs quality. With the same Swiss quartz movements that much more respected brands use and they charge 4-5 times the price. The crystal is warranted for 10 years with 200 meters water proofing, good strap and they do not fall apart I have had some for years. Just a very good/affordable watch.

  7. For the SMP: Flaws/tells are mainly pearl (easy fix), case back, bezel numbers&indices (engraved, not flush as the gen and slightly thinner). Also the hour indices are not as flat as the gen. The rep is also slightly thicker than the gen. But except for the pearl, I'd say all those are passable unless you do a side-by-side comparison. Common errors I've seen are are bad bezels (uneven spacing - 12 and 6 markers don't line up) and misaligned date wheels. Also currently they only come with "Swiss ETA", which is a bit of a lottery. Mine came with a movement that's either very old or very "franken" based on the looks of the regulator markings. But it works, so... Apart from all that it's still a very nice watch, and my current daily beater.

  8. Just imo here but I would go with the ceramic in terms of those two, with reservations though. The V5 PO is a pretty average rep out of the box, it was good 3 years ago when it was released, but by rep standards these days it falls well short in terms of AR, lume, bracelet, pearl, crown/tube which has a strong tendency to strip etc. The good thing about it is it had a 1:1 caseset so was a great model for frankening with gen parts which are readily available from ofrei/cousinsuk etc. The ceramic on the other hand is a recent release, and has improvements over the old out of the box, but still has some issues. It definitely has better lume, AR, bracelet than the old which instantly make it pop more, but does suffer from some half assed detailing on the dial/bezel etc. The bezel numbers have a tendency to fade, the crowns don't seem too great although a little better than the old V5. The 45mm ceramic/LM is a little better in some regards...better dial etc. In terms of 42mm the best PO at the minute is the new 42mm LMPO, which is a rep of the older closed caseback limited edition version. Great case, crown, bezel, tube, AR, superlume make it a step above the others. Only issue seems to be a tendency for crooked markers/logos on the dial, that is a basic qc error and is up to the buyer to reject until they are offered one they are pleased with. Outstanding rep though, if they fix the silly dial issue it will be considered a superrep. Hope this helps a little. In fact, if really looking for the old standard PO and the glossy LM isn't your cup of tea, I would suggest buying the new LMPO anyway, and find yourself an old V5 dial hands, bezel insert (or better yet gen dial/hands and modded or gen insert) and transplant them into the LMPO. With that you have an instant great old PO with great AR, bracelet, crown/tube, He valve etc at a much cheaper price than modding the V5.

  9. SD- Just keep doing what you are doing. It will always be trial and error. Just look at the variation on the gen dials. Thin indices, thick indices, discolored tritium, etc. But yeah, we will wait as long as it takes to get the PAD printing correct. That is critical.

  10. This is such a good replica that I don't think I could justify buying a Gen, great looking piece and thanks for sharing the unboxing and plethora of pics!

  11. http://bit.ly/139B6jw Perhaps the link above is a better resource than me describing it. Again, it's the Colt 44 with a white face and black rubber strap. Fairly easy to navigate to on Andrew's website even if the link doesn't work (which it should). Hope this helps with the conversation. Flash
