Gen vintage goodness...

Yes china has swiss. However most of the gen swiss are used in the high end japanese watches. Such as sandoz etc. A new sandoz with a genuine swiss, and they are swiss is $400-$500. If you think your are buying a swiss in a rep for $300, your mistaken it is an asian clone. While they are much improved over last year they are still not as good as a swiss. Ive been using swiss movements since the mid 80's. Some watches I built with swiss in the late 90's are still keeping good time. Ive only been offering asian clones of the swiss for about a year. So far, the gold clone has worked well. I have repaired several with the silver clone. Don't know what the difference is, just know the facts. So, best movement GEN SWISS hands down

Jex Sad to say that this is just part of the rep game, now if you are in the EU I volunteer to fix this for you when you get the new crown for nothing more that the price of postage back to you, I may even be able to repair the old crown so there will be a spare in case some one needs one

@endshake We will never agree upon the fake watch business, or the fake watches in general. But since I'm here I will stick around for a while as I'm impressed by the knowledge some of you guys have about watches. The FWB is now closing down his IG account before IG does it. The reason for IG to close his account is all the reports they've got the last couple of days. Mostly from a jeweller in NYC, because he busted them selling fake watches. Very expensive fake watches that is, and they probably sell some of them to people believing it's genuine. (this jeweller also have genuine watches) This was his third account and he didn't tag the people he busted this time. But a lot of his followers did. And they also harassed the guys on their accounts. That's not good. And as you said, a lot of his followers - probably most of them - does not have any knowledge of wathes at all. There was even a guy who commented the strange crown on a Rolex-cake. Can you believe that. If you don't see it's a cake you should probably not be commenting If the FWB comes back - and I believe he will - I don't think he will show the identity of the people he busts at all. I hope he'll be back to educate people and by that helping them not to be scammed by "serious" watch dealers selling fakes. I think that's a good thing. The FWB has a tremendous knowledge of watches and I bet even some of you guys in here must admit he's good at spotting those fakes. Early on in this thread someone mentioned that he would have a problem spotting some of the replicas you have in here. I'd be happy if you posted a link to some of those. And please, don't post a picture of a genuine

I have no doubt that the watch is a TC if Docthor said it was and I gather there was a screwup on what model 3-5 next sale down the line which is being handled properly by dutch "He asked me to take it back and that is what I will do." These things can and do happen and I would use this as an example of the proper way to resolve.

Without the crystal retainer the crystal will spin around. Please let someone that knows how to work on these watches work on it. If you press too hard in the complete bezel with the insert you run the risk of damaging your pearl and/or insert.

The watch looks totally fine and you sold it at an amazing price with the gen insert! Get it back and wear it or sell it again Construction is the same but happens with my v6 aswell that the whole bezel assembly gets off instead of only the bezel with the insert. Cheers and hopefully you can sort that out in order that both parties involved are happy!

Thanks for the crystal image sputim - I'm doomed to locate one of those now. This is a sickness isn't it. I wonder if medical insurance will pay for rep watches like methadone for heroin addicts (I'm not actually sure that insurance companies pay for methadone either)

I cannot answer your question, but, in general, most smaller shops tend to be rep-friendly. Your best bet is to google watchmakers in your area & phone them to find out.
