  1. I learned at school that U.S. is formed by 50 states... Well, my teacher was wrong Here why: How many States?
  2. Get this: You can dive with it, it's got the looks, the insert will stay on, it's auto and it comes with box and warranty As an additional gift you'll be left with enough cash to get yourself and your dearest a nice dinner. ...at least...
  3. ...and if you keep regulating it for a period of a week or 10 days, it's possible to make it run +-0 seconds per day or somewhere about +-/2-5 seconds per month! ETA can do this.
  4. one thing's for sure western made brainwash works really well.
  5. i don't know why but that PP Nautilus reminds me the design of some rectangular SEIKO 5s back in 70's. And it's an ugly one for my taste. I would choose nothing but a sub, SD or seamaster for the first rep. And i wouldn't care who has it and who does not.
  6. I tried a similar swap like yours with a cheap sub rep i had. According to your description, your "cheap" sub and my "cheap" sub have probably the same movement inside (mine had open 6 and 9s as well). I tried to swap the movement with a DG2813 just because of the date font (the DG2813 i have has closed 6s and 9s). It didn't match the dial. The date wheel of the DG2813 didn't center in the date window. Although the mechanics of 2813 and the "cheap" canal st. sub's were looking the same, the date wheel diameters were different. I also had problem to install the hands of the "cheap" rep on the 2813...Well maybe that was my fault, maybe i was doing something wrong, but i doubt it because it was not the first time i was removing and reseting hands... You can give it a try though. If your movements' date wheels are the same (inner/outer diameter) it may work...
  7. I'm trying two days now to find information about older air-king dials with no luck. Does anyone know* if this air-king dial ever produced in black color? notice this is the older non-chronometer air-king.
  8. Any UPDATE is of GOOD help and BIG interest. I'd love to read it.
  9. Trusty's ROLSUB0016 had also received good comments in the past. It's on page 2 of his Submariners online catalog. Take a look. I have no personal experience with this but it looks fairly good from the pictures. To be honest if gold was my taste i'd give it a try. Absolutely beautiful watch!
  10. Well i will take TTKs words as true about the "overall" quality of this new 2008 submariner, but i would feel totally stupid if i wouldn't pinpoint that the pictures of the genuine i posted are maginified/macro pics as well as those of the rep. Nevertheless the finish of the gen rehaut looks totally better than the rep (even in magnified pics) . And the letters on the rep cover the whole rehaut height. Not only that but are printed sparsely compared to the genuine -or- they look like sparsely printed because of the bigger font. And of course, as i usually admit, you CAN'T have a genuine at the price of the replica. But my *comments were merely a comparison of this new rep with the genuine piece. Were not criticism of TTKs *collection. TTK doesn't manufacture those watches after all ! He is a *collector. And finally, i do not need to be a rocket scientist or a SO called expert to keep my eyes wide open while i examine a watch . Thanks for reading. EDIT: Edited for typos.
  11. It's not bad. Does it have a HE valve? I've seen many low priced DRSD vintages which miss that crucial detail...
  12. looks way better on the genuine for sure... EDIT: rep seems to have bigger letters than the real one...Writing and rehaut finish looks "rough" too... Genuine below:
  13. Let me put things in their real perspetive: Suppose you wear your real genuine expensive watch (let it be a Rolex submariner as for simplicity shake...) , and someone asks you: " is that the real thing? " how would you prove that it is? Carrying every single day all the official Rolex paperwork and invoices in your pocket? I suppose no. So the only answer to: "hey, nice watch, is that real? " is: "yes, do you really like it? thanks." -or- Q.: "hey, nice watch, where did you get it from? " A.: "oh...at the stores i think..." And IMO dressing or car habits have nothing to do with a friggin watch. I know people who own a gen watch because they love watches and are mediocre dressed or don't really care about the car they drive. Sometimes they don't drive a car at all, or drive the car that the company they work for, offers to 'em as a bonus.
  14. I will always remember a phrase that a member posted here (can't remember his nickname and too lazy to find the post) : We was wearing his genuine vintage GMT (the one with the tiny triangle GMT hand). A lady called his watch a fake... He responded by pointing out her boobs (sorry if the word "boobs" is bad, English is not my native language...) : "No, not my watch. Those are fake!" Best response ever!!!!!!! I will remember that for the rest of my life and laugh every time i recall it...Gonna use this answer too for smartasses like 'em.
  15. That thing looks like IT was buried for 10 years actually ! Amen
  16. Really nice watches , especially the EXP II. you've got a pm about it.
  17. NATO strap is a nice look for this, but steel bracelet is a totally different look. Steel does contrast with the black color of the dial and distinguishes it. Black NATO strap looks in harmony with the dial and more sporty but that's not always what you want from your sub...especially when wearing a suit. Sometimes i used nato straps on modern sub and gmt II because i found that their bracelets had a better use in the kitchen as bread cutters...but after some time i switched back to 'em. Although NATO straps have a wonderful feel and fit on the wrist, when a nylon nato strap gets wet, you're gonna really hate it. At least I did. I didn't quit though buying NATO straps...I will also try leather NATO...boys play with their toys P.S. About the ebay bracelet...can't really tell if it's correct, i need a closer picture of the end links outer side...but seems correct or very close to correct. EDIT: Oh and what's wrong with your MBW bracelet...? I think they are nice...
  18. I will agree with you about the calculating thing that the dive bezel is supposed for, with one exception: that works only if the diver stays at a certain depth and does not go deeper or higher than that level. That hardly applies in real life diving i think. At least that's what i was told about...
  19. 16800 The great vintage dial markers with a date window and the modern flat sapphire crystal. I haven't see anyone selling this so far. Am i wrong?
  20. I am not a diver myself but having a close friend who is a diver and, he's got his "instructor" diploma from PADI, i can assure you that diving bezels of diver watches (like Rolex Omega etc.) are of no use for a serious diver who cares about his underwater safety. The reason is that remaining air/diving time is not static when the diver dives, and depends of the depth changes and other factors too... That's why both pro and amateur divers rely entirely on diving computers to have a constant and accurate information about the remaining air and time. Even specialized diver watches like Citizen Promasters, cannot give accurate enough readings as a diving computer can. But one thing's for sure...A Diver's Rolex Submariner/Sea-Dweller or Omega Seamaster is only just a "gadget" that matches his/her "I am a diver" profile and nothing more. Don't rely on them for diving. I am sure you don't...
  21. -security system -dogs to protect the watches. Hmm, interesting. Your expenses to protect them are gonna be bigger than their value. Plus, i would buy a dog or install a security system for my own life* protection primarily. Well, maybe i'm too sentimental after all...
  22. ...I'd say all of them on both wrists... Seems you can afford any speeding ticket (probably mine too? )
  23. That must be a Swiss Rolex... Wear it well Stephane!!! Great acquisition!
  24. I am in the unpleasant position to inform you that what you picture above is not Sparta. It's Thermopylae.
  25. A Rolex has nothing to be afraid of a Polex . Having said that i wish to add that Switzerland is in Europe and is real. Shitinerand is nowhere and is fake. And yes i belong to the mild-class people who set priorities on their budget. One of my priorities IS buying the real thing but it's down on the list so far. I can do many other things with those 3000-4000$ before spending 'em on a watch. But i will definitely do it someday because i am a watch lover not a Shitinerand lover. Just playing around with those nice fakes for now...
