I would agree...the whole running fast thing has got me really questioning how this can be...if some teeth were missing in the gear train...absolutly. But you would also see that on both the timer and visually. The running second hand is running smooth!

Francisco, you mean hairspring right? Not "mainspring"...Anything specific I should check for in the balance assembly? The only thing I have not checked in the balance yet is to make sure the roller jewels and impulse stone in sitting nice and tight to the assembly. I already adjusted the hair spring making it nice and concentric with no coils touching. I thought at first maybe the balance we just oscillating at a insane rate of speed, but if that were the case the timer would detect that. With my timer set to “Automatic Beat Rate Detection” it is purring along at 28.8k bph.

Yes I said 4 seconds fast per minute! Alright...So last night I ran a 28.8K A7750 through the cleaner and reassembled it this morning. Timed it out to +2 sec/day average in 3 positions...Put it all back together and threw it on my wrist...1 hour later looked at the time and said "WTF"...it is 4 minutes fast. Threw the entire watch back on my timer and still was running +2sec/day. So I took the movement out of the case and tore it back down to the base train...Put the movement on the timer and stil +2sec/day. Again WTF??? I then timed the second hand to go around the dial once with a stop watch and it took 56 sec. I know this is possible if some gear teeth are missing and the train is slipping, but that is just it...My timing machine is showing no noise in the gear train. Each wheel, tooth, pivot, etc checked out fine. The sweep second hand, sweeps nice and smooth, (no jumping like you would have with broken teeth). The palet fork jewels have good engagement to the escape wheel and so on...So I am clueless as to how the movement is timing out perfect, yet timing the second hand move around the subdial with a stop watch is 4sec/min fast... Any ideas, because this defies everything I know and have been taught about watch regualtion...Can't wait to bounce this one of my watch maker tomorrow.

I would first start with looking at having it repaired. Usually very easy for a watchsmith to tell if it is some thing simple or a full overhaul is needed. Expect about to pay $50 to have it looked at. Some people will not even charge you if they can not fix it or don't know what is wrong. I have had a couple pieces come around my bench that have been dead...most of them have been a simple fix such as a balance staff that was broke because they piece was dropped or a hacking lever that was stuck. If it does need major work, then you can decide what you would like to do based on Andrews feedback.

real or fake? tag heuer 2000 professional
Bike Mike replied to se10ery's topic in The Tag Heuer Area
Take it to a Authorized Dealer. Preferably one that knows their product that they sell like a Tourneaus. Stay away from the "Mall" type places. They should be able to tell you by looking up the serial numbers and seeing who it was registered to as the original owner. -
Why oh why did they have to make this watch so small??? Would be perfect if it was Navi World size!

Overall finish...it is not Swiss movement, but if they are serviced, they run fine...they just require a little more TLC during the service as they some times do not go together like a Swiss movement due to the fact they lack QC.

my Breitling Steelfish "Ultimate" franken...
Bike Mike replied to hackR's topic in The Breitling Area
No problem! I took my toe off the trigger! At least there was no confusion this time that went with the Skyland adventure! Sorry man! I could get creative, but if my creative idea does not work, well then you are going to have a crown that is permanently stuck on. -
Being the Breitling fan I am…I don’t think I would ever own all 3 versions of the same watch. I have both the blue and silver SOSF and have thought about the black, but one of the other colors would have to go. Breitling a poor mans watch? You can say that about ever watch brand out there, depending on what your perception is. There is always some thing more expensive that will be seen by others as a poor mans watch. Guys playing in the league of $500K+ PP's think that $100K Breguets are a poor mans watch.

Regular will work fine.

Do you mean by "Type of Pin"? Are you talking about the spring bars used to hold the strap on? If so, you just need pin bars for 22mm lugs. For straps…there are many options, but I have put all my strap needs in the hands of BlackBard. PM him, his straps are phenomenal and builds them to your exact wants.

Low beat or high beat movement? ETA shock springs are interchangable with the 28.8K A7750's, but not with the Low beats movements. The low beat uses a smaller jewel setting. I had a shock spring break on me, from a 21.6K A7750 and spent a hour looking at scrap movements for a replacement. Could not find anything...I ended up machinging the top plate jewel setting hole bigger and installing a high beat A7750 jewel setting I had. Work beautifully!

"Automatic" was added on 2009 models when the Baton markers can out.

The "Dead Seconds" complication would be a nice add.

Love the avatar Mike! My Fav. ones or the series: My Avatar, reflects my interests... Red Bull Air Races (anything involving speed and 100% pure adrenaline , Breilting (most watches), Aviation and The Motor City.

A lot of Chrono pushers work this way. It allows them to be water tight when in the locked-down position.

I have seen this version. You can find it on Breitlings site under the "Configuration" dial options.

I don't know about Acetimers, but I have seen rate issues on some pieces (Gens & Reps) that come into the shop due to magnetized hair springs. Typically a direct result due to the fact the lower end winders do not use shielded motors. Typically after the customer comes in a couple times a year with the same watch, the question will be asked "What kind of winder do you have?" or "Do you work near high voltage power lines?" I love my Orbita winders. Never had a watch run low on power even aftr sitting in a winder for months. Pricey, but worth the investment for a nice collection IMO.

Wow that is sick!

Looks like Breitling has come up with another lame Limited Edition piece...at least it is not DLC! This one is kind of unique as it has a clear case back. Given this piece and the limited Navi with B1 movement, Breilting is starting to show off their in house work! If you are going to make a LE piece, make is special that will make me feel good about laying down another $1 or $2K for it. Just don't make the hands red and dress the case up. Also, 1/2000 is not Limited Edition.
