  1. looks great... sapphire or plexy? only thing i dislike is the CGs and the winding crown, looks like something youd find on a zippo. wish they kept the original crown and lugholes
  2. It should be better than 8hrs... Is it also running fast or slow?
  3. some good ole' radio head "everything in it's right place"
  4. pretty nice, has a modern vintage look to it..if that makes sense. but yeah I agree does resemble a TAG
  5. wait, is this a gen or a rep? that 5, and 7 hour marker looks rough and the 15 date sits high in the date window? photo distortion?
  6. see a rep IS the shareware version of the gen, if you hadnt bought the rep, Rolex wouldnt be $10K richer now. it's a giant conspiracy I tell you.
  7. hmm nobody? do I even need the screw? does it hold tension in the regulator or can i just manually move the forks left and right with my screwdriver in place of the screw? like ive been trying.
  8. I have a TW bracelet and im trying to get a WM9 bracelet because the end links dont fit the lugs properly. what links do you need?
  9. $150 is ridiculous but thats what the market demands, so it IS on par. you can get older ones with the square 4 for $80, newer ones will def' run you $120 and up, negotiate for $120 but chances are good the damand will make it so you'll end up paying $150. you sure SteveM is dry? he always boasts about his hordes of parts and ability to get any part, ive seen the pics, stacks of inserts. Maybe he thinks you hang out on rep forums trying to buy gen parts to put in your rep a gen insert definitely looks better than any aftermarket i've ever seen, but $150 can buy a lot more of anything else. your sellers insert looks good. as for my wm9 watch all I added was a better (clarks)crystal, and a gen insert ONLY because I had one from a previous project, if I didnt already have it i'd just use a WM one. what else does it really need?
  10. im sure some people here would be some vintage crowns off you
  11. ETA regulator screw decided to just up and pop out of the movement today. luckily I found it. But is there some trick to getting it back in? it wont stay put.
  12. wm9 has a distinct look in general, after building one it's hard to not recognize it at a glance. also there are no close ups of any stampings or markings. THIS IS A WM9, my instinct tells me so.
  13. aaa makes sense any adivce for removing those tiny low sitting subdial hands? im gearing up to mod my moon watch
  14. I do it backwards to convention. I install the dial on the movement, put it in the case , reinsert the crown and stem and use that to line it up through the tube to center it. check the out side of the case for alignment using a small plastic right angle ruler to make sure its squared. then i install the hands, dust the dial and hands using compressed air at 1/3 of its power, clean the crystal and install it over the dial and case aligning with the date window. I like to build the watch once it's in the case that way if reinserting the crown stem into the movement i screw up the keyless works i dont run the risk of damaging the dial or hands when i have to remove them to access the keyless works. has worked out well for me thus far
  15. understanding the concept andy is using in detail so I can use it
  16. thanks? i think it was a problem with the barrel not engaging the rest of the gears, now it works perfectly.
  17. I say leave it alone, tampering will make it worse. right now it doesnt sound so bad to live with.
  18. yeah who am i kidding...i spent more than 2 hours last night removing every speck of dust i could find under the crystal in NOT 1 but 3 different lights and intensities. also used a whole can of compressed air... damn...we're sick
  19. in my experience the rep construction always ends in a bent bezel. Unless its made 1:1 chances are good you'll warp it trying to pry it off. the click spring or ring spoke is probably bent. does it even click anymore? it's it stiffer or looser than when you got it? if it doesnt spin around the bezel freely, it might be best to just live with it.
  20. hmm once i cleaned some debris off the barrel arbor with rodico it made a click noise and started ticking instead of just ticking back and fourth.
  21. when winding up an automatic eta 2836 for the "first time" how many hours does 1 turn of the crown get you? or if you were to wind it say about 40times or until it gets resistant to winding (fully wound). I think my power reserve on this one from PT is 1/3 of what it should be... also runs about 20 seconds slow, and when run down giving it a light shake causes the second hand to tick back and forth over a 1 second mark I know they boast around 36hours as spec.
  22. sounds good, but I too am having a hard time conceptualizing your method.
  23. http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Submariner-16610-Black-Face-Mens-Watch_W0QQitemZ190378526502QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item2c5371c726 seller claims D serial crown looks low pearl looks odd looks like a familiar face what do you think?
