  1. Before you buy a gen crystal be certain your MBK can accept it into its retaining ring as there are a few bad "new" MBK cases going around
  2. Are the reversing wheels turning when the rotor moves?
  3. no expert but that dial looks like its 'home made' im noticing some variation between: bezel numeral font, date size, cgs, and the second hand having a lume circle or not. between gen examples
  4. Yuki seconds hand has the lume circle further down the hand than other hands i've seen, and the hour hand point is of incorrect shape
  5. I dont see the point of buying a gen anymore after visiting the AD and learning the new list prices for the 16610.. ARE THEY OUT OF THEIR F'ING MINDS! I still cant get over it, ALMOST $7K for a watch with $500 worth of materials in it. then you go outside and look at your super rep as you put it back on your wrist and you cant help but laugh all the way home. there is NO DIFFERENCE ANYMORE! the watch feels the same, i've studied it carefully. by raising the prices of their watches every year Rolex stands to alienate their customer base and make their watches out of reach of the casual collector. Rolex will push their prices until they start to loose money. remember, you're NOT buying a $7,000 watch, you're buying a membership to an exclusive club, and I think the WM9 v3 MORE than gets you there, part for part the only thing the Rolex does better is the finishing, but thats not worth $6500 more and you can polish your own bracelet. the new ceramic black SS sub will cost about $9,000 in Sept my AD says as they mark up the 16610 because it's "discontinued"(a$$holes) and collectible now (what ever that means). when you visit the AD the price of BKs V3 isnt too shabby at all, in fact it's a steal! only thing it needs is a gen insert
  6. yeah i modded my cheap chinese shat one i cut off the plastic prongs that extend to "protect" the dial, put a tiny square of electrical tape over the metal plunger that presses the hands tightly to lift them off, filed down the claws that grip under the hands so I can work in tighter spots and finished them with some more electrical tape -to remove their sharp bite. not really a problem since. if you ask me all the contact parts should of been made out of rigid plastic to begin with. fitting the hands back on i use the hand presser bit that came in my set with some rodico on the end to pick up and align the hand, press it in place loosely free hand, then use the actual presser, cleaning off any residue left behind from the rodico afterwards with some optical lens cleaner and a microfiber... well thats my process anyways, feel free to borrow.
  7. removing and installing hands is the worst

  11. WAIT. let me get this STRAIGHT. YOU'RE BUILDING YOUR OWN CASES NOW?!?! HAH I LOVE IT!!!
  12. yeah, I thought that was going somewhere more climactic
  13. might just get some tubes with AF connect for $80 or con my gf into buying me the 2.8f 100m macro lens, hah for $5 I lost nothing and had some fun, cant stand the dust building up on the element tho tripod shot with reverse ring
  14. just got my reversing ring! great new dimension to my photography for a whopping $5! a few things i dont like about the reversing ring. it exposes the rear element of the lens to the naked world, and now has some nice dust living inside of it. technically: I obviously cant adjust the aperture, this leads to an insanely narrow depth of field, when i breath my focal point changes even slightly, but enough to effect the focus of my subject. Solution? I can either buy a manual aperture adjustment lens, get a real macro lens, get some tubes, or maybe try setting the aperture on the lens when its connected proper, then turning off the camera and reversing it making the assumption it might stay at f/11 or whatever i set it to, anyone try this, will this work? regardless this new toy is a good starting point without dropping some serious $$ PIC included, focal point was on 'swiss made' the rest is out of focal range, taken handheld
  15. DAMN that's sexy! those CGs are awesome!
  16. the engraving on the early gen IIc didnt line up correctly either
  17. I have a mame cabinet project i've been holding off on for awhile now.
  18. dial says "swiss made" instead of tritium amount, if it were a service dial it would have white markers, insert and case depth look off, crown looks odd as well..doubt a gen tropic would fit this case
  19. one visit to an AD then returning home to your noobmariner will change your mind. problem with noobmariner: crown size, etched crown size on crystal -which you cant change, case depth -again NOT fixable, underpowered date mag due to case depth not being correct -not fixable, off mark engraving on rehaut .. or rather off mark black print on rehaut. not sure if thicker gaskets will fit, gen gaskets dont even fit my WM9 caseback properly. sanding cgs and an insert to fit properly... = headache -accept the noobmariner as is or just get a WM9. I choose an MBK because the mods you have to do is the same as the nnobmarienr except you can do them easily and some mods that cant be done on the noobmariner. Also have a wm9, buy it and wear it...just change the pearl. my MBK cost me: case 160 gen ETA 100 noob dial and hands with date wheel 35 clarks crystal 30 wm insert 25 noob bracelet 35 $385 not too shabby which was good for me a year ago. not sure the current wm9 prices, some have recently sold for $500-600
  20. could be. not sure if im up to the task of that tho. i would also have to fill the existing ones since they'd be too close to the redrill. I already bent the spring bars and it works very well, so I think im going to leave it alone. only problem is the v1 case is thicker so normal sized end links have a step down from the lugs on the side. not a big deal but obviously not perfect. so those v1 endlinks everyone loves SO MUCH because of their fit is because of the v1 being a slightly bigger case which corresponds with slightly bigger endlinks , i.e a tighter fit on normal sized smaller cases.
  21. the 2813 comes in nickle, this looks EXACTLY like my 4813
