  1. Seiko chronos tick once every two seconds when the battery is starting to die as an indication
  2. OR, if you're looking for a fun hobby project like I was, it can be both fun and rewarding to complete. Just take your time and go slowly and it should turn out well. Get familiar with your tools, and make sure you have the correct tools.
  3. I guess it's about time they moved onto the movements and really made things interesting
  4. glad I put lug holes in my noobmariner and did some mods, cause this looks indistinguishable to me. go noobmariner!
  5. ALSO. WTF?! http://cgi.ebay.ca/ROLEX-SS-BLACK-MENS-SUB...A1%7C240%3A1318 what's going on here? a few aftermarket parts perhaps? they claim 100% gen
  6. this looks EXACTLY like MY n00bmariner (minus the movement). if the seller didnt have 100% i'd say it was http://cgi.ebay.ca/ROLEX-SUBMARINER-VINTAG...A1%7C240%3A1318
  7. I personally DO love the submariner more, I'm just posting what I read in the reputable watchtime magazine. They showed an illustration from a bond novel and depicted was a rolex with Arabic numerals, and even a photo of Fleming at his desk wearing an explorer I. Hmm, either way I still prefer the subby
  8. a secret service watch probably contains a GPS tracker.
  9. I just read in WatchTime magazine, that although Bonds' model watch was never formally mentioned a close friend of Flemings has come out to say that Flemmings intention was for it be an Explorer I. not sure if you guys figured that out yet or not. but the magazine also mentioned the clues left by Flemming in the novels.
  10. i'd say DONT get your hopes up. I hope it works out, but I'm thinking what you're going to receive is a movement with day date month chronos
  11. MY moon shot with a NON L lens, $350 55-250IS on a 30D f8 mirror lock up IS off
  12. quartz feels like a toy to me now. I remember thinking as a kid when i grew up I was going to get the best watch in the entire world. The one i saw was a casio calculator watch and the one with a digital chrono feature and one that could control any tv set ever made! pfft, kids... the Oyster Quartz hand sweeps correct?
  13. doesnt this model have a slow beat movement?
  14. sounds like the case clamp between the movement and the case was not tightenend properly. open the case back locate the clamp , set it straight aligned and tighten the screw down
  15. a quartz watch lacks a real soul. a mechanical watch has a heart beat you can fall asleep to... if you die, your mechanical watch can rundown and die with out you. it's a testament to mans engineering, accuracy and functionality all comes down to a simple hairsping literally no thicker than a human hair. at least these are my feelings on the matter : )
  16. my current sub project is swapping out a 2813 for an 2836 clone in a SS sub, so far so good. I had to clip the dial feet and glue the spacer ring to the dial and swap the DW overlay to it. Just waiting on the sub ETA hands to arrive. So it can be done fairly easily , just always think a few steps ahead when executing this project.
  17. the noobmariner IS EXCELLENT, a very awesome looking watch the more you stare at it daily. I do find myself pining for a WM9 tho, the more pronounced crystal height, deeper rehaut and over all larger presence, and perfect date mag. if you can afford it, get it right off the bat. but even with the now aging noobmariner you WONT be disappointed. The noob' is a good starter watch to practise modding on as well. visit eurotimez for a noobmariner (on this board), and request pics of the very watch you'll be receiving to inspect it for yourself as well. you can also try the larger contenders like josh and andrew. any more questions, dont hestitate to post : )
  18. well to its credit i've seen a really jerky 2836s in a genuine mont blanc, and a jerky chrono hand on a genuine speedmaster hand wind.
  19. i PERSONALLY never had an asian movement run within acceptable timmings out of the box. you can regulate them fairly well tho. my 4813 was keeping +4 a day BUT when the date change drags over from 1030pm-midnight it slows the minute hand down and it loses time that way.... that wouldnt happen on a swiss ETA
  20. 4813 sweeps better than the 2813 but thats about it. date wheel drags over for a couple hours, and even the beat is still a bit jerky, my minute hand also loses time even tho the second hand is regulated
  21. i too have wondered what would fit a 2892 inside it without any inherent problems.
