  1. that pictorial just convinced me...i kind of want it now... i was all against it at first makes my sub look very simple in comparison
  2. its NOT enough to just check the movement, inspect the WHOLE watch for aftermarket parts, thats a common scam.
  3. wonder if theyll update the style anytime soon...
  4. YEAH BUT it still shattered the suspension of disbelief for me, i've seen every bond movie thus far and some of the elements of all the previous films seem plausible or is skillfully done cinematically that it didnt bother me. only thing that was EVER "yeah right" for me during bond flicks were the precise timing and luck that agent 007 had.
  5. i hated ALL the EXPLICIT product placement in Casino Royale, and the playing of texas holdem to dumb it down for american audiences who wouldnt understand baccarat... the action more than made up for it...but still. quantum will be awesome never the less, hopefully minus barrel rolling Aston Martins and DIY resuscitating glove boxes... that was just dumb.
  6. i dont think many people appreciate its simplicity
  7. i dont know the context exactly but it seems almost insulting... like "here is my garbage, ill let you pick away at it" an empty box IS a let down, whlie he parades around with his Rollie on your sweat you can enjoy his cardboard wood lined box...maybe it's just me... i see you wear shoes...i have plenty of empty shoe boxes that i use for receipts...youre welcome to rummage through them, and keep what you like... : P i guess it's still more than any boss has given me...ENJOY! : )
  8. i was looking at an ETA powered montblanc today and i found the sweep as choppy as my DG4813 asian (28.8k)movement. even a few datejusts i've been looking at i've noticed a stutter... so i WOULDNT worry about it too much. if it really bothers you try to retro fit a Zodiac SST 36k movement to your case OR an Accutron 214...how cool would that be!
  9. only thing that would effect sweep vs one over the other is if its regulated or not and if there is a beat error present. both in theory should be able to be tuned to the same smoothness. you get one answer per 4months : P J/K regards
  10. no need to worry, ive taken my sub apart compeletey and held a lighter to the crystal for 5minutes turning it black... in other words you didnt break anything... i reassembled using a $20 crystal press and it worked fine for me... your biggest worry should be about getting dust and debris on the exposed dial, i can never seem to get rid of it all once i remove the movement and dial, even with rub off. but im very picky about little things being just right. either way --NO worries youll put it back together as good as new and learn something about it in the process
  11. the bezel looks terrible, i'd wait on this one, its still too new for a super rep
  12. my packages DONT even sit in customs for 48hours... more like sorting room floor..... but YES it is NOT legal to import reps into Canada... they just dont enforce it and the end user will never be accountable
  13. i ALSO live in Canada and have never been charged import taxes or have had any thing seized. our dealers are smart about filling out the declaration colorfully. only time ive ever been charged taxes was importing stuff from the U.S for some reason none of which was a rep and i seemed to have paid some arbitrary amount in taxes too. i import a lot of stuff from china and i feel they just kind of wave it all through : ) maybe *im* just lucky
  14. eurotimez has some good prices on right now for the noob sub... skip the DG2813 tho, i loath the jerky sweep of the second hand... get the 28.8 DG4813 AT LEAST. $40 more installed. VERY ACCURATE time keeper in my experience. only thing i dislike is the date takes a couple hours to roll over where as ETA is in one motion. BUT for $100 dont know if its a big deal. you might also want to purchase some watch tools to correct minor things that you receive from the dealers such as off center bezels, un level crystals, and crooked dials... all those things will eventually eat away at you : ) the noob size is actually 38mm and feels a little small, euromariner is a better feel on the wrist, date mag may still be a little under or that may just be a limitation of the noob dial itself, ive had problems getting inserts to fit on the euromariner (albeit none of them were gen) theres also a PT sub model worth taking a look at... BK offers good stuff, but i find it more fun personally to DIY, plus im not sure the waiting period for his offerings
  15. i forgot to mention if you got the euromariner and the insert fell out and was previously glued back in by the dealer youll need to scrape out the hardended glue from around the inside of the bezel for *anything* to fit.
  16. the "M's" ive seen with engraving are Sub NOT Zub
  17. our reps are 316L which is what most stainless jewelery is.... 904L is in house ROLEX only. 316L is surgical grade and used in such settings... 440 i believe doesnt have the same salt water resistance as 316 but is a harder metal... why so curious?
  18. sub looks very nice. CGs still need doing...but not as much as the MBK which actually looks perfect *IF* you turn the watch upside down : ). i dont even notice the engraving on my euromariner with out careful looking... only problem with the engracing is then your watch is expected to have certain other specifics from that model year... the noob dial is incorrect for the 2008 engraved model, and the bezel insert numeral "4" must be pointed instead of the flat roof one. with out the engraving it leaves what year your sub is open to interpertation. that clasp does look a lot better than the noobs... your dial is correct in the fact that the minute markers around swiss made are taller on either side for that model year.... the Zubmariner line of text im not so sure is correct... still very nice looking, ill have to get my hands on one
  19. i assume the dealers dont offer factory fresh ones either, and this being a Tissot movement would have some sort of regulation done to it, where as the dealer ones wouldnt... does any one have experience with a transplanted movement from a commercial watch?
  20. with the rising costs of the 2836 ETA movement is there any reason to NOT extract one from a vintage model off the bay and install it into our reps? for example a $10 TISSOT with a 2836 vs a $150 for a brand new one... seller says movement is immaculate http://cgi.ebay.ca/GENUINE-VINTAGE-TlSSOT-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  21. i also got a 16800 from a local shop that had ones with very nice pearls for cheap and it did not fit my euromariner... so what aftermarket fits the euromariner by snapping in?...besides the genuine article of course
