i have an asian made gmt movement, its 21k, a little choppy looking, have to set the gmt hand 12minutes ahead of what the actualltime is before it kicks in, shares a set position with the quick set date. one of the gears in mine is grinding, so every time i open the case i find metal filings all over the place...even a few specks on the dial...

i always assumed the high priced steel ones were platinum at the AD -
truthfully i thought the engraving would bother me, but i dont even notice it when checking the time, i even forget mine has it. only upon close inspection i see it, and truly its not tacky looking or badly done.

VERY nice... what case S/N is this built on? -
my MBW STOCK insert just fell out and wont snap back in... looks like it was previously glued by the dealer. hope this wont be the case on a gen or generic gen.

any of the dealers listed under the collectors section seem to be vouched for on here, and sell more or less the same product. silix seems to have better prices but sometimes not the best reproductions, angus seems to be MIA, eurotimez is new but is revolutionizing customer service and warranty (costs a bit more). he'll take care of you, but i dont know if he deals pans yet. so pick one and enjoy, theres individual reviews, and of course no single dealer is perfect, but theyve all been collected from prior, so theyre all good, and you wont get screwed, youll get what you paid for, if not theyll make it right. at this point in time only eurotimez gaurantees GENUINE ETA movements but deals mostly in Rolex

what a piece of "JEWELLERY"... thats what it's become.

that thing is gross looking, and so late 90s rep

swiss movements use better materials on the parts that wear. functionally swiss are typically 28.8k sweep, and instant date change at midnight. if this isnt a problem a chinese made movement may be in your future. i think ICHS is STILL the way to go. i can not comment if its worth the trouble of the accuracy of the hand stack, that seems like a personal desc.

both Josh and Andrew respond very differently... i personally find Josh more pleasant to deal with .

"Of cause there are those who actualy use their watches as tools, divers, pilots, navigators, explourers ect who will allways want a gen. When a rep Navi becomes good enough to fly on or a GMTIIc good enough to take to the south pole we're doomed." when this becomes true then rolex has to step up their product (more so), and really justify why spending 7K on a watch is correct when the chinese can do the same (as youre saying) for a few hundred...regardless of what is printed on the dial. at that point the chinese might as well call it literally on the dial FOLEX and its the same quality product for much less Rolex will still be in the same sinking boat. rolex is just a name, quality is everything and 1:1 quality is the major difference between rep and gen.

the rolex brand will always have a cult following until mechanical watches themselves are unmarketable... and i do agree that typing certain key words in google will result in rwg being the no.1 hit in the results returned and this can only cause problems down the road. a minority percentage of our community here is in it for the hobby and beauty that is a mechanical watch, for improving, fixing, and sharing, a true hobbyist is NOT out to make a quick buck, in fact in a lot in the hole due to this addictive hobby. and yet with beautiful reps i still see myself wanting the real deal down the road, because i feel ive gained more respect for the genuine article, sort of like getting my feet wet before hand, theres still NOTHING like the real deal. the people that appreciate what a genuine watch means to them will buy it, and thats what matters... i know rolex would love for everyone in the world who could afford it to own one, but a real watch fanatic will own the gen of what they want.

you JUST missed him!

i dont think the rep will ever fully emulate the experience of owning a gen, ive purcahsed two 16610 subs, and i find my self pining for the real deal more and more everyday. yes our reps are good and i dont feel as bad banging them around in the real world, but there is a legacy behind owning a rolex (over priced as it is) its truly owning a piece of watch making history for real, and being able to pass some thing along within your family that is worth something for the next generation to appreciate. i really dont understand the point in trying to see if an AUTHORIZED DEALER can tell your watch is a fake. It's their business and their livelyhood to know, what's what, so the obvious answer is, OF COURSE THEY KNOW. i take solace in knowing that the majority of people who are idiots when it comes to reps flash the $10 stuff (theyre not true hobbyists anyways) and the majority of hobbyists are educated enough to know better. it may be getting out of control tho. for the first time in ever ive found a local shop (in my semi-small town)that has an MBK style catologue for ordering (and they operate in the wide open in Canada) i assume business is going well for them since before they only had a few crappy omega models, so people are buying. what does and doesnt bother me about this; He only sells crap and knows nothing about his product. every watch is a straight forward 21jewel auto, no complications function. so what bothers me is he charges $200 for any model when i know its value is really $50-80$ but people pay this, at least theyre leaving with real garbage, but these people probably fall into the categorey of people who will visit the AD and flash a chrono with day-date registers....

the idea is to balance the clasp as much as possible between each side (so sitting almost plumb in the middle when held by the case in your hand and allowing the bracelet to dangle) remove a link via screw is one full size. use a paperclip to push in the spring bar in the clasp to adjust a half size whilst sliding the bracelet into the clasp.
