my local parts supplier sells them for $150, and probably gets them for $75, i bet only the distributor for the factory can get them for $45

over all for $25 dollars its(4813) a WAY better movement, better build, the hands dont flop around when setting the date as happens on my 2813.

matter of taste AND the engraving doesnt look quite right yet. PLUS with the engraving it can ONLY be a 2008 model. without engraving you can make your modern sub whatever year you want theoretically

i consider a true franken gen dial, crown, bezel, clasp. not sure where a gen movement would put it.

i think the AD (who he didnt know was one) invited the challenge of reps VS the real deal thinking that NO rep was even a threat... so did you say HE'S NOW a client? unrelated to reps i assume

n/p its an easy swap and theres a tutorial on here by ajoesmith that does exactly that.

or something just harder than sapphire... Carborundum, or fullerite. diamonds just a good benchmark. i think they advertise sapphire crystal as virtually scartchproof, meaning unless you deliberately try to damage it, during everyday wear you typically wont encounter something that will scartch it during work and play

dont buy it as an investment, you're better off buying a GIC or savings bond

Clarks parts on ebay, OR otto frei... Clarks is cheaper and i think more close to gen. i think clarks is sold by "nostalgia....." something on ebay

2813 on the left(euro) 48 on the right(noob). i had to try and compare the two quickly to keep the file size small so hopefully it'll illustrate what you're trying to distinguish. http://rapidshare.com/files/154992823/vid.avi.html ignore the condition of my euromariner as its undergoing renovations im swapping out the 2813 for an eta 2836, new insert pearl etc etc. as you can see the 2813 is more stepped in its tracking around the dial, the 48 is noticably smoother *almost* fluid..at least to me.. but i mean really whats there to think about? the 4813 costs like $10 more than a 2813. just get it. or get the eta and have a watch that'll last at least 15 years or longer and instant date change at 12 midnight. i picked up the eta for $90 delivered. but now i have to get the hands ($21) and swap over the date wheel from the 2813 (free)

For all the ETA experts: I know it's hard to tell sometimes but was wondering if i bought a real ETA or a clone. the pics kind of suck, but i picked this movement up for $90 firm, the ETA logo is there and is etched very crisp on the plate, there is NO 'DM' but instead 'PH' (phillipines perhaps?) the sheen to the finish of the movement is a creamy gold color, some of the fakes iv'e seen are a brownish gold color. either way here are the pics: thanks guys

I initially liked the Lancer ..it LOOKS awesome. like an airplane from the front. test drove it. it was weak. then i drove the mazda 3. nicer interior, it felt more natural, and more punch even tho it had less horse. only thing is it DIDNT look like the lancer. dealer offered me free skirts and spoiler to get it more lancer like if i bought it. still undecided but the Mazda3 is worth looking at. probably even cheaper on insurance... at least here...as for Mercedes Benz...well everyone knows it's made in Mexico

ive been trying to figuring out what or who (a) DW is. i've searched the forums and couldnt find an answer. I know it refers to the case or the quality or something to do with daytonas... maybe like MBK? i can usually figure this stuff out, but this has me stumped, and is such a noob question

it's a VERY Asian thing to do. and its more susceptible to dents and dings! oh well to each their own...enjoy!

wm9 is kind of a grey area around here, some think he's alright and totally worth the premium, others put him in the same class of dealer as those selling genuine 27 jewel swiss movements with 440 steel. you may want to check out eurotimez euromariner, the new batch from him is cheaper than wm9 and has been revised with no engraving and better crystal. chris from eurotimez is also a well received dealer here

its also easy to misalign the threads when screwing it down and having it screw down at a bit of an angle leaving a bit of the bottom exposed as a result. this happens on my noobmariner often because of the NON OEM after market crown but original noob tube. try using your thumb againt the crown and screwing it down straight, if it still doesnt screw down all the way perhaps one of the threads wasnt machined properly OR what patinga said about the oring

glue it back in yourself, its simple, if you lost the insert order one off the 'bay. this is probably the least of fixes you'll have to do to watches you receive over your rep collecting 'career' have fun
