Where can I find a MBW 1665 GWSD dial?
highoeyazmuhudee replied to Zackb911's topic in The Rolex Area
the ingod dial is very nice rail dial, MBK is good also (not rail). cheaper too. -
the MBKs should be gen dimension, all parts should fit. compared to yuki the MBK is better value. looks sweet! good to know the 2783 fits. whats the origin of those endlinks? MORE PICS!

whoops my bad, thought you were talking about the sub
-
...or wait for BKs new offering in the new year
-
just wondering... no more superlumed components? any price point as of yet? will yours feature non engraved rehauts as an option? looking forward to a new BK offering
-
this is for the vintage sub, i might be mistaken but you were looking for the modern 16610, no?
-
no love for the AUDIS on this forum?

i can appreciate that. to tell you the truth tho the bezel sanding really isnt high stakes modding. keep it flat on a smooth clean surface and use the drum sander attachment on the dremel. even masking off the business side of the insert with electrical tape is a handy idea that ive used, prevents errant debris from scratching it. aftermarket - ive only ever used WO ones and WM pearls. its a good combo.

great find! indeed looks 100% gen. im my experience though OMEGA ads dont know much about their own watches, its like buying a home theater system from bestbuy. -
Battle of the $200 White 1680 - PT vs. Josh
highoeyazmuhudee replied to bkwbkw's topic in The Rolex Area
VERY INTERESTING. lets see some case shots, like lug hole position, case back engraving, clasp, endlinks. ive never seen an MBK with a 5512 case back engraving, and the cgs are completely different than what MBK offers. the dial/insert is also not MBK. 'Polex' could very well be a coincidence. my guess is its a copy of the copy maybe some comparative shots i found what else besides possibly the case is useable on KINGs watch? MBK cases w/shipping can be had for less than the cost of the $200 watch -
good news is it appears to have a gen like construction. as for fitting it back originally make sure the click spring isnt jamming it up and the washer is in correctly and not warped. when you reinstalled it did it snap back on with a confirming click or no?

Battle of the $200 White 1680 - PT vs. Josh
highoeyazmuhudee replied to bkwbkw's topic in The Rolex Area
i thought the josh and PT were the exact same despite what marketing twist they throw on it, be it "doomed crystal" or "NON dissected" lab frog older MBK 1680? if you get the correct POLEX watch there really is and always was just one. if you go back to threads from 2007 you'll find the same serial numbers offered on the watches from 2010. the trick is to get the 5513 case that contains a 1680 dial and crystal, if you ask for a 1680 you'll get something with a one piece solid case that you dont want. IMO the 1665 from the same factory as PTs 1680 wasnt worth buying if you have plans to mod it into something outstanding. it needs a lot of work, youre basically just getting a slow beat eta that requires immediate servicing, a movement that can be had for less than $200 and a case that requires a total overhaul. out of the box its totally a good buy, but the experience ends there. -
buy a gen http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Black-Submariner-Insert-16610-16800-168000-/300506102615?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item45f78f3b57 use "make offer" offer $90-$100 or even "locally"

Taiwan is my guess, although the chap that runs the MBK shop has personally told me a different story about their origin, not sure i believe it. but to be honest ive never seen mbk cases any where else, even the cartel dont sell them "POLFY" "POLEX" seem to only come from one place, and the factory is his closely guarded secret, ive tried to pry but to no avail. it seems the PT is made to order with an ETA of one month, im not sure what a large order would accomplish. i have no idea if MBK even has 16610 cases any more, my guess would be yes, there is currently no order pool, but i will find out for you in Feb if v4 cases are even available , knowledge is power @R_Squared i believe the MBKs had such good dials because eurotimez retrofit replacement noob dials as a part of his standard 'euromariner' product, but ive heard the stock MBK 16610 are garbage. the wm9v1 Zubmariner dial was always too faintly printed for my liking. BKs v2 dial was excellent, hell -even the noobmariner dial is outstanding and cheap to replace!
-
i'll check on the production status of that case for you in the new year, as i want some more 16610 mbk cases as well and planned to pick some up including A serial ones
-
im very interested to see what BK has in the works, i never bought a wm9 per se, just parts, but id love to finally get a decent 16610 you can wear out of the box, god speed BK.

My 600$ Mistake From Watchmaker9 - 18k Blue Sub
highoeyazmuhudee replied to davidk's topic in The Rolex Area
WM9s gone from what i can tell. Rolex had him assassinated. no, but really, i dont think he's coming back, is there any way you can get your money back? cause i would start thinking strategies with that. -
you sure that engraving is aligned correctly? the minute hashes dont seem centered with the letters. this also doesnt look like the same "supreme" i bought from PT that indeed had gen construction. cgs and engraving is different from what i can see. pop the bezel, we need to know.
-
well if you have some experience you might be ok, its maybe 4 times as hard as changing a datewheel. just be aware of how everything in the keyless work interacts or you'll reset it incorrectly and have to redo it. keep it clean. and dont forget to put the hands back on at the click over point.
-
hmm not sure if id recommend someone try this. its straight forward but theres a lot of little things to consider and specific tools required. are you mechanically inclined or not so much? are you nimble with good motor skills? have a good enough memory? aware of contaminants? can solve logical problems? have a 1.20mm screw driver? hands remover? hands press? movement vise? rodico? dial protector? compressed air? anti-magnetic and acid free tweezers? if you care about this watch i wouldnt proceed with nothing less.

Tons of 1665 Yuki case pics(pic heavy)
highoeyazmuhudee replied to Original Scope's topic in The Rolex Area
it seems like you can. and thats who im building my reps for. to be tested against your discerning eye. when my franken 5513 is done id love the input. as for the yuki case, am i to understand it didnt accommodate 2mm bars without you having to drill it? as for the insert ive seen many vintage gens with asymmetrical pearls, its happens more often than youd like to believe -
AGREE 100% until you hold a gen insert in your hands you wont understand the subtleties that make it so much better.

interesting... -
im sure the factory and the means to make more still exist, its just a matter of finding it, Taiwan's a good place to start.

Tons of 1665 Yuki case pics(pic heavy)
highoeyazmuhudee replied to Original Scope's topic in The Rolex Area
the 1665 from MBK is a good value case. i would only consider the phong and maybe the NDT over it. for the price tho MBK is excellent value. Yukis 1665 was never worth it, the yuki 5513 might be better than MBKs 5513 case but ive never had the pleasure of finding out. less than half the price, non functioning he valve = no leak liability and really what do you need a functioning valve for? there are threads on this board about fitting gen movements in here as well.
