  1. HA! i like how people try to sell this air king on the bay as exclusively collectible when in fact its the opposite
  2. absolutely nothing, its worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it. much like stocks and lending money you dont actually own which in the end causes all sorts of economic problems.
  3. even 5 years ago 5513s could be commonly had for just over $2K used. now theyre $4-5000. Tudor subs now seem to be following this trend as well.
  4. ive bought NOS crowns off the bay and the gaskets were literally melted goop. i would replace the gaskets if the crown was sold loose. the one for sale on this forum is nice , but agreed pricey.
  5. unless its really dear to my heart i'll clear the box and parts in order to experience new pieces, makes funding them a hell of a lot easier thats for sure... unless i really like it i think of buying watches as renting them with the option to own.
  6. so history dictates you should buy all the subs you can now and in 20 years youll get 10X your money back bah, there's faster ways to make money.
  7. depends if youre going for a 702 and 702 tube or 703, or a 700 and 700 tube. I believe the 702 is more original/correct for this model and model year but the watch is set up for a 703. on average expect to pay up to $80 for a loose crown, BNIB i have no idea, but more.
  8. looking good. the PT inserts are nice but too shiny, dull it up
  9. for me its an aftermarket crown tube since a gen tube costs usually 10X as much, despite all natural hindrances im going to buy one from WO since ive heard nothing but good things about their tubes. the tube is not visible and would get little use once i set the watch. as long as it keeps water out its not something i would go gen. if it had a rolex logo on it then i would have to, but no one will call a rep based on the tube if its the correct type. theres a 702 set for sale on RWI Nan' @justasgood -whats a fair price for a sealed vintage style 703 crown?
  10. what alien technology is Rolex using...!?
  11. i think no one will buy it even in the last second of the auction
  12. oh im all for quality kitchen knives too! i hate knives that cant cut meat properly, plus its also dangerous to have dull knives. I find the Victorinox kitchen knives to be among the best for quality to price, they have good reviews and seem to offer the best value.
  13. that is pretty sweet, but i could never bring myself to pay almost $800 for a piece of $20 metal, hell i have a hard time paying $35 for a high quality kitchen knife
  14. was this a gen or built off an MBK case?
  15. MBW 1665 white dial and installed in a previous build, long sold. PT has nothing on this dial
  16. this is the only caseback ive seen the MBKs come with these days. from the most recent one i sold. which IS correct for the white. i love everything about these watches except the way they feel on my wrist, too tall and cumbersome. it sadens me that this is what stops me from wearing one, because they truly are beautiful and have some marvelous character and history.
  17. i was pretty sure all bezel and retaining rings were package deals, you need both from the same source for a proper fit. I remember Ubi modding his sub with a gen assembly
  18. the PT can only be modded so far, if your going for accuracy you buy the PT and take the best parts to use on an MBK, like the datewheel, the bezel insert is good enough on the PT to be reused IMO, the PT spring bars, bracelet since the MBK isnt that much better than PTs bracelet, and of course the 2846. this is what i would do if i were serious about a 1665 rep. its still relatively cheap and no where near NDT/yuki prices. my 5513 im slowly building will probably cost me about $1200 when all is said and done. so far i have an mbk 5513 case mbk bracelet GEN dial GEN T19 GEN insert GEN crown, tube 2846 WO pinbars clarks hands but i still need to get the movement serviced by the zig' lug holes done and tube replaced, and im trying to find some GEN 580 endlinks im probably about $400 away, 5 years ago i could have bought a used gen 80s 5513 for only $1000 more. 1665 parts cost significantly more if youre going all gen.
  19. while were on the subject if any one has some gen 580s they dont need
  20. the @cost on an MBK bracelet is $55, confirmed with my buyer months back. so expect to pay something north of that, which isnt worth it even at $55, factor in the dealers take and shipping charges you wont want to pay the asking price or the selling price wont be worth it for the dealer. i dont sell them because of this. for the price the end links are incorrect and the bracelet bar link is also incorrect, the coronet stamping is better than most, but not that great, better than noob, worse than wm9. just get some gen end links and smooth the coronet on the noob. cheapest solution since that bracelet can be had for $35
  21. as close as you can get without going quartz, and even this one has been modded. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43703575@N05/sets/72157624860081812/ i find the moon watch to be slightly bigger than a modern sub mostly because the end links sit more flat
  22. what do you think of this one? the engravings look off to me. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Rolex-Vintage-Submariner-5513-Stainless-Steel-case-/220689067444?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336217edb4
