that bezel ring in the first picture is absolutely horrible. its not a v3 and i dont even know if that IS a v1. v1 looks better. dial looks 'ok' some are printed better than others, the 9 oclock marker on mine was a little rough looking. inconsistent printing, qc differs at different parts of the production run, over using the templates beyond what they should, not evenly applied ink. etc etc. v1 bezel ring (right) as i posted in your other thread your insert is also sitting TOO recessed. who made that bezel? this is how recessed it should be mbk case, v1 bezel ring and WO insert. wait what am i saying? you own a gen! see for yourself

i started a project like this with a wall clock based on a 5513 dial, was more of a modern service/fantasy dial, but wasnt so concerned with accuracy on the wall clock. looks good none the less

How to attach the crystal on a submariner
highoeyazmuhudee replied to klocklind1's topic in The Rolex Area
the hardest part of the process is ensuring the crystal is 100% clean and spotless, dust is the bane of my existence. next would be pressing the retaining ring correctly, straight and with enough pressure. you can seriously warp it if youre not careful. if pushed too flat you will also stiffen up the bezel ring from turning properly, but too little press and water may seep in. -
who was having problems with the loupe position

so really nothing besides the low price for a complete watch and a slow beat movement which may or may not be recently serviced. -
nothing compares with a gen insert, the way it reflects light and the subtle texture ive never seen replicated. the aftermarket ones never seem to get the detailing of the serif perfect either. average joe wouldnt notice, maybe even an AD, WIS would 100%. the WM pearl is the best available but still doesnt really look like the gen. at a close glance you properly couldnt notice the difference between gen and WM pearl.

Stripped down my PT SR 1680 and found this - PLEASE HELP
highoeyazmuhudee replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
are you missing a friction washer? id check the case for evidence of water seepage, which would have prompted this epoxy overkill... unless the original owner was being preemptive to such problems. -
Would i be happy with a Vintage Seadweller 1665?
highoeyazmuhudee replied to Prsist's topic in The Rolex Area
height was the exact reason i sold mine. the watch looked absolutely beautiful in every sense, i admired it endlessly, but once on the wrist it felt just too tall and cumbersome, i was always conscious of its presence. opted for a 5513 instead, feels perfect to me, no date complication and an understated elegance. given its not as cool or as high tech as the dweller its still a tool watch. only one way to really tell if the 1665 is for you, can always break close to even if its not. -
it does look asymmetrical, shapes seems ok, and the rest also seems good... not like this tudor i found that i believe is a yuki build being sold http://cgi.ebay.ca/Tudor-submariner-9411-blue-/130438252368?pt=FR_YO_BijouxMontres_Montres&hash=item1e5eb9c750

its getting to the point where you cant really tell unless you actually disassemble the major parts, the holes in the reversing wheels are a moot point, finish is also no guarantee. its almost visceral, but once youve disassembled a genuine eta and a clone you can identify the minute differences even if the rest seems to add up. its in the ever so slight discrepancies in shape, that at a glance you know arent quite right. post some pics, maybe yours contains some easy tells if it is indeed generic.

wow people really do buy other peoples trash. branding works.

what are the redeeming qualities of these new PT vintages then? -
came across this, clearly looks like ALL yuki parts to me. seller is deceiving by omission http://cgi.ebay.ca/Tudor-submariner-9411-blue-/130438252368?pt=FR_YO_BijouxMontres_Montres&hash=item1e5eb9c750

Comex 16800 - Did these really exist?
highoeyazmuhudee replied to redwatch's topic in The Rolex Area
NDT either manufacturers or imports and resells replica dials. they from time to time have gen dials, but all the "refinished" ones i believe are counterfeit with singer or beyer stampings and an 800% markup. -
ive used 3M scrapbooking tape from michaels in several builds without incident so far, ive actually had to use a hobby knife to separate it later when i wanted it off. dont worry about the dots, double side tape it to the spacer ring, the case clamps and screws will do the rest

proof pudding. WO "modern service T19"(the only model they sell) with an early 80s/service genuine 5513 insert. wont fit. generic mbk 5513 insert same outcome, another generic aftermarket made to fit, same outcome. wont fit means it wont install, which also means if forced the bezel wouldnt turn. would be interesting to see if their own house brand 5513 insert would fit over their crystal. and if you think this is an isolated , mistake of shipping or something, this isnt the first time this model T19 from them hasnt fit. firstly i thought it might have been my reps like you said, but once i started sourcing gen parts it was clear... plus given their track record and my experience with their retaining ring. their T19s even warped my retaining ring beyond redemption when trying to fit it, it also cracked their crystal along the side slightly. im done with WO as everyone here should be as well. i will only order 2mm pinbars from them, and only if i cant find some from someone like Clark first. the low price and cost of return shipping has let me collect these rather than return these. youve been warned. next same gen insert, over a Rolex T19 crystal, flawless fit. for OPs interest. WM91 vs 2 bezel rings v2 on the left, bezel teeth are much deeper and defined
-
but when your rep is made to match with gen, and youve installed gen parts flawlessly, you know there's a problem. your first clue is when a 100% gen insert wont fit over their supposedly built like gen Tropic 19s. when their retaining ring fits to loose over gen 295c crystals and gaskets allowing in condensation you cant tell me its built to gen spec. you dont have to take my word for it, send your money on an adventure.

Comex 16800 - Did these really exist?
highoeyazmuhudee replied to redwatch's topic in The Rolex Area
Comex were still issued into the early 90s is my understanding. always been curious who supplies NDT -
great gene pool!

i'll post pics later of the wm9v1 bezel and the v2 , they ARE different, v1 being really not that good.

was it rare to get a 928 in 5spd? ive only ever seen autos. in fact all the used ones for sale locally are all Auto as well. thatd be a deal breaker for me.
-
STAY AWAY. theyre wholesaleoutlet on ebay. i bought a replacement retaining ring and bezel assembly from them for my WM9, didnt fit well enough, allowed condensation to form under the crystal. i dont believe you can swap the bezel ring without also replacing the retaining ring, otherwise it will not fit correctly. unless youre replacing 100% genuine parts with other genuine parts. point is nothing ive bought from wholesale outlet has EVER FIT properly , their T19s DO NOT fit either, the outer diameter is fractionally too wide, i own a gen T19 and it fits the MBK perfectly. only thing i've ever bought from them that was actually decent was 2mm pin bars. I hear their return policy is also a hassle, although i didnt have a hard time returning that bezel assembly. they dont keep their feedback on ebay private for no reason. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=wholesaleoutlet990&Dirn=Received+by&Many=ON&ref=home each one 100% deserving no doubt. his response to anything that anyone comments as being poor or ill-fitting "SOLD THOUSANDS OF THESE WITH NO PROBLEMS" search for "mr.slimeball" in the forum archives. back to the bezel ring... ive heard other members mention the bezel ring on their wm9s and im afraid the only solution may be to go $400-$800 gen price route like many members have, if it bothers you that much, but whats next? the clasp extension holes not being drilled wide enough? which theyre not... closest most accurate 16610 but still not perfect.

that is one funky clasp! the problem with these cases is the CGs also need outer shaving.

Drilling Lug Holes in Non-Drilled Cases
highoeyazmuhudee replied to redwatch's topic in The Rolex Area
i would leave it to a professional like JMB, its not like enlarging existing holes which too can go awry. i have useless noob cases lying around to perpetuate this truth.
