  1. checkout SpinMaster's thread on gen crowns & tubes! a few members had ordered from him, and i ordered a set my self a few days ago, i asked him about the "open NOS" parts and he verified these are guaranteed %100 gen rolex nos parts. he ran out of the few sets he had, but than he posted that he can still source some if anybody will be interested his thread: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry542473 PM him and ask if he can get you the crown you want. hope i helped db1
  2. wow lots of useful tips! thank you so much freddym any piece of info will make the procedure more straight forward for me =] i already did, and know how to remove a movement, stem, etc.. but never tried to mod anything on a rep =] thanks alot! any help is always a big help
  3. thanks for the help so cousin's aftermarket daytona pushers are the closest to gen that is available? (Btw- what is the main diff. bwtween gen & rep pushers on the daytona?) does cousin's aftermarket pushers are more accurate and higher quality then what i get stock installed on the daytona secs @ 9 rep ?
  4. Hi , yeah i know i've been opening many topics here lately about a secs @ 9 daytona and Q's about mods. here is another one! i have made a little (well... not so little lol) search on rwg, and found a few posts about aftermarket DW daytona pushers being far far more accurate and higher quality then stock pushers that comes with the rep out-of-the-box. now what i wanted to ask, i plan on modding a secs @ 9 a7750 daytona (the one with the incorrect subdial spacing) i already discussed a little about replacing the rep tube & crown into gen parts. i was thinking about the stock pushers, are there any aftermarket pushers for a secs @ 9 daytona that are closer to gen and better quality then the pushers that comes with the rep ? and where can i get them? is it possible to fit them into the rep with only re-tapping and putting the new parts? what is the procedure? many questions- but hope i'll get some info from these who may know something about this. nice weekend to all =] db1
  5. its a secs @ 9 daytona (a7750) what do you think?
  6. hey blue thanks for the info! i already ordered one set of gen rolex tube & crown from SpinMaster, i'll also get the correct tap from him. found a 6mm tube tool on the bay for $39 (not shipped though) is that alright for this one? sounds like expensive for a generic "screw-driver" type of tool - but maybe im wrong =] i've seen a few members here that offer to heat the rep tube before trying to unscrew it- how should it be done? with a lighter ? and how much to heat? i dont wanna anodize the metal or have it get a "black" spot from heating it too much. of course once i'll get into it, i'll do every step with extra coution - since im gonna have only one tube to fit =] nice weekend to all db1
  7. hey guys 10x for all the info! i plan on doing a tube & crown mod sooner or later- still need to receive the parts, and the watch! lol... (hope silix took care of that all ready) blue: are you sure about that? as much as i know from reading on various topics on the subject- replacing the tube requires re-tapping, a little countersink hole in the case hole so the tube will sit tight. no one mentioned tubes being so fragile that it's easy to break them? maybe i will also need to be gentle when screwing in a new tube? about countersink the hole, can it be done with a "standard" drill ? or should i get one of these "special" flat-tip drills like they use in CNC etc? thanks for all the advice!
  8. thanks for the tip! other then looks- does it also feels better ? e.g. when screwing, unscrewing.. feels better quality? ive seen SpinMaster's photo of a gen tube and rep tube side by side- they look so diff... like the gen tube is all diff and looks bigger...
  9. I was wondering about this, as reps are becoming better and better each and evey year. i was overusing the search window in the last few days, but could not find much (only very few posts without much detail) what are the major diff. between gen rolex tube & crown vs. a rep tube & crown ? db1
  10. Hi, i am looking to buy a tap for use for installing a gen tube in a secs @ 9 daytona (a7750) im aquiring a gen tube from SpinMaster, and would like to get the correct tap for this installation The Zigmeister told something about a 3X3.5mm tap (?) but i cant find it on the bay.. where else? im gonna need this tap with a handle, and a tube inseration tool (or alternative) any help will be so much appreciated =] thanks! db1
  11. IMO a franken, is a rep- modded with gen parts to a degree where it is almost impossible to tell its a rep until you open the case back, (or if you've also got a gen movement...thats another story ) db1
  12. thanks for the tips The Zigmeister, you make everything complicated sound much more straight forward ! i'll see once i get the watch first =]
  13. The Zigmeister? anyone else who ever dealt with such mod ?
  14. hi, i was thinking about starting collecting some gen parts, so maybe in the future i'll start a little franken daytona project. i dont think i'll go the whole 9-yards with a full-blown el-primero franken, but more like small mods such as - gen crown, tube, maybe bracelet etc.. especialy the crowns ! that as much as i see on most reps , are incorrect size in compare to gen. what i wanna ask, does a gen daytona 16520 tube & crown will fit a standard daytona secs @ 9 rep ? (if its possible- what mods should be done in order to fit the gen tube into the rep case and etc..) any advice on this will be much appreciated! thanks P.S: also other possible considerations for modding a standard secs @ 9 'tona are welcomed! anything that dont require replacing the whole case! lol
  15. just bought one daytona secs @ 9 on a black strap from J at silix a little over a week ago, i didnt get the watch yet so i can not give my review on it, but silix has them. be aware that this version has wrong subdail spacing, which is in my opinion is not that bad since the secs @ 9 is much more relaible then the secs @ 6 models.. if you will browse a few topics downwards.. you will see a topic i have opened a few days ago about the same watch you are looking for, you can find some responses over there from people who has/had this rep. hope i helped
  16. both GT versions are advertised to have "light AR" on them.. but only the RACING version really has light AR on it (which is pretty good in most angles btw) the "special edition" version (all-shiney) is advertised to have the "light ar" but dont have any AR on the crystal though.. i have bought the racing version, not only for the light AR, but also cause i didn't want it to be too blingy (screams fake IMO) so the half-brushed case and bracelet are great. its all a matter of personal preference though =]
  17. 7733 movement inside this one on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/VINT-TISSOT-NAVIGATOR-...id=p3286.c0.m14
  18. thanks for the tips! yeah i hope the watch i'll receive will not have 0-12 @ 9 cause it will not be acceptable, i dont want to get into the hassle of shipping back for a replacment or full refund. on silix's photos it shows the dial correctly with 0-60 @ 9 so i believe he knows what he's doing. db1
  19. thanks for all the info and photos! i appreciate it very much i have ordered a SS black faced secs @ 9 daytona from silix, on a black leather strap.. so i wanted to know what to expect.. i know people are satisfied with the secs at 9 model cause its more reliable, and the subdial spacing is not a big issue for me so its cool.. how smooth silix's daytona works for you? other then the gold flaking out. thanks alot! db1
  20. hey there.. i also have a GT (Racing Edition) rep my self... black face with the "white" subdials... a7750b movement.. etc.. its a great watch!! i have it for about 10 months now , and i enjoy it very much.. its true indeed- that after wearing a B. GT... a rollie feels like some sort of light plastic toy on the wrist =] Bentley GT IMO is one of the most beautiful reps ever! lol wear it well my friend!
  21. Hey, just wondering how many on rwc has the daytona pre-2000 secs @ 9 rep with the a7750 movement (the one with the "wrong subdial spacing") how is this watch? (overall, accuracy other then the case and subdial spacing, movement, reliability, etc.. ) i tried to look on the board and couldnt find many topics on this specific rep. 10x
  22. yeah - i also think that making a half-decent (not even fully decent!) secs @ 6 movement would be the best thing- i wouldnt mind having the same secs @ 6 tona' with a reengineered "reliable" movement beating inside.. i always wonder it that would ever happen? it doesnt seem to look like anyone at the rep factories are working on a solution, or maybe there is no solution for the lame secs @ 6 gearing mechanism? just thinking..
  23. thanks for all the help guys and i mean a rep case, not a gen.. and i mean a case which used to have an asian 21j.. so probably there gonna be a plastic spacer.. is there a way to get around this?
  24. extra info on the movement i wanted to ask about: movement size is 10.5 ligne or 25.8 by 3.6mm any help will be much appreciated.
