i doubt its a real full ceramic insert, is really sound like an expensive procedure to produce something like this real ceramic and sell the whole watch for approx. 300bux. i also dont think anyone should try the knife test on these inserts =] only if there's one dead watch lying around though db1

How often are you called out about your rep?
db1 replied to chompawompa's topic in The Breitling Area
lol @ last post - thats a good line one day i was wearing my Bentley-GT-Racing black dial and some guy approached and asked: "this is a fake right?" the funny thing was that this guy was, wearing a very very very terrible, nightmare museum type, $30 canal street bentley big date, and i mean- a very bad looking one, maybe even too poor for canal street too IMO. well he insisted to take a closer look at my watch and said maybe twice "is this a real one ??" so i was thinking for my self "what would i do with this funny guy?" i was like- "well.. i hope so" and smiled back at him =] i believe lots of people cant tell much of a diff. i knew a few that thought that the best way to tell a watch is a rep, is by looking on its chronos to see they are not working like they should, some people dont know that the "more decent" reps has all functions correctly very close to gens. some other "experts" wont be fooled by the working chrono movement and nice AR, but wont notice an over-sized crown, bezel, inner bezel, etc.. good post -
"This is a screaming deal on an automatic 44mm chronograph Panerai. " yeah right... this deal is more likely to scream FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE. i am no expert in PAMs or the ferrari pams, but this guy shows the movement- which is in my opinon, and correct me if im wrong, not even a swiss 7750 and to make things even more straight forward- "We took this watch on trade and it has no box or papers. What you see is what you get. We had the watch checked out by our Panerai expert ..." (i think it is very vey rare, maybe even close to non-existing, to trade a $10,000, rare, luxury watch without asking for at least the papers!!) also shows very good sign of a scam artist with amazingly and strangely good feedback !! maybe he doesnt know what he had got there? i mean, maybe his "expert" told him the watch is genuine so he follow his advice eye folded. db1

kikom had probably read my mind i also wanted to ask about that bezel, i remember freddy that you have told me the rep bezel for the 16520 is crap. so what bezel is the most, close to gen aftermarket bezel i should get to replace with the stock bezel? for what details should i look for? is there any closeup photo of a gen 16520 bezel anywhere to look at? (i have found tons of gen 16520 photos of the internet but not a good and crispy closeup on the bezel) how do i remove a bezel from the daytona rep case and install a new one? seems like a razorblade need to be used here? or am i mistaken. cheers db1

O M G not only a joke.. thats a good one!! unbelievable 25 grands for a dial ?? and i dont care if that is the last dial exists in the world of this specific model! for that money i would buy my self a nice genuine daytona zenith and keep a little change for a gen sub

A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Leave Feedback
db1 replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
+1 i also think we should consider hiding rwg from praying eyes, you never know.. its true that as more sellers gonna have their accounts removed from the bay, parts will be harder to aquire- so if you would find any, they would sale for a redicilous amounts of money IMO. i hope for good =] -
same as the title: would an ETA 2890-2 chrono movement fit a rep daytona @ 9 dial & case? needs advice. (some people probably had already seen im digging about movements lately lol)

WTB: Bentley 6.75 ASAP like this one! But from where?
db1 replied to chompawompa's topic in The Breitling Area
hey, he had said that he got this rep from Silix. also , he made a notice "i went for the big pack"... and then he had listed what mods were done to the stock rep which were: Service, lume and chieftang's outstanding ar. ... which means this rep is not Out the box rep, he had taken an out of the box rep and did the extra things to make it that nice. i think this means: 1. get this rep in good quality stock. 2. get it serviced, lumed and Double ARed (service & lume by The Zigmeister , and cheiftang AR i think) this way you will hopefully get the same result. hope this helps db1 P.S: i am my self waiting for a rep to arrive from silix, had been waiting a month now! hopefully he will ship the watch to me over the next week. -
i wish i could find one genuine ETA 7753 for that price...lol thats why im looking for an alternative, dressing an ETA 7750 with the same layout plate the a7750 secs @ 9 comes with might work. but im waiting for a response from someone who knows better then me =]
-
thanks for the info well- i need this for a daytona @ 9, so i guess i dont care much about date setting =] what do you think, this mod can be done? dress an ETA 7750 with the a7750 secs @ 9 layout plate ?
-
is it possible to make an ETA 7750 secs @ 9 by installing onto it the layout plate from an a7750 secs @ 9?
-
avitt - PM sent

holly cow, are you sure slay? wow.. that makes me wonder how come many reps on dealer sites were offered with this Gen movement right out of the box. and what about taking a gen ETA 7750 and transfering the layout plate from a A7750 movement to create a "hybrid" swiss 7750 with the tri-compax layout? (i have seen a few posts about that- but no one ever got into it in depth) would that work?
-
i dont need date on the movement. just a genuine eta 7753 anyone knows of how much approx. these go for? are they available from one of the members here? (i have also heard about eta-7750 with an extra plate to make them work like 7753 but they really are 7750 base with non-swiss, asian mod)
-
hey Toad, thanks for the tip.. but i am talking about the swiss version of the movement, which i believe is more then $170 where is it possible to source one of these? or maybe there are modded swiss 7750 that act like 7753 ?
-
hi, just wondering if there is any source to buy a swiss eta 7750 movement with the 3,6,9 secs @ 9 config ? (e.g. daytona zenith and some navitimers configs etc..) is that the ETA 7753 ? just seen a daytona with swiss eta 7750 secs @ 9 being sold here, wondering from where the movement came from. any info will be great

the "better" looking a7750 oscillating weight for daytona
db1 replied to db1's topic in The Rolex Area
oh the rotor sound lol... i think i already got used to live with the noise, how does a bezel replacement works on a daytona @ 9 ? never digged into it- sounds like a good mod -
i was either very lucky or im blind- but with only the "light" AR on my GT Racing, the crystal is not visible at about %90 of the angels, on both full sunlight or less. about the "light AR" advertised on both versions- it is a fact that only on the Racing rep there really is any AR at all - and on mine it happened to be pretty damn good! RLudlowe: IMO the GT looks very classy, even among daytonas w/ diamond dials and all full gold blings etc.. respect to all other brands and models, but GT must be one of my all times fave! the GT is blingy, but with good taste, i have the black face with white sub-dials and it looks very well- i have seen some gen rolexes and other top brands worn on various wrists side by side to my rep GT - and it made them look downgraded even though i know these were gens.

the "better" looking a7750 oscillating weight for daytona
db1 replied to db1's topic in The Rolex Area
yeah sure it has a closed case back, but im gonna open and uncase the whole thing anyway for a mod, so i thought maybe at the same time to replace the generic weight. -
Hey, i've been looking around for the "better" looking a7750 oscillating weight for a daytona. one of the guides on the board have explained that in some of the reps there were much better looking oscillating weight installed on the a7750. it has the correct shape and a "daytona" marked in red. i am looking for one, to exchange with the "standard" weight that is installed on the a7750 of the daytona @ 9 does anybody knows of a dealer or a fellow rwg member who might has one? any tip would be great thanks!
-
some sellers on ebay put really funny price tags on their gen parts, sometimes it even gets me angry to see a used sub bezel, not anything rare or vintage, with tons of scratches all over it, being sold for over $150+ or crowns/tubes for over $250 each, etc.. none of these were rare parts, nothing to get too excited about- but still sold for too much! i guess that as long as they find someone that is willing to pay that much money- they will keep selling parts at insane rates.
-
thanks for the input freddy! yeah sorry for that, didnt see im trying a personal name. about the rep- you are right about the bad things on the secs @ 9 rep. but like you have said- i wanna trade some accuracy for reliability (i wish the secs @ 6 would be any worth tryin- but its like a gamble, i've heard some that stopped after a month or two, and a few that are more then a year old and running great) i know the secs @ 9 is not the most accurate rep, but i would like to try to mod it a littl bit =] already ordered a gen tube & crown for it from SpinMaster. i have the option to get a pair of sealed gen 16520 pushers. right now im not sure if i wanna get aftermarket or gen. (yeah i know gen pushers on this rep is insane- but it really is interesting once they are available.. or maybe keep them for a franken daytona project)
