Hi, don't be fooled when you try to order it they take payment then you get told it's out of stock. I did get all my cash back but I wouldn't bother risking it.
I have a swiss UPO and the gen rubber strap.
When I fit the strap with the upo springbars, there is a 1mm gap between the case and the strap.
I orderd gen size springbars which are a bit thicker to eliminate the gap, but for the life in me i cant seem to get the bloody pins into the holes!
Can it be done or should I learn to live with the tiny gaps?
I installed the gen bezel insert, crystal, crown and tube myself then sent gen dial hands and gen swiss ETA over to Domi to work his magic on putting it together......
Should be with me next week and maybe up for sale too as I already have one highly franken UPO,
i'm not sure if I can manage 2!
I love this watch, can also be modded with a gen bezel and for me its more or less perfect.
My only snag is that the rep 7750 movement is somewhat tempramental in my personal experience. But looks awesome.
Ok, Thread is a simple bit of fun;
Show us a pic of the watch and describe it for the forum if you think your watch is the best on RWG!!!
Ill start off:
Franken UPO, Gen Dial, crystal, hands, crown, tube, datewheel and bezel insert.
Nuff said!
Ive seen the extenders on ebay, I expect some precise snapping of the stem and extender is required to get the extra length? I only need about half a mil.
Could I get s stem straight from a rep factory through a dealer?
I have 2 franken UPO's
First one I did the crown and tube swap with no problem. Stem fits into crown at exact same length as before and movement worked fine.
On my second project, I snapped the stem, s got a replacement stem for the eta 2824. However then gen stems must be ever so slightly shorther than the jap eta'sand it doesnt engage the movement correctly.
Anyone got a spare stem from a UPO? Or know where i can get one of these ever so slighly longer stems?
I gave up on the 42mm 4th gen, being too difficult to source.
I decided to franken another 45mm, this time in orange. Ill probably have the black franken on rubber and wear the orange on ss. The crown/tube and datewheel are all the same so i sold the dial and opted for some gen 45mm parts.
I have just read lani's thread about a new 42mm based on the gen specs, so will wait and see and probably change my mind once more.
Until then my 45mm's will have to do!
Work in progress:
Just waiting for my gen eta 2824 from namor and a new set of hands and hopefully she will be ready to put together!
Ok lets start again!
I would advise if you like the PO, aim for a UPO, out of the box one of the best reps going. Would be a better idea than replacing a movement cos you cant guarantee the hands/dial will attach. good luck Aussie 1.
Yes well, probably about the rudest response to a helpful reply I have ever seen!!
You ask for help on how to rescue that piece of crap on your wrist and you get it, then insult a man who just spent his time trying to offer a hand.
downright ungrateful aussie1, bye.
I tried selling my highly modded upo and to be honest, I got sick of people trying to knock me down, its a lot of money for a rep, considering low prices on used gens these days.
I say keep it, sell the gen and be quids in, buy an alternative seamaster or another brand. Thats what id do if I won a gen PO right now.
