  1. I can't seem to get the size of the 007, I know the monster is 42, and it looks larger, is it 43 from 2 to 8? thanks.
  2. I just picked up an 007 after looking at several seikos, it was that or a 009. I didn't get a bracelet but think it goes equally well with rubber or metal. I just discovered some of the very cool custom work you can do with these, for example I found this place and might pick up another dial. http://www.mkiiwatches.com/ Also, I was on another forum and read about some 007 reps, if you can believe that. No way the quality is similar to what you see here and that makes sense. If you rep a 150 (usd) watch, the rep would have to be worth next to nothing to make it worth it. This seems to be a unique rep market as most people can afford a gen seiko. Nice watch, can't wait to mine shows up this week.
  3. Very nice collection. I agree, you simply can't do better than Seiko lum. In fact, I was looking at the 007 which I think you have in the bottom right. The one I'm buying has aftermarket hands and I'm a bit worried if they will glow as well and as long as the originals. Also, what model is the top middle one?
  4. I was curious about this myself,,,,it can be pretty tricky to get the hands right. If you turn it over, you might find that the hour hand will come loose since nothing is holding down the hour wheel. Looks very cool, Nice work.
  5. I had some similar problems, I think some of the difficulty is due to their level of security, which seems to be very good. I got upset a few times, but it all worked out and once it is set up, no problems. IMO, a good alternative.
  6. Addictions are really a mystery; they are both the easiest and most difficult things a human will ever deal with. Whenever I get a chance to talk to clinical psychologists, I always ask
  7. the vast majority of what goes on in the mind is unconscious, if you can access that, IMO you can make some major changes. The real problem is finding a method that can actually access this,,,,the bad news is that too many people have a money first philosophy and you never know....
  8. Just walk away.......don't let this person touch your watch again, it will only get worse.
  9. So tempting,,,,,,I almost picked this up a few days ago but held back. How does the screw down crown feel? If I do end up doing the deed, I'll probably go for white. Those pics are great and I have so many blue and black dial watches.
  10. Interesting question.....without doubt,,,,,option 2.
  11. I'm curious which of those words he needed the dictionary for.... Unless it just ended up in the picture by chance.
  12. This reminded me of a quote from Louis Abraham Breguet who said "Provide me the perfect oil and I will provide you the perfect watch" I am just beginning to appreciate how important this is.............
  13. Me too!!! While I've had good experiences with otto f, I'm always open to new places for parts. thanks.
  14. I had a similar problem with one of my gens. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...626&hl=2824 I ended up removing the winding bridge, doing an ultrasonic clean and oiling it with D5. I put it back and it didn't help things. I have only recently picked up on this advice about handwinding,,,,although I don't think I ever did much handwinding I think I may have done it too fast. The 28** should come with instructions that tell people to hand wind very slowly and only when necessary.
  15. No problem,,,,I can still add a few. Thanks!
  16. In terms of participation, this has been a very successful study. I
  17. Thanks,, I found this link,,,good vintage pictures but I can't place which one it was. http://www.vintagezodiacs.com/OtherZods.htm
  18. I just got back from this rather average movie; my wife drags me to movies about serial killers to make up for my conversations about watches. However, it did have a few good moments. One thing was that the killer's name may have originated from the actual watch brand and there was a really good shot of what looked like a zodiac from the 70s. I don't know the brand enough to know if this was a gen or just made up. The movie took place in the 60s and 70s, they did a decent job making sure the watches fit the time. Anyway,,,something to look forward to if you find yourself going to see this one.
  19. If he spent time on this forum, he would know how valuable your time and experience are to this place and watch enthusiasts in general. I might say ignore it, but sometimes that just makes it worse. In this case, I hope the mods simply use their power to ban those that obviously just want to make waves here.
  20. All I can say is that I understand what you mean. Regardless of how things might be made right by our very good dealers here, it simply sucks to get excited by a particular watch and have something silly happen like basic parts falling off. There would have to be a big change in quality control for me to buy another rep. I think some will have the same realization you had,,,for the money I spent, I could have had a good gen. ,,the rep makers can make any level of quality they want. If enough insist on good quality I think it could happen.
  21. Well,,,think how hard would it be to actually get that level of dirt on the underside of the case? it looks like someone just pushed it into the dirt.....but who wants to be rational about this?
  22. Talk about human irrationality!!!! I would love to pick up that PO....I
  23. Same quality as Breguet?
  24. Just got this for around 400 (usd), 43 mm. Very nice and the decorated 6498 is very well done. Great deal for the money.
  25. No glue,,,but next time I'm going to us FF's advice thin wood stick with a tiny dab of rodico putty wrapped around the end so they stick and you can line them up right before slipping them on. The problem is that it is very expensive learning to work with this movement. I mean, basically this Swiss 7750 is a paperweight right now....
