Sorry,,,doesn't sound like a huge fix, but still, I mean "ultimate",,,,,all kinds of stuff seems to fall off, bezel inserts, case tubes,,,doesn't sound very ultimate to me.

that is very nice! I would pick that one up in a second. The finish looks a bit under par, but not bad for what I would categorize as a tool watch. I can never under stand watch companies,,, I've seen a lot of sectors and none that I liked enough to buy. Why don't they make more of these???

Ok,,,,check this out. This is such a cool dial (a huge thanks to tourbillon1801). After messing up two of the chrono hands, I actually started to get the idea of how to do this and you can see the 12 hour hand is better. Also, thanks to birdman for a great deal on the movement, which I also managed to screw up. I'm still not sure why but I must have messed up the movement too, it just gave up and stop working all together. Oh well. I'm trying not to see the mistakes and see the potential. It is a work in progress.

If I include those that lasted a few weeks before the defect became obvious, let's just say I lost count.....

what is the magic touch to putting on the chrono hands on a 7750! I already bent two pins!!!! and when I went to straight'n them, the top broke off....

Replica Steelfish For Sale On Timezones Sales Corner?
chris5264 replied to chrgod's topic in Name & Shame
Perhaps putting up a picture of a rep was very much on purpose, like hey I know there are good reps but here is mine to compare it to. Kind of makes sense without papers, but should have included a high quality picture of the actual watch. -
Replica Steelfish For Sale On Timezones Sales Corner?
chris5264 replied to chrgod's topic in Name & Shame
I saw this on TZ also and had a similar reaction. On the one hand,,,,,yes, good price but perhaps too good. I'm no expert but the pearl on the top is a rep, but the pearl on the bottom one looks good. However, I would need some better pics before I got this one. -
Worst Post Of The Month (possibly Worst Ever)
chris5264 replied to ryyannon's topic in The looney bin
It is certainly behavior that the typical person finds impossible to understand. However, what do you think is the main reason people become psychology majors? they want to study the mind of a serial killer. If we figure out humans, we will need to figure out all the good and bad stuff. I mean, there is some serious mysteries in the extremes, the middle stuff seems easier to understand since most of us live it each day. This story really messed me up today........ -
These do not seem to be very popular in the US, but they look like a very interesting brand and I'm on the edge of buying one. any thoughts before I do the deed?

Anyone Watching The Watch Market? Slow,,,,,
chris5264 replied to chris5264's topic in General Discussion
I wish I knew,,,,,,I guess I would like my grail watch at a discount! I might end up with a Sinn U1... -
Seems like there are as many WTB as FS. Am I missing something? Where are all the great deals?

Is there a difference between replica watches and other goods? I only mention this because in the US, there is a store not far from me that is actually called something like "replicas r us" and they are totally open about selling replica purses and other items but I don't think they carry watches. If this was enforced in the US, I can't see how a large store in the mall could operate so much in the open.

Anyone Else Think The Rep Trade Is Taking A Nose Dive?
chris5264 replied to richard_uk's topic in General Discussion
It is a great rush to spend 250 (usd) and have a watch that looks like a 10,000 watch show up at your door. So, in this sense, I think the rep business will keep expanding and will not be affected much by a few, like myself that have been turned off. As mentioned, another market for reps has been for those getting into watch repair. 1) Because you often have to with reps and 2) most can afford to screw up a 200 watch, but not a 10,000 watch. However, it seems that there are more options now besides reps. For example; my latest project is actually from 100% swiss made parts. Totally cost for a gen 7750 project watch with a swiss 7750 is well under 500. -
Anyone Else Think The Rep Trade Is Taking A Nose Dive?
chris5264 replied to richard_uk's topic in General Discussion
Here is my problem,,,,and it's a conclusion I've really tried to repress for a long time but finally caught up with me. In the long run, I ended up spending a lot more money on reps then gens. Statistically, I think I've been rather unlucky with reps, it was always something, a case tube, a movement, or some slight imperfection such that I couldn't enjoy the watch. This is just my take and while this is still my favorite forum,,,it will be a while before I buy another..... -
Chronomat W/diamonds....swiss 7750 $2000?
chris5264 replied to crystalcranium's topic in The Breitling Area
I'm not sure what to add, except to say I could have posted this myself. I guess I would say the moment of things changing for me came when my ultimate PO crown tube broke off from the case. It just changed the way I feel about reps. I'm not anti rep in anyway but my collection now is all gens and if I go for another rep, it will be something under 100 (usd) just to try out the watch if I'm considering a gen. I actually considered one more as a last attempt,,,a breitling, but never got around to it. -
I would say the resale isn't high simply due to how low it is on the "need factor". I've been looking at a U1. Nothing really complex about this watch and yet the resale is very close to what you can buy it for new. Why? This is becoming a popular watch and a lot of people want it. Demand plays a huge part in what you will pay for a watch. If no one was buying up the U1s I could buy one for 600. As Sartre said "other people are hell"
-
I think the watch should be replaced along with shipping. I mean, you already paid for return shipping once didn't you?
-
I've tried everything from soaking a dial in red wine to using wood stain. The problem I found is that I could use the exact same procedure and actually get different results on two different dials. The whole thing is very unpredictable.
-
I've had around six of his screw down crowns. I actually got a few and replaced the existing ones on other watches. Not a one even started to show signs of stripping. Who knows what will happen over the course of years, but I think these are good quality and will hold up over time.
-
I use my right hand to write with and also wear my watch on the right which means that I always mess up the buckle or bracelet of a watch since I write with the same hand. On the plus side is that the crown on almost all watches is on the opposite side of the wrist, so I can do some really large watches without any problems.

I may end up going,,,,,I always wanted to see van halen with DLR, I will probably wait and see what the reviews are like. Even if the lifestyle caught up with eddie, I bet he can still do some crazy stuff on the guitar.

cool,,,I just tested the crystal I put in my Jimmyfu case,,,,,,,,,,,,,I guess I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right and I did..........

Adding A Day Dial To A 7750 With Only The Date
chris5264 replied to chris5264's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I've lost track of how many times I've thanked The Zigmeister for his help,,,,,,here is one more. In this case, thanks for letting me know I was way over my head on this project. Now,,,,,what to do. 1) find another dial that only displays the date or 2) find something to fill that hole in the dial....... -
I thought this would be easy and I so far have ordered a day dial, but it looks like there are more parts than just this. Will I need a day jumper and day jumper spring? (these seemed like related parts I found from a parts list). No,,,I have no idea what I'm doing, I thought the day dial would just drop in.
