5 bucks says it's a pinched bezel gasket. Remove the bezel with a case knife, inspect the gasket for a crimped flat spot, then use an exacto knife very carefully to cut it out. You can then reuse the gasket without the flat spot getting caught under the bottom of the bezel. If the flat spot is too large or the whole section is crimped - you will need to replace the gasket. Get one from a dealer or take a regular rep crystal gasket (not a C3 or any of H-Factory gaskets as those are too thick) and stretch it out very carefully to match the OD of the midcase bezel mount. When stretching, don't use too much force on any one section of the gasket, instead go around the perimeter of the gasket while stretching so you do it evenly. Fit the gasket onto the case frequently to make sure you don't overdo it and when the fit is nice and tight- press the bezel back on.

1:1 Rolex Sports Model Crystals with AR Under the Cyclops
w0lf replied to BigCrown's topic in The Rolex Area
"Troll on", are you serious? The only one I see getting steamy over this is you, BigCrown. That is of course easy to explain as it's obvious to anyone that you're using every rep forum as your personal outlet mall. -
I'm thinking that it's possible to turn the a7753 dw into a dwo for an eta7753 disk with some serious honing or if the a7753 dw construction permits peeling off the top layer somehow. It'll be difficult getting the alignment right but should be doable.

Did you have to get a new datewheel or modify the datewheel in some way?

Great story, cj, enjoyed reading it very much! Did you fix your window sill? -

Yes, all movements must be serviced eventually, it would be foolish to assume otherwise. The difference is that with an A7750, very often service is a necessity right out of the box or a few months down the road due to some of the inherent issues like rotor free spin on winding, reversing gear problems, hair spring coils not concentrically equidistant, improper oiling, dirt, cracked jewels, etc. With a brand new ETA7750 you normally have 5-7 years of trouble free use to look forward to unless the movement was NOS and the oil viscosity is compromised. Also, to comment on the clean movement option being offered for extra $$. I think it would be foolish to assume that if this service were to be offered it would be any different from the usual dealer claims of "waterpoof", "synthetic sapphire" or "all parts interchangeable with genuine". I wouldn't pay a penny extra for that service that would just be throwing money away.

Thank you likewise and I wish I had your skills, I would be using all A7750 too! It's funny because I got an email this morning that the French shop that had all these Zeno movements received new stock of 50 top grade ETAs and they're selling @180Euro again. "I received a stock of Swiss movements 50* ETA7750 finish steel screws / pearl bridge / mass with geneva rating. The price is 180 euros for a movement."

Very cool, nothing like a reunion with an old toy you've been missing for a long time

Some great points but I partially disagree. I think that keeping Asian 775x in your reps makes sense in several cases: - You're not sure if you love the watch, so you're just testing waters - It's a A7754 clone for GMT models or another not easily obtainable concoction from ETA - You can do full teardown movement service yourself. In all other cases, I feel that going with ETA is worth the slight added cost. For the past year you could easily have sourced a top grade ETA from Zeno liquidations between 150 and 180 Euro. And even if you missed out on all of those deals, which was literally hundreds of movements, our very own FxrAndy a couple dozen of new Hamilton branded movements for sale for a special price of 200 Euro for VIP members. It just makes no sense for me to spend between USD150 and 200 on servicing your run of the mill 6-9-12 or seconds @9 A7750 movement.

Precisely, less money in your wallet and more money in his. 1) Search "mauser ammo bags" and "stainless steel watch band buckle" on eBay 2) Buy tandy edgecote, sewing awl, hole punch, razor blades, glue and a spool of waxed thread 3) The 1st strap you make will pay for your investment 2x 4) ... 5) Profit!

Restoring an Angelus Cal 240, new longer cannon/hour/sec posts
w0lf replied to RWG Technical's topic in General Discussion
That's pretty cool, every vintage movement has a story to tell, I'm sure, but without the whole watch it could be difficult to figure out how things like this happen. Maybe the travel clock that housed this movement fell from a desk in one of the the cabins of some glamorous 60's cruise ship one too many times- 29 replies

Incredible stuff! You will have a long line of vintage builders needing sf240 overhauls from all forums Looking at the before pics the owner is lucky nothing was truly broken and in need of replacement.- 29 replies

It's not just the polishing, I'm afraid, the curve of the clasp is much flatter and theoverall thickness is less than the new style deployant.

Good evening everyone, So if my understanding is correct these movements are no longer low beat 7750b1 21.6 kind but instead are true 7754 28.8 clones? Has anyone played with them, do they still have a spacer on top and higher cps? It would be interesting to see a teardown of one of these. Any info appreciated

Love it! Wear it well
