That's THREE plugs now for those products, T. Somebody has shares in the company, aye?

It's Kiehls I used to use this when travelling.... http://www.kiehls.com/_us/_en/men/shave/ultimate-brushless-shave-cream---white-eagle.htm ...but found it hard to source recently sadly.

Dear god, how big is that monstrosity? Notice the usual "Made from genuine sample - 1:1" is absent, just as well Gen is 40.5mm just so you know. Have a hunch this is a touch larger You get what you pay for as always in this world. Nice of you to take one for the team though, sure you can sell it on to a friend without loss.

I swear that's the picture from the last psych evaluation I had. Didn't understand what all those butterflies were supposed to make me think of. They ARE butterflies, right?

Same here, browser and experience - much more useable now - no load times delays, choking when scrolling, rendering is perfect, and much easier on the eye. 1000 times better, thanks.

I've always thought of Repgeek as a playground occupied by thousands of nerdy 13-year olds in dire need of a Ritalin fix. You got out, just be happy and enjoy your stay here. But please don't whine and point about how crap they are - it's boring, a little childish and to be frank, some of us really just don't care.

What's the difference? Same thing to me, the latter is just a little more specific - whatever they're abhorrent as I mentioned earlier. If you're talking the use of cufflinks, then that's button-down CUFFS although I've never ever heard double-cuff (i.e. French cuff to you lot) shirts being described as 'button-down' never mind as 'collars', that's just plain weird and wrong in so many ways. That old 'two cultures divided by a common language' thing again I suppose.

I'm sure it is, he's probably got a stash in his garage dating back to a stock clearance sometime in 1978.

Nope Freddy, slow and clunky as hell on Safari 4. Suppose that's my fault for being....what was it T called us Mac users?.....oh yes, that's right "Apple fanboys". Hmmm.

Dress shirt preference- Heavy startch?
docblackrock replied to ubiquitous's topic in Style and looks
Cultural divide at work here I think - when you guys say "dress shirt" what exactly do you mean? A dress shirt to me is a formal white shirt (winged collar, studs, fine pleat maybe) you wear with a DJ, sorry tuxedo. But I get the impression you mean any shirt you wear with a tie - is that right? Either way, starch? Are you mad? For collar and cuffs, I use a normal steam iron set to the hottest 'linen' setting. Shouldn't need anything more IMO. -
Ha, you're not wrong Omni, metrosexual or as my GF calls it "vain self-obsessed narcissism"? Yet again we seem to have parallel tastes, as I'm with you on the drugstore/supermarket brands in this case - you use what works the best. For me, it may be a 'plebian' brand marketed by Unilever at 18-25 year olds but I find this is the best - can spend 7 hours on a flight, or do an 18 hour day and still feel dry (don't really have that issue anyway) and more importantly fresh. The mint scent is very natural as well, hate those artificial choking 'aromas'. I use the spray below but I've seen a roll-on and stick as well.

Bloody hell mate, first it was shaving cream you'd started using, now deodorant..... Are you having an affair?

Real Wood for the IWC Cousteau 2006 Mode
docblackrock replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
Fantastic work Francisco as usual. Any chance, as with the OP decals, you may be open to a little sideline business on this particular mod? Mucho gracias -
Question about which shoes and socks are appropriate?
docblackrock replied to fool2's topic in Style and looks
"Exported" what a nice euphemism, you make it sound like cricket I wasn't suggesting you personally have convict ancestors but just making a point about certain stereotypes that you yourself were making about "the English". As you sort of acknowledged, it'll be a cold day in hell when an Australian can lecture a Brit on fashion and clothing. However, I frequently cringe walking down the street at some of the 'crimes' being committed, especially during the warmer summer months - obviously depends on the demographic, but in general, I must admit our European neighbours dress better than we do. -
Oh almost forgot, your question.... Yes, with Time Capsule (basically an 'Airport' router and wireless backup hard drive combined), you can access (and stream) locally stored files from anywhere with a connection. Extremely simple to set up security protocols for doing so. Do some reading on Apple forums both official and unofficial. Search for 'Back to My Mac'.

I'm a 14-year Apple Macintosh zealot and refuse to use anything else. I've used them all pretty much, desktops and laptops, and have seen 'classic' OS 8 become OS X Snow Leopard. I even have 10 year old machines upgraded and running perfectly. However, don't be lulled into thinking Mac internal hardware is somehow massively superior to PC, in some ways it's not. It's certainly designed much more elegantly both externally (unibody in laptops for example) and internally, and uses better materials (aluminium). But what really sets a Mac apart, and by that I mean light years apart, is the OS. It's practically intuitive and represents by far the greatest advantage Apple has over the rest. Suffice to say my mother (in her 60s) uses her iBook with ease, having previously been as technically-challenged as you could imagine. Once you go 'Mac', you'll never want to go back. You're 'ruined' for life - it's like turning left on boarding a plane. By the way, unless you have to for work reasons, don't be tempted to install Windows on your Mac. Like revenge sex, it'll just feel 'dirty' afterwards.

All that accepted and acknowledged T, I must say I hate it. I don't mind change but not when it's for the sake of it and the end result looks worse (in my opinion). Got nothing to do with eyesight, although I wonder if you've not been wearing those Oakley Miner's Goggles a bit too much yourself First thing was I actually thought the 'dark skin' was the standard one - all the dark grey borders, not sure what purpose it serves except to have an epileptic fit rendering when I scroll down the page. Not great for my eyes that. Whilst I'm whining, what's with the extra short thread page lengths? Find that really annoying - hopefully a tweak pending there as part of the new build? Also, maybe it's a browser thing (I'm using the latest - July 2009 - version of Safari 4 - but the forum does not adjust to browser window width like before so I miss the ends of posts as they scroll beyond the margins. Shouldn't do that on a 13 or 15" display. Not checked on my iPhone yet. Apart from all that bitter and ungrateful criticism, great job

Question about which shoes and socks are appropriate?
docblackrock replied to fool2's topic in Style and looks
Ha ha. By that token then, it must be hard for you lot to match footwear to those fetching numbered black and white striped pyjamas, never mind socks that aren't chafed by the old ball-and-ankle chain matching accessory -
Thanks for confirming that Omni, I've been told opposing things by their staff so, in addition to the price, it made me question if it was genuine badger. Anyway, I think i've found a much better alternative at one of my favourite haunts in Burlington Arcade, London (a few shops down from windows full of more rare vintage Rolex than you can imagine). Not in stock but getting it in from another branch. BTW, I love badgers and although they're not a protected species here in the UK (even considered a pest, vermin even by some) it's good to know that all badger products sold here are forbidden to have been sourced from our local variety - instead they come from farmed badgers (and a slightly different species) in China of all places. Of course China claims they 'trim' the fur off live animals but in reality they are I'm afraid killed for this purpose (as well as meat). I know it's massively hypocritical of me to sleep soundly at night content that my Wind in the Willows childhood storybook memories are not being shredded, but hey, nobody's perfect

Trumpers Lime range is great stuff, although I've taken a sabbatical from it recently. Ditto I like the L'Occitane dish, although always thought it was a proprietary shape to ensure you only used their soap? Let me guess, the SA80 jams and then falls off at the slightest hint of moisture

Well I'm using the latest and greatest Safari 4 (.0.2 if you want specifics) and I'm afraid to say the site is working as efficiently as an an asthmatic giant African land snail wading through through treacle Sorry T, but spare a thought for those of us poor wee Mac souls.

Travelling for you and me is different Omni - normally in and out in a few days and need to travel as light as possible. Hence the drugstore products, just easier if I have to restock wherever I am. Have looked into the travel brush before, but concern about packing it up still wet. Looked at this one (sold locally round the corner) looks good but is suspiciously inexpensive (equivalent to $25 in your money), so probably synthetic brush.... Or maybe I should just travel with one of these feisty little chaps, and use the razor to give him a real smooth shave

Another for the cultural divide methinks..... Button-down collars? A horrible American affectation that Brooks adopted after seeing the design being worn by English polo players where they were practical - stopped their collars flapping about in the saddle. Very much frowned upon this side of the Pond in anything but the most casual of occasions. And only then if you're a port-loving management consultant whose horsey-looking wife has bought you one to match your boat shoes/loafers and chinos for "dress down" Fridays in the office. Wear one with a tie and suit, and it's pretty much career suicide. And rightly so.

Nice flint! Explains your beard eh?

Firstly, good on you for not being embarrassed to admit you're still taking grooming tips from your mum....... *snigger* Secondly, weird-looking, 100% natural, oily white layer? Almost certainly the infamous Norwegian formula, you know with 80% whale semen Thirdly, here's my own preferred 'home' choice of Sweeney Todd gear these days.... When travelling I'm afraid to say it's a little less indulgent - silver/green Gillette razor and tiny travel size L'Oreal foam (much thicker than most, almost a light cream)
