  1. JTB and Neil, actually Taxi! Over here, quick as you like....
  2. Not my cup of tea at all sorry :yucky: Like the bastard love-child of a 212 and 192, nice try better luck next time...
  3. Please stop torturing me with those silver datewheels Randy, I beg you....
  4. http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/spe...=WAE1112.FT6008 I see the new gens have a dimple design (golf ball pattern) on the dial - also a new one in white. Want one but I also have concerns about QC
  5. Well you can't have it...it's MINE (mwahahahaaa......) And no, I didn't get it from Don (sold out is right), found another source who had it in my hand within 48 hours
  6. 'Tis indeed, and worth every penny - same strap made for the 213 Ratty I believe and just sets of the watch perfectly IMO.
  7. After a stint back with my trophy wife (vintage Rollies), I found myself drawn irresistably back to the charms of my feisty younger mistress known as Pam Right now, the 212 is on wrist display, but having a hard time with the 217, not the size but rather the MF 1942 vintage strap - a gorgeous strap but just don't think it suits my wrist, may go to offers soon
  8. More like although you bhoys did us over in the UEFA Cup a few years back (before 'doing an [censored]' in the final ) Still as our city rivals found out last August, the qualifiers have become tricky waters to navigate, lots of sharks about...
  9. I just KNEW JTB would mention Little Henrik today Yes, he was the difference in the end, he managed to make both his current and former clubs very happy last night what a way to say goodbye and retire home to Sweden, pure class Eto'o looked tasty and was gracious enough to pay respects to another team for inspiring them Congrats to Barca - worthy winners, but don't forget it's just on loan (the title I mean, the real trophy is ours to keep ) and we'll be wanting it back next year in Athens, amigos.
  10. Only you, Randy, could use a 70's gold SM chrono case as a pressing tool
  11. Thanks for trying Jonathan. Whilst I'd love an AR sapphire for my 212, like you I'm not convinced that this lead time (outsourced definitely which means significant markup at your suppliers end) and cost represents a fantastic deal. Look forward to you getting another quote.
  12. Good choice in dealer for a start, Drew is the best. Shell Cordovan every time Blessing and a curse at the same time, as you'll find out
  13. My eleven brings us up on 1706 *edit - 1707 I mean, god I hate maths LOL*
  14. hey joe, sorry to hear you've been out of action, will send you email as requested, take your time, said it before, you're a victim of your own success cheers, doc
  15. You are not alone, also waiting on response. However, it is Labor Day holiday over there in the US this week so possible he's on vacation.
  16. Nice watch but the insert you have whilst it may be genuine, is NOT correct for vintage. The pearl surround should be acrylic (not metal) and the insert slightly larger in inner diameter (i.e. thinner) than for modern Subs/SDs *edit* I'm surprised you had problems fitting the superdome, mine went on without fuss and locked down nice and snug onto the retaining ring*
  17. No not sure that we do actually......do tell us Randy Had this same conversation with an older colleague (over a pint, naturally), I'd argue for all things vintage so much more craftsmanship and timeless designs (plus that 'authenticity' Nanuq and Euno mentioned), compared to modern 'built to minimum specs for maximum profit' goods. Talked about how that "British-made" label used to stand for something good but no more since our manufacturing industry died (and how ironic that many Japanese and German-owned luxury goods companies these days use 'Made in England' as a byword for old-world style and handmade craftsmanship). We talked watches of course (my 1665 being a case in point - his one concession, he just sighs with admiration and says he's going to sell his gen Sub ), cars (my favourite, the Gullwing compared to the modern SL), clothes (old vs. 'new' Savile Row), engineering (19thC Brunel-built bridges versus corporate Arup ones that wobble , and Concorde versus the beluga-like 'cattle truck' aka Airbus A380), furniture (old English cabinet-makers vs. Ikea) and art (JMW Turner vs. Damien Hirst). In every case, it was vintage compared with modern In fact the only area where argument doesn't hold up obviously is with consumer electronics, computers, gadgets etc. without which I wouldn't be writing this and you strange people from all over the globe wouldn't be reading it... *edit for massive amounts of typos, bit of a late night last night sorry! *
  18. How's the patient now Ubi? Ticker still ticking, no arrhythmias? You know the post-operative care is just as important as the surgery don't you....
  19. And there speaks the voice of the obssessional perfectionist since they no doubt have different things wrong with them, why not play Dr Frankenstein and put one LV hybrid together? Nice collection by the way, we have similar tastes, Pam036MM, DRSD etc. (apart from the LVs of course....not yet anyway)
  20. Nice job Randy, hope your friend likes it... I had the exact same idea as I had couple of spare eta's lying around just begging for a new home inside Andrew's asian21j Yachtie (movt was buggered on arrival anyway). A quick visit to Joe and hopefully....
  21. @r11co I'm also waiting for my second 45mm PO (black on rubber) - first had same problems as you described (crystal fog, corroded movt screws/rotor etc.) Firstly, I hope I'm as laidback about receiving a iffy replacement (same QC issues), as you seem to be, credit to you for that. Fingers crossed I won't need to be. I'd also be lying if I said I wasn't a teeny bit concerned now after seeing this post - whilst Andrew is one of the best around, I do wonder if his suppliers' QC isn't quite what it should be. I've had a couple of DOAs recently, PO aside, and whilst there's no doubting his customer service, it's frustrating and disappointing when you receive something that's not right .
  22. And there was me thinking that was just a Welsh hobby ??? Well, you learn something new every day....
