Thank you someone paying attention As I said, that bracelet (clasp) looks wrong. Add in the lack of clarification on the authenticity of the case plus the rather off-putting "FINAL SALE AS IS - NO RETURNS" and my sixth sense would make me give this a wide berth. But then maybe one of the Daytona freaks would be kind enough to educate? Was this the same model that TonTon snatched up a $3.5k franken of with EP movt earlier this week?

*edit* sorry itchy trigger finger
-
Why not spend the extra $200 anyway? I mean, you've already spent a lot of money (dial, hands, tube, crown) on at best a middle-range rep. Sorry but when it comes to the PO, I just don't understand the point of modding with gen parts To paraphrase Randy, just go buy a gen, as no rep will ever make you happy.
-
Hmmm, I'm no Daytona fan (or expert) but looks like a YM clasp to me? Also, what's the seller going on about Omega movts for? Wonder where the ZEP movt in the pics has 'gone'?
-
Are you aboslutely sure about that? I've been around a long time here and before and the only 'tapered' Pam bracelet I've seen is one a member modded by delinking and machining the relevant links to 22mm. The earlier single button deployants were still 24/24.

Sorry to sound smug, but saw this 'new item' on Andrew's site couple of days ago. To be honest, I find IWCs a bit of a snooze-fest so I didn't post. I would be interested to know though if the Ti matches gen in appearance. The pics look like it has a grainy almost large grain bead-blasted appearance, most unlike the matt 'smooth' finish of Pam and Omega Ti reps.

You really think so??? One of the key selling points on the Ultimate was its pearl/insert - a VAST improvement on previous versions and as close to gen as one could hope for (without a loupe of course).
-
Amen brother. And SS/Ti ones at that!

I Sent An Asian 21j Into Carbonite, Alá Han Solo...

Second that. Clear your box out FGS man! -
Last I heard from the horse's mouth (just after New Year) is that Angus had some QC issues with the buckle just prior to Xmas, and was hoping to have it sorted out asap. The HBB took priority so hopefully now that's out the way, our 187s will be sporting this monster very soon

A very small world And yes, I learnt to fish up there that last time (Henningsvær actually, where better?!), just amazing seeing your catch rise up out of the crystal clear water. Also tried my hand in that inlet 'maelstrom' - scary! Happy times indeed. Looks familiar. Is that the one near Hakland? There's so many, I remember us walking to get to Kvalvika (to see midnight sun) but there's another one very long white sandy beach, not a cove but I can't remember name of God, I hate winter in January, rain, cold, wind - will have to look at some photos

The watch? Patek of some description, possibly a Calatrava. The price? Approx 50 grand Where? Somewhere over the midwest of the US, aboard a private corporate aircraft. Worn by? The guy who brought me drinks.

My take on it is Apple lost patience trying to do a deal with Cisco, and took a '[censored] 'em' stance . Cisco are just posturing for the sake of it. Partly because they think there's a principle at stake 'how dare they' but also because they're probably jealous and want a slice of money pie. They owned this TM and didn't really leverage it (aside from using it on some of their quite frankly mediocre and obscure products). Apple however have come up with a product that in 24 hours the whole (technical, civilized) world is talking about. I mean surely they saw this coming? iMac since what '98? iPod since 2000, iLife, iWork....etc etc. Plus the iPhone has been rumoured for what must be at least 3 years at least?! I have no doubt Jobs is aggressive in these matters (look at the Apple record label suit - they backtracked on an agreement with the Beatles record label to never to enter the music industry...oops) and probably has an ego the size of a large planet, but as a company they are pushing the envelope much more than anything the 'evil empire' has ever/will ever come up with - you can only look on in admiration.

Rolex Datewheel For A 3135 Movement As A Dateoverlay
docblackrock replied to Tribal's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Really??? I don't see how..... Gen Rolex datewheels have numerals which ascend chronologically in a clockwise direction (rotating anti-clockwise). In contrast, ETA wheels ascend in anti-clockwise direction (rotating clockwise). Hence why I can't just jerry-rig my genuine silver flat top 3s 1570 datewheel onto my 1665 -
Thanks Ape (still a bit bruised from our Cup games this week ) I have to say Olso airport was one the most stress-free I've ever been through, although my paranoia stems from the fact that I did get 'inappropriately frisked' by some scary butch uniformed woman on my way out last time - I know some people pay good money for that kind of thing but trust me it wasn't a pleasant experience. As for Lofoten, I've been up there before in summer a few years back as I have friends there (one of whom is getting married this summer!). Just an idyllic place, a dream to spend every summer there (I remember this one beach, the most perfect beach in the world) and can't wait to go back.

I think I'm past caring to be honest, the world turns on its axis and takes us with it..... My 7750 is doing just fine (touch wood), with a nice bold font datewheel swapout - planning to get the crystal AR'd when I get round to it.
-
Riiiiight, so you don't think everything was approved by a whole bunch of Apple in-house lawyers??? Hardly reckless. Assertive is a better adjective. I bet you'll see a one-line entry in the pink pages, in a few months - this 'suit' will disappear quietly.

Need Help Adding The Rubber Strap To The Omega 42.5mm Po
docblackrock replied to Double Tap's topic in The Omega Area
Those metal nubs were there precisely to prevent this - the 42 Asian PO had corresponding 'docking' holes on the case between the lugs to ensure the strap fit snugly. First point of call would be to see if stronger/thicker springbars help, less 'bend' and they may hold the strap in tighter to the lugs. Other than that, I'm afraid you're looking at redrilling lugholes - only other solution I can think of. -
Thanks for the reassurance guys, good to know So, you could tell I was blagging eh? Ah well, it's not exactly my mother tongue
-
Listen to tonton (he and I share great tastes ) There is just no substitute for the Hirsch deployant - sure, expensive (around 55-60GBP) but it is the best 212 strap without question, I would never part with mine.

Don't have to be speak Norsk to understand you're worried about different dealers shipping methods and the possibility of a nice Customs officer 'admiring' a package addressed to you. Just out of interest, shipping aside, what's your country's policy on travelling through customs/possession of reps these days - zero tolerance like drink-driving (an excellent policy of yours BTW) or fairly relaxed? No strange draconian laws I ought to be aware of, like in dear old France? Heading right up to beautiful Lofoten to see friends later in the year - hence my question.
-
...and paying an insane 1500% markup!!!! Now THOSE guys know how to rip people off in style Not sure what the point of this thread is - regardless of however much dealers do or don't make, quite frankly it's none of our business. Maybe it's my reserved English ways coming out here but talking about how much you earn or speculating on how much others do is just I mean I just really don't care - good luck to them I say. If you're still curious/nosey/resentful, I know one established dealer who has a day job that is a constant battle against external beauracracy and that's even before he's begun to do what he does. If he was making a killing in watches, do you think he'd still be doing that just for the love of paperwork and long-haul travel??? Quite.

Hmmm, not quite Mr Ampere...not just basic physics, technology plays a part too. How do you explain my PSP giving me nearly 4 hours of UMD-driven video and 5:30 off memory stick? And on THAT stunning 4.5-inch screen too. . Whilst I love Apple products to bits, Sony's power management and battery technology is streets ahead of Apple. Look at their latest 'network Walkman', compare it with any iPod and watch as the latter hangs it's head in shame and bows in deference. Oh and talking of the dreaded curse of the fingerprints, although it doesn't have a direct screen interface, my PSP screen has been unprotected for well over a year without any mishaps, sure you get the odd print but no more than your phone display (actually less due to the pouch thing). A quick wipe with a lens cloth, and voila...as new!

'Course, that's assuming they (the competition) are starting from scratch as of 9am this morning But never mind the other bells and whistles, that this thing runs Mac OS alone means I'll be an early adopter. You hear that Mr Symbian? No? Well that's the 'winds of change' my friend. Hey Miss Nokia, my other faithful partner....it's not you, it's me, sure it's been fun and I'll always remember the good times, but hey I've met this new chick, she gets on much better with my family and frankly she's a monster in the sack. You'll met someone else, no really you will. Ok gotta go, see ya'!
-
Oh you'd be surprised, lots of people. When Nokia released the 8800 about 18 months ago, in the UK they sold out repeatedly within days of release - about 10 production runs in total....and that was at $1000 on a 12-month platinum contract! Apple has always had two tiers of customers, the cheap 'n' cheerful shuffle and nano buyers and an smaller but no less significant population that are willing to pay for a high-end premium product - that's why sales of the MacPro (ex-G5) and MacBook Pro (ex-Powerbook) are VERY healthy even with the release of the Core Duo 2 variants less than 6 months following the switch to Intel chips. Errr, correct me if I'm wrong but whilst it may be larger/wider than your basic phone, it's no larger than a current iPod? Also it's friggin' thin too, slip nicely inside rear trouser or jacket pocket. Bet it feels easier to handle/store than any PDA on the market. Well lots of richer and smarter people than you HAVE bet money on it.....somehow I don't think Steve Jobs will be having any sleepless nights nights over whether it will be a success or not.
