  1. The best stuff in Chinatown is never on the street, you have to make friends with the owner, show him a quality rep or two and if he doesn't think you're with customs he'll show you some of the better stuff in the back. Still, I think you can get better over the net. The high rents in NYC, even in Chinatown, make good deals a thing of the past -
  2. If that's the case, they have several hundred rep sites to go -
  3. Have you seen the new Hyundai Genesis? They're getting close to that - BTW - the Flying B in steel is about $10k, not 27K as previously stated http://www.jomashop.com/breitling-mens-wat...12-b8-442x.html $27k is for white gold, but they don't need a white gold model to do a good rep.
  4. I finally got the band sized and I've been wearing it about a week now - this is a really nice rep. Not only is it fairly accurate in appearance, but it's well made and the movement is smooth as glass, It's the most accurate rep I've owned, it's lost about 15 seconds the whole week right out of the box ( bubble wrap, actually) The chronos work well, but sometimes the main needle sticks on reset. I'm guessing this will work itself out in short order, or after a basic service. The new 7750b movements are really a huge improvement over the old A7750 low-beat. The rubber wrist-strap is surprisingly comfortable, having had several dive watches with rubber straps that I couldn't wear for more than a few hours - this one wears all day with no discomfort at all. All in all, if you like the look you could do much worse than this watch.
  5. Update - yanked all the clasp screws and replaced them with ones from my parts box and everything works fine now. Watch fits nicely and runs first rate. But don't buy this watch unless you have a good quality jeweler's screwdriver set or a good watchmaker to size the strap. Otherwise, and excellent rep.
  6. My guess is one of the Haute Joaillerie collection from the 50's - but there were a ton on them, some one-offs. Have you considered sending a pic to JLC?
  7. It's red on all the faces, even the white and yellow ones - so it must indicate something, it's not just a design element.
  8. Don't show pictures of black watches on a black background, it's just a waste of time because you can't see anything. Try light gray for black watches. Even a drawing is better than a black blob.
  9. I feel the same way about PAM and Rolex - they're just plain ugly to me. But hey - to each his own
  10. The price is too good to be true even for a decent rep - Look at their info sidebar - "Packaging and Documentation: This watch is GUARANTEED 100% authentic, has ORIGINAL SERIAL NUMBERS and is shipped in FACTORY-FRESH, BRAND NEW, UNWORN condition with ALL manufacturer documentation and packaging. Package contains watch manufacturer's certificate of authenticity (if such certificate is applicable, and provided by the manufacturer), tags, stickers, boxes, and user manuals ." Who can sell a Breitling Skyland rep, with a rep box, tags and manuals for $219? Andrew is getting $336 for the same stuff and admits it's a rep. This stuff is either unbelievable crap or they just send you an empty box - or maybe they take your cc # and go shopping on Ebay!
  11. I had hoped the days of humorous misspellings on reps was over with - maybe it's just a bad photo on Andrew's site -
  12. I've seen that guy! He works at my office!
  13. I think Angus saw that another dealer beat him to market, so he responded with a lower price to try and grab some of the spotlight. Seems a perfectly reasonable marketing tactic to me - Should he just sit by and let Josh and Andrew skim the cream? I just hope this trend toward better reps at reasonable prices continues, and I hope my bank account holds out with $4 gas and $4/gal milk to buy as well.
  14. My guess is it would look fine over a 9mm wetsuit -
  15. I was looking at the new U-Boat "Thousands of feet" on Andrew's site Very cool watch - 50mm is really big but if you're actually going to dive I guess big is easier to read - Is it really supposed to say "Mace in Italy" on the back?
  16. I just got an email from Angus, the parts I needed are on their way by EMS, so I'm happy. I'm guessing he was just swamped with orders for the new Breitling.
  17. I wish I was, I haven't heard anything from him -
  18. I think he means the DEALER Pam111.com - also known as Paul or Womart
  19. So, next year's vacation in Switzerland is moved to Austria. Problem solved.
  20. I imagine the increased activity would slow things down for everybody, Reps and gen goods alike -
  21. He always has been in the past, that's why I buy from him even when he's a bit higher than the others. But lately I'm rethinking that strategy -
  22. Mine arrived a week ago and I have yet to wear it - the bands are a [censored] to resize. The clasp has four screws to remove, tiny ones. You'll need a pro quality screwdriver set and a good magnifying visor. On mine, one of the screws had the threads stripped from the factory, another had the head stripped so I couldn't get the screw out. Then you need someone to hold the thing in place for you so you can mark the band (unless you have three hands) and if you cut the band short you're screwed because they don't sell replacements. So you have to disassemble the whole thing, size the band, cut it, assemble it (all four screws plus four pins that need to be placed exactly or it won't go together) test fit and then do the whole thing over again two or three more times until you get it sized properly. That is assuming you don't strip or lose a screw in the process. It's a nice watch, but if I had it to do over I would have never bought it. Of course, once you have it fit correctly you never have to worry about it again - unless you gain or lose weight.
  23. I've had no problem getting watches from him, but he's been very slow on servicing damaged goods - I'm hoping it's just that business is good and he'll get to things soon -
