  1. I've got the white face standard, and I can't see any AR at all, but I really don't mind. Once the newness wears off I'll ship it to Chieftang for a double job. As for bling, I'm in commercial real estate and with all the full gold Rolex Presidents with diamond bezels around the GT looks rather classy.
  2. I can recommend Acetimer, very nice quality for the price - and don't worry about getting a box that's too big, in my experience no matter how big it will be full sooner than you know.
  3. The reason some plate watches and rings turn your skin green is that the base metal is Brass. The copper in the brass reacts with the salt in your skin and produces a verdigris residue. A stainless plated watch should never turn your skin green, although the plating can wear off, especially if worn daily.
  4. True, but I have to commit to parting with it for a month or so, and that's tough. As for where I got it, I bought this one from Angus - but I understand only one factory is making it so any of the dealers here can get you one.
  5. It's officially my favorite watch EVER. Better than any of the Rolex Gens I've owned - I'm now a certified Breitling fan. I think my next watch will be an SOH gen. If I can scrape the bucks together I'll go for a GT gen as well.
  6. Every watchmaker has an office in NYC, and sometimes the salesmen hassle the Canal Street shops, especially if someone calls them and says "this shop has fakes of (their brand) watches!" You need to show them you're not working for the manufacturer. That's probably why the sign said "No Breitling", the Breitling Rep had been in recently. The shopkeeper probably had a dozen Breitling reps in the back that he'll hold until the heat is off. Nothing you can't get online for less, however - the only plus is you can try them on.
  7. Andrew has that watch for $238.00 - my recommendation is just to replace the whole thing. Hopefully the new ones have better crowns.
  8. Only the Hydroconquest - but if it's the look you want there are reps of the Chopard Grand Prix, which looks very similar -
  9. I found with Canal street shops it helps to show them a good rep and ask if they have something of similar quality. They seem to be more comfortable if you show that you already own reps and know what to expect.
  10. If someone asks "How can you afford such nice watches?" I just say "I can't" and wink.
  11. I certainly hope so, the old one sucks the mighty moose I usually just bypass it and email him because the site is so hard to use.
  12. It's amazing how much demand there is for a Nautilus with an accurate datewheel, and yet nobody makes one. It seems so easy to do, and there's a huge market. Shame because it's such an obvious tell -
  13. The best thing for sticking zippers is something called AGS DOOR-EASE STICK LUBRICANT , a few bucks at any hardware store or over the net. Works great and one stick will last you 20 years.
  14. Then you'll probably be owning something else -
  15. If the security features can't be seen by the naked eye, who cares? I don't care if an AD with special infared lights and microscopes can tell if it's a fake, I care if the hot Flight Attendant in the dark, smoky airport bar can tell it's fake - After three cosmos. All the watch needs to do is get her to say "hey, nice watch" - I'll take it from there.
  16. Your point is moot - whether the watch shown in the ad is genuine or not - the point is that someone does, in fact, offer a rep of the watch in question. The only way one could be sure of what is shipped, if anything, is to order one. I'll pass on that test - you're welcome to try if you like.
  17. Check the links page.
  18. I'm sorry to tell you, but they do make a rep of this watch, and a fairly good one, too - That doesn't mean yours is a rep, but the chances are good if you got a cheap price - http://www.watchesprice.net/Emporio-Armani...07-AA-7744.html
  19. Yep, I just checked and he's got 21 Armani reps listed on his site, so the Armani business must be good -
  20. I remember Hantwatch used to carry a few fake Emporio Armanis, so they definitely do rep them - I would guess mostly for the Asian markets.
  21. I think the likelihood of this happening is nearly nil - after all there are many people out there wearing reps who don't even know they are reps, they think they just got a real good deal on a watch on Ebay or in a little watch shop in some third world country. These people are good potential customers for gens. You'd also have to be pretty confident that the watch owner isn't going to pull out a gun and shoot you for destroying their property. Most people don't take very kindly to that sort of thing. Much easier to just say "Nice watch" and hope they buy something. Let the manufacturers go after the rep dealers.
  22. Prices are high because they're taking advantage of all the French, German and Japanese tourists who come to NYC on "cheap dollar" spending sprees. When they have a sale their prices are great, and the staff is actually very friendly. Don't take it there for service, however. They do good work but you will pay $$$
  23. Thanks for the heads up! Are you on some kind of mailing list or something? I went to the big sample sale at SOIFFER HASKIN and had a blast, bought two watches for gifts. (and yes, I wore my Breitling GT rep, not a snicker)
  24. They have some interesting watches, and you can occasionally find them for 30% off at the big department stores. They make a jump hour rectangular that I quite like.
  25. A Seamaster would be a good choice - but in Breitling I would still go SOH. SFSO is too military for an accountant.
