  1. STAINLESSor glold? I don't know if I would trust this guy to engrave anything -
  2. The new YachtMaster rep on Josh's site shows the famous "rolexrolexrolex" on the rehut, but the factory website doesn't show any engraving - Did NoobFactory make a mistake? Or does Rolex have old pics on their site?
  3. The problem is, now we're going to have a bidding war between RWG members!
  4. Does it have to be round? I was thinking Cartier Santos 100
  5. I said possible, not easy - it's easier to take an off the shelf movement and fudge it to fit - like the A7750s with an aftermarket module for seconds at 6. There's a considerable investment in tooling up for a rep movement, so they're only gonna do it if the have to. But if they have to (or if we're willing to pay for it) they will.
  6. I think you fail to appreciate what a good CNC system can do. The same system that can crank out 1 mil accurate cases can also do mainplates, bridges, rotors etc. The only reason they don't is the easy availability of off the shelf movements. Custom movements might raise the cost of super reps a few hundred dollars, but if there's a demand the current technology can supply the goods. Then again, if it's a closed back case there's really little need for a rep movement - look at all the reps running a 2824 clone where the gen never had an ETA in it -
  7. The Zigmeister has a right to his very expert opinion, but I've had several reps that ran weird for about a week and fine after that. My guess is there was a bit of dirt in the movement that shook loose - rep factories are not the cleanest in the watch world. If course, you should probably take it to a qualified person for a cleaning and adjustment, anyway - it's good general practice.
  8. I agree, it's very handsome - perhaps with all the stockbrokers going broke you might find one used at a good price -
  9. Another "minor" tell - The crosspiece on the deployant is steel on the gen - on the rep it's plated RG -
  10. Most people don't want to say where they're from, lest evil befall them -
  11. They do, but so far they seem to think of us as just a small bunch of loonies, and that most people think all reps are the the $19 Canal Street Rolex variety. If too many people find out that there are good reps to be had and the "Fashion media" get ahold of it it could be trouble indeed. So if you see someone posting to a gen group about how good reps have become - argue with them! Tell them they're full of [censored] and they're posting Gens and saying they're reps! We need more people to think all reps are junky fakes you can spot 20 feet away and that break in a week. REPS ARE CRAP! THEY'RE A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY! YOU'LL JUST GET RIPPED OFF!
  12. Now that I think of it, I can't remember ever seeing a Tiffany watch rep of any kind -
  13. What about the clasp? One thing I remember from the gen was how well detailed the deployant clasp was - it was a work of art in itself. Is the rep clasp a reasonable reproduction?
  14. Rule #1 - you can never buy a watch box that's big enough.
  15. I guess I'll just have to buy one and figure it out - If it's 23mm I may be able to get a 24mm strap to work - Hey, like all projects, it's an adventure!
  16. Personally, I think it's better for all of us if the guys on TZ and the other rep groups think that all reps are crap. That way the gen manufacturers aren't so hot to shut us down -
  17. It would seem to me that as a Malibu playboy a Rolesium Yachtmaster would be appropriate for Charlie - in the same vein I would assume Alan's watch would be a generic Citizen or a Casio - something affordable that could be purchased at the local mall. I'd expect that's what wardrobe ordered. I'd also expect that Alan's Rolex was sold to pay outstanding Alimony some time ago, or perhaps lost in his second divorce.
  18. Does anyone know the width of the 44mm Big Bang strap? I'm wondering if it would be possible to modify a standard strap to fit - I know the end connections are different, I can handle that. But if it's some weird size I might have to go full custom which adds to the budget for the project.
  19. Personally, I think the "upscale" watches like the Bentleys and Navis look better on steel, the Avengers look better on a rugged leather strap and the Windriders could go either way depending on how you wear it.
  20. Have you tried the search function? Upper right on the tool bar - the one marked "search"
  21. Can we find a cruise that looks really expensive but isn't?
  22. Geez- that Timberline is one fugly mutha - talk about everything but the kitchen sink!
  23. Nice, but to be right it would have to be done with the guilloche - and that would be difficult on a silver dial - That said, I'd buy one!
  24. I wonder how they would ever know - do they do surprise inspections of his shop?
