  1. Zee dial iz not zo bad when smaller, no? And it does have excellent lume.
  2. ll you're right about the 16800 matte dial. It's a refinished gen by International Dial in Wilmington Ohio. Fortunately it looks much better when it's not magnified 10x and I got it for next too nothing. The printing does look pretty crappy when magnified though.
  3. Just picked this up and would like to hear from the pros how good/bad this is. Lume (in a semi-bright room):
  4. I find the easiest way is with a razor blade. Just line up the two little keys with the teeth of the DW and use the tip of a razor blade to push in the little spring. Once you get used to finding the spring it only takes a second to do it.

  6. Or maybe we've set our expectations ever higher and now it's too difficult to meet those expectations. So, what would have been a great rep 2 years ago is now considered hardly worth notice.
  7. That sure looks like an old Oysterquartz case and bracelet. Great job. too bad about the little "gotcha's".
  8. Only one I really like is the Rubber strap. Otherwise too much metal for the average sized wrist.
  9. Probably a total of a million parts turned into a million watches. Kind of how they price out large drug busts at street level prices. Makes for a better story.
  10. Thanks Nanuq. OP (with the long and hard to pronounce name), If you decide not to get it, would you let me know where to look. I might be interested.
  11. Noob question. What's a "rail dial"?
  12. Specifically, are you changing the bezel or bezel insert? The bezel's next to impossible to get off.
  13. You can always leave off the GMT wheel and use it in about any other 3 handed watch as a 2892-2 movement. I put one in a WM9 V3 Sub case, even with the Rolex date wheel on it.
  14. Better check Cousin's freight policy. I bought a couple of stem tubes and they would only ship to the US with signed priority mail. The shipping was about 8x the cost of the part.
  15. Hmmm. Funny how when you Google "Replica Watch Forums", that other one comes up second and fourth behind RWI and in front of RG. Didn't see rwgforum anywhere on the first page. Wonder why that is?
  16. I believe that the canon pinion seems to have plenty of height for the second hand. Without measuring you can't be sure but I believe if you had the next higher set of GMT, hour, and second hand wheels, it would solve the problem.
  17. Actually, there are 4 major replica watch forums!
  18. I had the same problem. It was a b*tch. The only thing I came up with was to use a crystal press and push the center hole of the dial down slightly. Just enough to get the GMT hand to connect. I finally got it all together and working though. Unfortunately, if you don't leave a little extra space for the date wheel, it catches on the GMT setting gear. When you raise it, the GMT hand wont fit. Then of course, you have to bend the GMT, hour, and minute hand to where they don't catch the dial markers or each other. Not an easy project.

  20. I was watching one of those same cases last week on eBay. It went for $51 + shipping. Like you said it's an old Oyster Perpetual case. I was trying to figure out if it would work for an Explorer. Looks like I should have bought it.
  21. What kind of movement are you talking about?
  22. Mine doesn't click and is bi-directional.
  23. Is that the DSSD case? If so good luck. I tried everything I know short of a cold chisel and hammer and couldn't budge it. I asked BK and he said he hasn't been able to get it apart either.
  24. Rather much a huge pain but it does work. Now I just need to get a new set of hands with the green GMT hand and have them superlumed to match the dial and I can call it finished. If anyone can help me with a source for that I would be most grateful. Thanks to FixrAndy for the movement.
  25. Too be honest, I'm not really seeing it. If it's that hard to notice at 5X magnification, you'd never see it on the watch.
