  1. It's the original bracelet that came with the watch. It was actually a gift from a female friend who inherited it. It wasn't working and she knew I was into watches so she gave it to me. I had Rex service it and it's been great ever since. It's a shame that it's a little too small to get much wrist time but it's so comfortable to wear, you forget that you have a watch on.
  2. Seems like a year or so ago, the 183 was the "must have" Panerai rep. It must have been pretty good.
  3. I saw a rose gold BB in the wild at a golf tournament and wanted to vomit. A swarthy Italian mobster looking guy with a mustache, his shirt unbuttoned with several gold chains dangling around his neck and a big cigar. And of course, the big diamond ring. The whole picture was pure tackiness. I lost total interest in Hublot right after that.
  4. 7750's only wind in 1 direction, so you're only getting half the winding turns that it's rated at. It's a common problem with 7750's and two way winders.
  5. Since this is turning into a show and tell thread, let me add my vintage. I think the "beads of rice" bracelet is the best option. Somewhat similar to the Rolex Jubilee. Looking forward to seeing your finished project Redwatch. Pictures by Rex The Watchman when it was serviced.
  6. I'm about 90% sure that seller is Faisel from Sugarland TX-JewelryOutlet550, EWAtchParts.com, Etc. Doesn't have a great reputation among members here. Anybody else know?

    Stain + Cape Cod?

That's what conservatives want you to believe. Not necessarily the truth though.
  8. Rather blatant Rolex copy but I'd still love a good rep of it.
  9. I'm betting it's Josh, since he asks for standard air mail shipping and it often takes quite a while. I sent back a Cartier quartz and it took around 5 months to have it repaired. Turned out the manufacturer had gone back to Taiwan and he had to ship it to Taiwan for repair. I had given up on it and it finally showed up, good as new.

    Gen Dial

Be careful trying to bend and snap them off. I left a nice little dimple on the face side of an otherwise perfect Datejust dial last time I did that. I'll be clipping them off and dremeling the nub from now on.
  12. It would certainly be cheaper to buy a whole new movement. Last 28xx movement service, I paid $80 as I recall.
  13. On mine the first silver piece is tight on the crystal and the brass washer is only to add friction to the bezel as is turns. at least that's the way I remember it. I do recall that the first piece on held the crystal and had to be tight against the case or else the bezel turned too freely.
  14. For what it's worth, here's a picture of mine: And here's the original vs the Clark crystal on the left. You can see the slight cracking at the base of the one on the right. Was yours the original model that came with the 2836-2 or the later one that had the older 2846-2 movement? Mine was the original and it may have been slightly different, but definitely no gasket and tight fit on the bezel retainer.
  15. I don't know why not if it will take a gen crystal. The bezel retainer is held in place by the outside of the crystal.
  16. That's interesting. I have the cartel one and it leaked originally. I found that the crystal was actually cracked under the bezel. I don't remember there being any plastic gasket on mine. I bought a Clarke crystal and replaced it with some G S Hypo cement and it's at least water proof enough to use for swimming. Plus the Clark crystal is a little better quality as far as clarity and more distortion free. Also the Clark didn't come with a gasket.
  17. Without getting an exact size it looks like the 2824 datewheel is .5mm and the 2836 is .8mm.
  18. I've swapped a couple of those movements back and forth and never found a problem. I always figured it was the spacer ring between the movement and dial was slightly different between the two. It would make sense since the datewheel on a 2836-2 is taller. But I've never really looked that close to figure it out.
  19. Contact Tat and see if he'll send you a new set. That's the only possibility that I can think of. Getat watch
  20. Although I agree with Freddy and By-Tor, I think a lot of us do this for our own satisfaction. Not because we're trying to fool anybody. I had mine re-lumed because I like good lume at night. I liked changing the bezel insert because it looked better to me. Not because I thought anyone else would care. And I changed the movement cause I like the watch and was totally dissatisfied with the piece of crap Chinese modified Eta movement. After one watch with a genuine GMT movement I know I'll never want another GMT watch with a cheap movement.
  21. I like your thinking. Have you tried to find someone that does rhodium plating? I was wondering how hard it would be.
  22. I used the existing overlay. And the Corum movement he used may have had taller canon pin, etc. Something to think about.
  23. Thanks Freddy, I should have remembered that the gens were tapered.
  24. A lot of time bending and refitting the GMT and hour hands to not hang up on the dial markers or each other, and a slight bend of the dial center. The problem is also compounded by getting the Rolex date wheel overlay to work properly and not hang up on the extra GMT setting wheel. I wouldn't recommend trying it and if you do, leave the crystal off until you get all the hands working properly so you don't have to keep taking it apart when they aren't set perfectly. Now that I have it all working, I guess it was worth it, but I'd never do it again.
  25. I made the mistake of buying the v1 CHS and put way too much money into it. I originally had it relumed and serviced (twice) and never could get the GMT hand to follow correctly. Also installed one of Chief's AR'd cyclops. Since then I shoehorned in a 2893-2 GMT movement and replaced the bezel insert with the newer full ceramic one. The new insert had to be ground down considerably to fit at the proper height.
